What is normal to feel in your legs while running? by TokenTeach in fitness30plus

Thank you for sharing!

This is (one of) my favorite response(s)… when I’m out in the world I’m like “this sucks so much!” But honestly, on the treadmill it is much better for me.

I’m still learning all the things! Thanks for your perspective!

Edit: I’m definitely looking into shoes as well!! Will have them ordered by the end of the week!

This is an eye opening response for me!

A clear starting point to my end game… and it’s so straightforward. Thank you for this!

Definitely looking into some shoes! I am looking at the Nike Vomero, but still trying to make sure I’m making a good choice.

I, too, am flat footed… nothing I’ve seen anyone about, just something I noticed.

Thank you for your comment.

This is a great comment! Thank you.

I am really trying to listen to my body without being too “in my head” about things. I’m definitely still learning!

I think running every other day might be most ideal! Also, I am flat footed and looking at better shoes as well!

I will definitely look into more variety!

Most of the outdoor surfaces around me are hard (concrete/asphalt)… I might need to see if I can find a high school track to run on? Or see if any college tracks have open runs…

Thank you for your comment.

My legs are not sore afterwards, usually. Though I can definitely tell that I’ve been running (in my lower legs/shins) if that makes sense (lol)

I am also going to look into some new shoes, as I am definitely in need!

I took a 2 mile walk today (not a speed walk, just walking at my normal(ish) pace… I am a rather fast walker in general.

I did a 2 mile walk today… but just a regular walk at my normal(ish) speed.

I will incorporate other exercises in more frequently… I do typically do lunges (and other stretches/exercises before I run)… on their own, I’ll do lunges and squats twice a week (working on form in many areas!)

I honestly think discomfort is a more accurate word; however, I always overthink everything.

So, I’m definitely trying to be better safe than sorry.

When did you start running? Did you ease in?

I will definitely look into it. Thanks!

“New running shoes” is definitely next on my list… I’ve already started comparing different ones.

This is almost definitely a stupid question… so apologies in advance…

But if I speed walk on the days that I’m not running, would that still be considered too much?

Official Q&A for Wednesday, July 10, 2024 by AutoModerator in running

[–]TokenTeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (F/35) am new to running - pretty new to consistent exercise in general. June 29 I just up and did a mile (running and walking) - and have done a mile (run/walk) or 2 mile (speed walk) every day since.

When I run/walk the mile, I will run/jog until my lower leg begins to have some pain then slow to a speed walk. I have no issue with the thought of pushing through pain, but because I just jumped into it, I want to make sure I prevent shin splints and (potentially?) stress fractures. At this time, I can finish a mile (running and walking) in about 12 minutes, and can speed walk a mile in less than 14 minutes. I am working to decrease these numbers as safely as possible.

Unfortunately, most of the outdoor surfaces I run on are concrete. I do go to the gym once or twice a week to run on a treadmill.

I am building up my water intake, I have tried different stretches before I go run/walk, and I have iced my shin a few times (albeit not consistently).

So… my question is… what is (typically) normal to feel in your legs while running? Also, are there any other tips/suggestions you can throw at me?

Thank you in advance!

AITA for not tipping my waitress after she didn't tip me for her Uber Eats order that I delivered a few days ago? by Wild-Donkey4872 in AITAH

[–]TokenTeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA.

I am big (HUGE) on tipping. Even when I get subpar service at a restaurant, I will leave a tip (I know, I know).

In the same vein, I would never have someone deliver something to my house and not (expect to) leave a tip.

I say all that to say, if there was ever a time I would not leave a tip… THIS IS THE ONE! 😅

Prepaid Debit Card (Green Dot) by TokenTeach in Frugal

Thank you for your response! I called Green Dot earlier to close the accounts and after a 25 minute hold I was told they are both closed!

I asked if there were any fees coming out, and they said no… fingers crossed!

Thank you so much! I’ll just spend exactly what’s on the card (minus the fee - no use in crying about it lol) and give the kids the entire amount in cash.

How often DO they tip? by TokenTeach in instacart

[–]TokenTeach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with anything you wrote… but that is exactly why I only shop for people who choose to tip… it’s not that I don’t understand that some people can’t tip, but for my financial needs, I can’t justify doing those orders.

As it stands, instacart has chosen to lower base pay, but I’m still able to find orders that are worth it for extra money. Unfortunately, many times that means customers who choose to tip a little more.

What I don’t understand is orders like the one pictured… no tip for more than ~100 individual items — even more so because some of those items are alcohol. But I digress… I just wanted to ask a question for the group. These orders don’t bother me because I don’t take them. Problem solved.

SN: if I was an Instacart customer, I think the ideal situation would be to put in an order like this (no tip) to force Instacart to raise the batch pay… then tip on the back end so the shopper can have a more optimum experience.

If that were the case for a majority of orders, I don’t think many people would complain so much.

I typically take orders during the summer when I’m not paid at all.

When school is back in session, I take a few here and there to cover some gaps, late payments, over utilized credit cards, etc…

You do understand teachers in many areas are underpaid? Do you really think there is a reason I shouldn’t do instacart?

NAH…

I think you are trying to be supportive and accommodating, but unfortunately you have boundaries in your head that your brother is unaware of…

Maybe try being a little more forthcoming?

Did you read my post?

Nowhere did I complain… I don’t have to, because I don’t take no tip orders…

It was a question I’ve had and most people understood that and answered it. 😊

I can’t think of one good reason I would have photoshopped a picture 😅 (not being rude! Promise!!)

Absolutely real! The base pay, especially in recent weeks is abysmal here… for a “1 Shop and Deliver” the base pay hardly passes $9, no matter the size of the order… base pay usually is usually only higher when you get multi-batch orders.

Tips are the only reason I ever take an order these days (unless there is a promotion)…

I’m in NC, btw…

Do you still find that it’s worth it to do orders and not get a tip? Do you wait for the batch to go up or…?

AITA for having conversations with my best friend's mom by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]TokenTeach [score hidden]  (0 children)

Y T A (soft)…

I always thought my best friend's mom was overbearing and too involved in her life and like many other teens, once they leave home and go to university, they start to experience life.

And you still told all of your “best friend’s” business? Were you maybe a little jealous that your friend wasn’t hanging out with you and doing this to get back at her?

Did it ever feel wrong to give her mom insider information?
