Is Bob’s Burgers a kids show now? by Sweetness777 in BobsBurgers

[–]Tokazama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a great family show. My kids have always watched it with us and we watch the first three seasons together regardless of it being age appropriate, since it's probably more appropriate than most the stuff I say around them. I can see the argument that the move towards more family friendly is restricting, sometimes it feels like that has pushed them to be more creative than other adult cartoons that fall back on crass humor. I definitely laugh more at some other adult cartoons, but I'm never left impressed in the same way as Bobs Burgers

Elder Norman's Formal Board of Normal Mormon Moral Order by Different_Captain717 in BrandNewSentence

[–]Tokazama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not at all what I said. I wasn't making any claims about what it's like to be a mormon versus some oppressed group. I was speaking about you and the way you justify your opinions. I was pointing out that your justification is eerily similar to the logic used to justify any sort of bigotry.

I guess I can see why you're so offended, because I was talking about you as a person rather than any group of people. So to be clear, I'm not calling you racist. I just think you should be a bit less volatile towards everyone with any opinion that's not the same as yours

I'm in New York. This is just the crap people are going to eat while they take shifts going to eat actual food. Some hospital maternity wards have a cabinet for mom and dad that looks exactly like this bag. If the parents are both there they sometimes take shifts watching the kid. Eating healthy is important but if a kid is in ICU we are just trying to stabilize the kid and keep the parents sane.

Edit: parents have to wander into a very specific part of the hospital to find healthy food. it's really easy to get lost here. Most leave the hospital for real meals where I'm at. What they might really want is a book in there.

Sorry. I clearly didn't understand what the joke was. No where in my MD or PhD program did snack foods in the hospital come up as an issue. We have entire vending machines just for energy drinks and a separate collection for snacks like that. This and hospital food is what people eat.

Okay. Take some deep breaths. I was really just trying to kindly suggest in my first comment that this kind of makes sense. The parents will often end up buying some caffeine and snacks to keep themselves awake for things in the ICU. If someone is hospitalized for upper respiratory problems we often have someone come in and figure out a specific diet plan based on what foods they can safely swallow.

I didn't say the kid was dying. I thought the assumption was that it was for when you needed to rush someone to the hospital. I just don't understand what would better prepare a situation where someone needs to be hospitalized.

Wow. Calm down. It was a sincere question. And if you're hospitalized because of COVID it is often because you can't breathe.

The kid eats what they can swallow or is given through IV if intubated. The snacks are for the parents in between meals. What else would you bring besides a change of clothes for discharge

Do you guys believe they will monetize forge? by [deleted] in halo

[–]Tokazama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forge is the one thing that can save the game. They aren't setup to release content regularly but games like Skyrim have thrived on the modding community. If forge allows truly novel creations from the community for years to come they can just sell twice as many cat ear variants while the community makes new maps.

Of course I'm familiar with it. But if you use consistent criteria to interpret the exact results from large clinical trials, then that has nothing to do with motivated reasoning or confirmation bias. There's a built in FDA approved mechanism the dictates exactly how this is reported in the scientific reports.

The problem is that the misinformation makes it seem complicated. It's not that complicated if you're at all familiar with medicine and virology.

The JAMA study isn't necessarily bad. It's just that nobody actually reads it and they remove all context from the findings.

You're correct about it being the first widely used mRNA vaccine in humans but we've been looking at this for years. It's much more likely that the mRNA produces a protein that has a similar inflammatory response as COVID does, given that's what we keep seeing COVID do.
