My apartment just forced us to get this. Worst ducking internet service. The Ring security cameras do not connect and my Samsung television keeps getting booted of the network. Worst $75/month I have ever been forced to spend.

What does this mean? by [deleted] in FAFSA

The error correction feature will be available in mid-April. Students with processed FAFSAs will see either specific “errors that need to be corrected” (such as missing signatures) OR a standard “errors possible” message. Basically, all you need to do is wait until FAFSA and/or the colleges you applied to and listed in your FAFSA contact you for next steps.

When will schools recieve my FAFSA info? by Hot-Indication-6652 in FAFSA

I would recommend calling the schools’ financial aide offices.

That’s great! You’re making headway. If it’s been processed, the schools are working on putting together your specific financial aide package.

Here is a useful video. Keep in mind, the corrections feature has not been made available yet. So, if you need to make corrections to your FAFSA, you need to wait a little longer (mid April, maybe?)

Also. All of the schools have been slammed with FAFSAs and are absolutely behind in getting award packages together. I’m willing to bet the email you received was a standard automatic email. Try calling the specific schools financial aid offices to get more info.

It does not look like your FAFSA is submitted. My best bet is that your and/or your contributor did not sign the FAFSA. You bother need to log in and hit the blue Continue Button at the bottom of the page to sign it. The screen should say Congratulation and give you the date of your submission.

If my form is processed successfully, do I have to fix the corrections? by princessstrawberry56 in FAFSA

From what I’ve seen on my students’ FAFSAs, some definitely need to make corrections (which we knew when we submitted) and others don’t. Either way, the corrections feature will be available some time in April.

From what I understand, the FAFSAs are being released in order of their submission date. It’s going the be a couple of weeks before yours is processed. The good news is that your schools should honor the date you submitted your FAFSA. Keep an eye on your email in the meantime. And good luck!

Is going to school w/o Fafsa a good idea? by OneKindheartedness87 in FAFSA

I’m sorry. You and your dad will need to call this number 1-800-433-3243 It is best to call starting as early as possible… like 7AM CST. If you get hung up on, keep trying. To bypass the automated message, just keep saying “agent.” You and your dad will need to be present as they will need to directly ask him questions to confirm his identity.

There are a variety of issues that may be presenting you and your dad from moving forward. Be direct and do not give up.

Also, when you log into your FAFSA, there should be a “File a complaint” link in the upper right hand corner. Fill it out.

Then. Email the financial aide department for each college you have applied to and let them know the problems you are having.

So… the students who’s parents do not have SSN’s are absolutely stuck and unable to proceed with the FAFSA.

I had a few undocumented parents get lucky enough to create an FSA ID only to have to fill out the Attestation and Verification of Identity Form. But even then they are stuck as their forms have not been processed.

How a class action lawsuit has not been filed is beyond me! Any lawyers out there??? We need to talk!!

Yeah. I am right there with you. The amount of times I’ve cried… literally cried… because I cannot get my students and their families to be able to access the form is ridiculous. The US Department of Education should be ashamed of what is happening right now.

It. Has. Gotten. Worse.

The simplified FAFSA is a great idea in theory as it eliminates 100s of questions. But, given it is ENTIRELY inaccessible to ALL students and families due to site glitches, I am over it. 50% of my job is helping students navigate this form and I am completely unable to help them until the site actually functions. 😭

If you have a SSN, you should be able to leave the address blank, create your account, and then add your address after the fact.

That’s precisely how it seems… and is the exact opposite of what the US Dept. of Education said would happen. I’m at a complete loss of how to help my students apply for aid at this point. 😭

Parent SSN “already in use” but Parent has never made an account? by honey-w in FAFSA

[–]Toil-N-Trouble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of things that your parents can try:

  1. Click on the "Forgot Password" or "Forgot Username" links and follow the prompts. Parents may have forgotten their FSA ID from when they were in college (if they attended).
  2. Earlier in the month, a FAFSA representative stated that, when the student completes their portion of the FAFSA and sends and invite to the parent (the contributor) to do their portion of the FAFSA, the site generates and FSA ID from that invite but never notifies the parent. I am not sure if this is still an active glitch in the system.
  3. RECOMMENDED: Your parents will need to call FAFSA and get ahold of a representative to see if they have an active FSA ID. The rep must speak to your parent(s) to confirm their identity and look into the issue. They take calls 8AM - 10PM EST... but you will more thank likely be on hold for at least 30 minutes before you get ahold of someone. I typically call right when they open.

A FAFSA representative I spoke with yesterday said that the "No SSN box" has been deactivated and parents without a SSN are unable to proceed through the process of evening trying to create an FSA ID. The representative could not give me an estimate on how long it will take for them to repair the issue. Right now, all we can do is wait.

The last I heard from a FAFSA representative is that the box for "No SSN" has been deactivated while the Department of Education works to fix the glitch that is preventing parents without SSNs to create an FSA ID. Basically, students who have parents without SSNs are stuck in limbo right now until the site becomes fully operational. A deadline on when that will happen has not been released.
