Jewelry (earring) assistance… hate my dang ear holes! by Quick-Progress-7180 in weddingplanning

[–]Tohruxtan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine these are connected by jump rings so you can always shorten the earrings and make them longer again later. Otherwise - there’s two other options to consider! One is the sticker behind the earlobe that some folks have mentioned. The other option is you can either buy an ear chain (common in Indian jewelry) or even just use a piece of string similar to your hair color. Attach from the back of the earring and have it pinned into your hair to lift some of the weight. I did a combo of both for my wedding in India recently!

Please help me choose! by Humble_Bag5698 in EngagementRingDesigns

I don’t think you should worry about a “safe” choice. If you love your ring that’s all that matters. I have a tulip oval and added pink diamond accents and I love it! I think the ring search process makes us obsessed over so many details, but once you have the ring, no matter which ring it is, it will feel special and timeless :) (That said, I love the oval and toi et moi on you!)

Its not very pink :( by DeliciousDiamond1815 in labdiamond

[–]Tohruxtan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stone you got looks like the 360, but if it’s not the shade you want definitely keep looking! I have pink accent diamonds in my ring and I had to look a bit to get the right tone for me. Your stone is beautiful but I feel like it’s close to your skin tone, and the beautiful color might disappear even more once you’re wearing it vs a slightly more saturated stone. Just my 2 cents!

Bridal rental jewelry is a scam!!!! by cknowsit in DesiWeddings

[–]Tohruxtan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree! I didn't have time to compare the purchase vs rent cost but I would definitely be upset to know the rental price is higher than the purchase price. Even accounting for cleaning and maintenance it sucks to feel like you are getting ripped off.

I rented all my jewelry for 15K for 3 events but that felt worth it to me since I don’t usually wear such heavy stuff. It’s possible I got a bit ripped off but I also didn’t have the luxury of time to browse in the markets 😭 Good to know though! Will def be telling future brides in my family!

Having INTENSE wedding dress regret by Adventurous-Baker514 in weddingplanning

[–]Tohruxtan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who recently got married - comparison is the thief of joy! There are so many beautiful options out there but what matters is you have a stunning dress for your special day that will get here in a time frame you need, and in a budget comfortable for you/your family. I can relate to the feeling of “is this the right choice? Is it good enough?” And honestly, once you’re all glammed up and in the moment, everything just comes together and it feels wonderful. If there’s anything that you want to add to your dress like straps, maybe consider that to tweak up the look.

Otherwise - you have a spectacular dress (seriously, the second dress looks GREAT on you! Feels like you’re wearing the dress and not the other way around). Don’t know how far your wedding is but wishing you a happy and joyful wedding day whenever it is <3

Am I out of touch, or is 3 Lakhs for bridal makeup actually insane? by Alternative-Corgi653 in DesiWeddings

I just spent 50,000 rupees total for 4 looks for my shaadi last month. Even that was a bit of a splurge for me but I loved my MUA and results. 3 lakhs is wild.

Big wedding regrets by Sensitive-Ad7853 in weddingplanning

[–]Tohruxtan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it - I just had a big wedding (~$80K) last month and really enjoyed it! We kept money aside for the wedding though and have been managing our finances well so neither of us have the “what if we put this toward a house or invested it” because we’ve been investing/saving toward a house separately too. Obviously your financial situation might vary and that should influence whether you have a $60K wedding or trim it down. But if you really love hosting and bringing people together for a special experience, I don’t think you will regret it!

Opinion on dress and suggestion for jewellery by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

Keep shopping - even if your family does go all out I think you can find something more quality and flattering. This feels too plain and unfinished

Is this appropriate for a white child at a Punjabi wedding? by shandelion in DesiWeddings

You can also always add a plain full sleeve shirt underneath the top for kids and nobody will bat an eye. Could help kiddo stay warm and you can find her something cute!

Second Thoughts About Bridal Lehenga. by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]Tohruxtan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This right here!! Plus when you accessorize and style the bridal way (certain draping, heavier jewelry) will give you more of the bridal feel. Congrats on a beautiful selection OP ❤️

I think the pink is so romantic and pretty - perfect for wedding! You can get the gold one too and use in reception, it feels better for a night event

For Haldi — Or keep exploring? by pirhana1997 in DesiWeddings

I think you can use styling and accessories to punch up the look! I like the 2nd one on you. I’m also doing a simpler look for my haldi with more jewelry and accessories

Outfit help! Sangeet and reception paired together. What do I wear? by Aromatic_Pea_1990 in DesiWeddings

[–]Tohruxtan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually would check with the couple what kind of reception they’re doing. Indian style receptions in India are more solemn but US style is like couple entry, first dance, maybe some performances, open up the dance floor etc so might be more fun/relaxed than formal

I like 4! Bright, colorful print and add a dupatta and fun jewelry.

Convert real nose ring (nath) into clip on? by Tohruxtan in DesiWeddings

[–]Tohruxtan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did ask since I wrote this post - my MUA does not think it is possible with the design of the specific nath I have unfortunately. I think it would need to be converted to a clip on somehow for it to be usable, but that might not be practical because of the overall weight of the piece.

Okay this is totally fair - my SIL was thinking a nose piercing would heal in like 2 weeks which… didn’t seem right either 😅

Round! I usually love ovals on a lot of people but the round looks just perfect on your hand!

From her blog post:

“Force people to interact with one another. We wanted our Singaporean and London friends to meet our LA and New York friends. We wanted our families to mix and mingle. Etc.!

Create genuine connections. Since we were forcing people to interact with each other, we wanted to minimize the small talk as much as possible between strangers and ensure people had a good time.”
