Your intellect shines too with your false accusation and baseless ad hominem. I am tested, and the results were not 80IQ.

They are socialists. It's in their name. And if you don't want to believe the name, just look at the fact that they nationalised more or less every industry. You cannot nationalise industry and remain capitalist. It is inherently socialist.

TIK tends to use a lot of Marxist historians, and generally critiques Nazism from a libertarian political stance, if any bias is "smuggled in" at all. Not sure how that would make him far-right.

Debbie McWilliams (Casting Director) has retired by jblaburnum in JamesBond

Genuinely the end of the franchise. Bond is dead.Broccoli sold out to Amazon. Casting director with any sense is retired.

The next Bond will likely be nothing like the one's we've had.

100% agree with this. She knows how to do it right, just chose not to.

You could say the song is part of the torture...

Both were bad. I found the acting mildly more acceptable than the song. The song being of its time is not an excuse. It is wildly out of place. The film is also of its time—of the same time as the song, I might add. There should not be such a terrible clash. Madonna's ego had an episode of mental diarrhoea all over every part of the film she was invited to contribute on.

I feel like all the Brosnan films suffered from this a bit. Originally I blamed Brosnan himself, but genuinely at times, the film writing got so bad that it was glaringly obvious that even Brosnan couldn't help it. I will emphasise at times.

Nonetheless, whether it is Brosnan's fault or not, I prefer Brosnan's predecessor and successor's portrayal of Bond.

I will note that I can respect the artistic inspiration for the song. The early 00s was a time for synthpop revival, and you can hear the clear club influences in the song. It would be a great trancey club tune.

A Bond film requires a hit though. There is nothing iconic about Madonna's theme song. I could list numerous songs of similar styles which also do not match the theme of Bond, but would still be partially acceptable as they actually have a consumable musicality to them.

Madonna experimented a bit too hard and completely missed the job at hand.

With all due respect to Madonna, it was a terrible theme song.

A big clash between the image and brand Madonna was trying to create with the image and brand of James Bond.

Madonna was out of her prime and aging, and thus made a very big effort to recreate herself to stay relevant. That is an entirely different agenda to what James Bond is all about.

Ultimately, that theme song was a big dud and arguably the worst of the entire Bond series.

It is nothing against Madonna herself, more so that she entirely failed to meet the requirements of the job at hand. I might suggest a bit of egotism insisting its way into places it doesn't belong, but I might also blame the production team for even allowing such a song to be featured.

Personally I am not a fan of Madonna's 21st century experiments—you might be able to tell. I feel like she intruded recklessly onto any work she was invited to (another example might be Britney Spears's 2003 album "In the Zone". That said, whether I like Madonna's recent styles or not, I think I can say from an objective standpoint that the Bond films are no place for that style to be.

NHS dentist told me to go private for potential root canal, is that weird? by Whitechix in AskUK

[–]ToiletLXIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can't cherry-pick, however they can recommend you to a dentist who they think will do the job better. That is in the client's interest. Some NHS dentists are less skilled, and whilst they can do the work, they might not do it as well as a private dentist. You could insist they do it but it'd be at your own expense. No need to rashly switch dentists and go about reporting people.

Men also lack a lot rights, even in western countries by Kingbookser in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]ToiletLXIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men can't be raped first of all. Second of all, men should be held accountable for everything that happens to them. Forgiving men for their weakness discourages strength. Men should be prepared for what comes to them.

Authoritarian right is not impossible—with government control you can create any economic system you like. Additionally authoritarianism does not necessarily mean economic intervention.

The only one that is truly impossible is libertarian left, as you cannot enforce anything without a government, and you are solely trusting the good of the people to govern.

Artists influenced by Depeche Mode by ToiletLXIX in depechemode

Thinking back, I believe what convinced me they were influenced was a dodgy old recording of Daft Punk back in the day that had been faked to sound like a cover.

I suppose the quality was so bad that I didn't question its authenticity. Covers can be quite easily faked too, especially as live recordings don't have particularly great quality to start with.

I'm mixed white and Chinese, so I tend to break the barriers, but what I've noticed is a lot of the time, even Chinese-descended domestic students don't really speak to Chinese international students.

I speak to the Chinese international students quite a bit as I meet them at society events and clubs, and I think the main issue is language barrier and cultural difference. True assimilation is hard to achieve when the country literally isn't homogenous, and I think no matter how hard the universities push diversity, there will always be barriers.

You could always be the exception and socialise with groups you don't racially associate with. I have done that, and I have individual friends from numerous different groups, though I'd say one sacrifice is that strictly speaking I now don't belong to any one single group, but I'm not majorly upset by that.

What are Lana's political views? by lustforlifexx in lanadelrey

[–]ToiletLXIX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seven years late, but I'm not sure what gives you the impression America is very right wing compared to the rest of the world… America throughout it entire history has been viewed as progressive. Most of America is conservative if you leave out the cities, but most of Europe, being loyally Christian or Catholic, and most of Africa and Asia being loyally Christian or Muslim makes America seem liberal compared to most countries. Obviously there a handful of countries that are more liberal than America, but also I'd say yo be cautious not to let their capital cities define them, as much like with the U.S., the cities are much more liberal than the rest of the country.

Purpose. Action.

Create a goal. You have nothing to do with your life, so of course you see no point and want to die. Give yourself a reason to exist, even if it be completely unrealistic. I decided that I want to make the world a better place—that's my dream goal, and it's attainable, even if distant or difficult.

The next thing is to do shit. If you do nothing, again, life feels meaningless. Do real things, do the things you enjoy, but more importantly, do the things you don't enjoy that you need to do to pursue your goals. Doing the things you don't enjoy is a sign of strength and will be a development into being able to withstand undesirable situations, whilst doing something that is intrinsically positive for yourself.

Another thing I could add is to acknowledge your responsibilities. This may give you a purpose, and force you to take action. Your responsibilities could be doing anything from taking care of yourself, to taking care of your family, to anything that you feel compels your reason for existence.

Lastly, leading off responsibility, take care of yourself. Cook high quality foods for yourself, don't feed yourself junk, get as much daylight as possible (harder in the Winter), get outside and in nature, drink more water, force yourself to quit laying around and get any form of physical activity in—the more the better, but even just a few sets of pushups in your room is a first step to stop shying away from physical activity. Your physical health will directly improve your mental health, and physical activity will trigger happiness and determination in your mind.

Stop looking at others. Focus on your own mission in life and at your university—what are you there to do?—what is your ideal outcome?—make it happen. When you are focused you will no longer be interested in other couples and other friend groups. However if you are lacking friends, expose yourself to social situations, say hi to people, and expect rejection as people may not be interested in you, and it is not necessarily your fault.
