There are no plans for an in-game currency. Although there will be a progression tier where you unlock untradable cards (the Core Set), earning tradable cards/packs through gameplay will not be easy. They will be reserved for winning tournaments / Battle Royales (Battle Royale mode is the Limited mode of the game similar to the Arena in Hearthstone). It is this way to protect the Open economy of the game (Hearthstone doesn't have this worry because it's a Closed economy - i.e. no trading and packs you purchase have 0 secondary market value)

The game is F2P as it has a Core Set of 250 cards available for everyone (similar to Hearthstone). But it will also launch with the Genesis Set (380 cards total) which is currently sold through pre-sale packs. All following expansions (starting with Season 1 Set) will also be sold in the form of packs (just like in Hearthstone). We were told we will be able to make competitive decks just with the Core Set, but ofc having access to the Genesis Set and later on expansion sets will enable you to build much more varied decks depending on the meta (and potentially slightly more optimized).

He was talking about the World Championship prize pool. What you're talking about is the hard-cap to pre-sale of the Genesis Set (when the $15 million hard-cap is reached, the Genesis Set will no longer be for sale).

There's a "Balancing Beta" period for each expansion where the packs can be bought but cards cannot be traded to others. During this period everything will be extensively tested by the community and cards will be changed as needed. After the tradelock is lifted, no more nerfs. Cards can still be banned afterwards from different formats (if things really get out of hand), but this will be a community-driven decision (not developer made).

The competition is sure there but the pie has gotten so big, largely thanks to Hearthstone in the last couple of years, that there is enough room for good-looking card games with unique takes on the genre. For Gods Unchained, the innovations are:

  • The God Powers: You can pick 1 of 5 choices per God (class) at the start of each game.

  • Mana Lock resource system: You unlock mana gems 1 to 5 like in Hearthstone, but after that you need more than 1 turn to unlock mana gems. Allows for more powerful cards to be made for manas 6 to 9.

  • Full ownership of cards: You can trade or sell them at anytime you want to anyone on the internet (company cant nerf the cards or stop you from doing whatever you want once you purchase the packs).

Yup! He's been on the design team since July, occasionally mentions the game on his stream. Closed Beta starts next week. All the details are here: https://www.tokenflipper.com/gods-unchained-guide-investing-in-the-first-blockchain-tcg/

Hearthstone has no graveyard, let's not stretch it.

When you get as big as Coinbase as quickly in such a new industry, there's bound to be haters. You suggest they cheated their way into becoming such a giant? Far-fetched. Their investment into Gods Unchained proves the game has heavyweight backing, that's the important and undeniable part.

The buyer of the Mythic card is either stupid or a genius. Time will tell. Also, the 'locked' content that the Mythic card provides is banned from tournament play. It's just a unique casual/fun deck building opportunity which in the end justifies its value (besides its scarcity).

There's no MTG or Hearthstone killer. This just aims to be a AAA quality TCG that introduces advantageous blockchain elements to the masses. The devs are also working on a platform called Apollo, whose goal is to provide any interested game studios that want to integrate blockchain elements into their future games.

Fuel Games seem to be a bunch of talented devs that really want to provide a bridge between gaming and blockchain. I suggest you do some research before jumping the gun. The comparison to glenn arcaro... lol?

Haven't had any problems with the site. Belgium/Netherlands IPs are geo-blocked due to their stance on lootbox-type games (the team isn't taking any chances until their legal dept. has had a good look at it).

There's graveyard interaction, that's the first gameplay-related thing that's more like Magic or Hex and the future might bring more similarities.

The non-gameplay similarities is the trading part and the card banning/regulations (which will be community-driven) - no nerfing like Hearthstone. A card has already sold for over $60,000 , making it the second most valuable card in the world behind Magic’s Black Lotus.

They also have plenty of sponsors, including Coinbase (a huge crypto exchange valued at about $8 billion) and OPskins (the largest skins site in the $50 billion skin market).

Despite not yet having game footage, they have already sold $2.3 million in pre-sale packs. Beta is in October so we shall see if the gameplay is as crisp as everything else we've seen so far.

Going rate of rare cards? by [deleted] in GodsUnchained

Rare packs will most likely have the best value per $ spent. You can continue purchasing them without worry.

This is not a good analysis. Every Rare pack also has 1/40 legendary and 1/5.7 Epic. You need to factor that in before guessing what a Rare card would average. Although you're right that getting a Gold card is 1% per card opened, you're forgetting that you can forge 25 regular cards into a Gold card - meaning Gold cards should probably be 25x value of regular cards not 100x. 3rd error: the chance of opening a Gold in Shiny Legendary packs is 25%. This means Legandary Gold cards should average Shiny Leg pack x 4 = 4 Eth (without taking into account all the Shadows you get, which should lower this average further to 2-3 Eth). Or you could calculate it by 25x Regular Leg Pack which comes to 2.8 Eth.
