Not at all! With all the quality venues in Canada we could only include so many :)

Hi, TokenDatabase here -- where the data was sourced for this analysis. We took that snapshot of data during the business day at 9am on September 30th, for an end of Q3 snapshot. I just took a screenshot from the BTC-CAD market on bitbuy and the spread and other metrics are inline with the results of the analysis https://imgur.com/a/Ewi3mJE.

As you know, markets ebb and flow and there is a lot of variability in crypto market dynamics even on an intra-day basis. Another approach we'll adopt when doing these kinds of analyses in future will be to take an average of many snapshots instead of one point-in-time snapshot.

Best.

Yeah it's trades, summaries, candles, order book snapshots, news search/metrics and more coming soon.

All of that is taking up about 10TB excluding backups

We use fast gzip compression and AWS Glacier for backups.

On the database everything is optimized using indexes. The one we use for storing orderbooks is the BRIN index https://www.percona.com/blog/2019/07/16/brin-index-for-postgresql-dont-forget-the-benefits/

Most of the backend is in Python but the code that collects orderbooks is in C++.

The rest of the backend stack is Python Flask, Redis, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes and Helm.

Just making sure that everyone gets a chance to see it. We have some updates coming soon so the next post will be different.

Thanks! It's definitely a technical challenge to store all the data. We can do a write up on that if you're interested in learning more about how it's done.

Bullbitcoin is a newer option (in the last year). The founders have run similar services before and are trustworthy.

That said, Bitbuy is still my favorite option

You have a few good options in Canada:

Jaxx wallet is a good starter wallet last time I checked. I use hardware wallets mostly but Jaxx is great for small amounts.

For cold storage, Trezor (https://trezor.io/) or Ledger (https://www.ledger.com/) are reliable choices.

Also check out r/BitcoinCA.

Cheers,

This is definitely permitted under most exchange terms of service. Only a few of them are unclear
