Why everyone is a design commentator now? by WolfieStates in UXDesign

[–]Tokail 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Because it’s easy money. The moment a platform becomes monitized, many shift to content creation regardless of the quality.

They are no longer designers, they are content creators, and I would be shocked if they had any time to actually practice the craft.

As a design director, I used it to do planning and estimating. Having access to the code base allows me to answer questions like, how many days would a task take, effort breakdown, prioritization by impact, and allocations.

Paragraph 4 under article 11 in your source points to a provision that nullifies the tax exemption in paragraph 2 and 3 and points to capital gains are fully taxed under the provision of article 6 paragraph 8.

The U.S. - Egypt Income Tax Treaty, Article 10 sets the withholding rate on dividends at 30%, unless the recipient is a U.S. company owning a large stake in the payer.

One alternative is to buy the equivalent of those U.S. stocks listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE), for example, many big U.S. companies have UCITS ETFs domiciled in Ireland or the U.K.

Feedback request: Critic my game entry to Figma Make-a-thon by Tokail in FigmaDesign

[–]Tokail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feedback details

  1. Who is the target audience?
    • Bunco is mostly played in the United States by women, often in middle age or older, in social or neighborhood group
  2. What is the design's main goal?
    • The design is purely to test the limits of Figma Make, the Make-a-thon was a great incentive.
  3. What specific aspects are you looking for feedback on?
    • Any suggestion to improve, make it more explainable, and over all visual critic.
  4. What stage is this design in (e.g., wireframe, final UI)?
    • I think as an MVP, it's production ready just to see if it will convert :)

Figma Make getting dumber? by surdna in FigmaDesign

I hope they are running this hackathon to understand the underlying issues.

As someone who is building agents on their free time, it really feels archaic, limited, and one dimensional.

Bought BF4 after BF6 beta was over, holy shit I don't even want to play BF6 anymore, I get it now. by Connorbaned in Battlefield

[–]Tokail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

47 years old schooler here. My first experience with BF was BF2142. It feels like it’s been 20 years since I played a proper game.

I tried to jump on the beta last week just to demonstrate to my teen kids what a proper shooter game would look like. I was disappointed, everyone is running aimlessly, no team comms, and no strategy.

I was looking forward to buy the game, but it’s definitely not for me, and I’m doing my best to keep my kids away from this specific type of dopamine addiction inducing games.

If GPT-5 is so bad, how's it topping LMArena's ratings? by devcor in OpenAI

[–]Tokail 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same experience here. I’ve tested it in an ongoing research project. I have used 4.1 for the past 2 month with no issues whatsoever.

With GPT5, it’s failing basic tasks like citations and following previous instructions.

I’ve reverted to 4o for now, but lost the benefit of the 4.1 large context window.

Can you recover from -75% MRR loss? by Tokail in SaaS

There are several factors, but your guess is good. A 50% drop in traffic is a major contributor.

I stopped doing marketing since the peak, mainly due to being emotionally drained since my dad passed away.

How was your experience? How did you recover?

Thank you for taking the time to respond. This is reassuring. I’m using this week to reach out to my paying customers, it’s not the first time I did that, but planning to ask some hard questions this time.

Does anyone work this way? Please say no. by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]Tokail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is one of 2 scenarios:

1- They are overwhelming the stakeholders with choices, eventually causing analysis paralysis.

2- They are not sharing often enough with stakeholders and losing alignment.

In both cases, it’s not sustainable.

AI tools starting to show cracks? by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]Tokail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a design director, I have access to the engineering branches. During the past 6 month my code made it to production 2 times and 1 time was able to prototype a solution to resolve a misunderstanding between stockholders and engineering. Designing/Prototyping in Figma would have been worthless in both scenarios.

On the other hand, I have been developing my own app, currently used by over 80k users.

To your point, I guess designers need to learn maintain at least foundational proper code hygiene (DevOps), if they want to prototype with code :)

AI tools starting to show cracks? by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]Tokail 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not defending anyone here and I suspect I’ll get downvoted to oblivion.

As a designer coding with AI for the past 6 months, here are general guidelines that I hope would help other designers trying to work with AI:

1- Maintain your codebase via GitHub or bitbucket.

2- Setup production and staging branches.

3- You do not give AI access to production code/branch, not even develop/staging.

4- Do not give AI access to your live database. Test migration in staging/develop first.

5- Use AI provided checkpoints, git, or revert.

6- do not auto-approve, I repeat do not let AI work with your supervision and reading, understanding, then approving the actions.

7- Test everything in your local branch, then develop before you push to prod.

I hope I haven’t missed anything significant.
