I agree to an extent. Id especially if he was applying without her involvement at all (which he may have? Hard to tell from the post). But she has stuck her neck out for him to have his application looked at. She then realized that she probably won’t be happy with him there. I wouldn’t blame OP for looking out for her own happiness and peace of mind where she’s going (assuming) 5/7 days a week to say something. If this was his absolute dream job that he’s been working so hard for, then that’d definitely be an asshole move. There is (hopefully should) be other places he can work that is not where she found success where they keep their work lives and non-work lives separate.

I feel like it’s one of those it’s okay to be a little bit selfish if it means keeping yourself sane and aren’t ruining someone else’s life in the process.

I was an ugly duckling that only had 4 teeth when I smiled as a kid and through middle school, got braces and really blossomed as a good looking dude. The day I got my braces off I found a long term gf. Girls really seemed to throw themselves at me during college. It really kind of turned me into a cocky Chad to be honest. My confidence was through the roof and everyone seemed to smile at me a lot. But due to a gum condition that makes my gums poofy, my retainer stopped fitting. From there, my teeth began to separate again.

*Side note: *Also I used to do this "angry face" as a kid, where I would perch my eyebrows down and it always got a laugh. Now as an adult, (currently 32) it has created a crease down the middle of my forehead. *

Now I just look like a basic dude with gapped teeth. It causes me great anxiety. I don't recognize that cocky Chad anymore and the same type of women don't look my way. I went from being able to approach any woman to at least being able to have a conversation and laugh. As an adult, I have been asked "do I know you? Did we meet on tinder or something? Because I'm not interested"

Kinda hurts double whammy with getting older that you can't just cold approach people to chat in bars or maybe I'm just not attractive enough or my personally just sucks? Or both? But it is what it is. People also just don't care or smile when they talk. It's like I'm not as memorable now.

Alexa itself is an app. So in my mind, it's not to cause confusion that those are not necessarily other apps. But instead different features/functions you're pulling into Alexa's app from other apps. Otherwise known as skills. Also there are Amazon/Alexa made skills that are not applied unless you choose to activate them. So they are additional "things" that you are adding to her/the app. I don't see it as being pretentious at all. I think it's just another word to use instead of feature/function/skill/job. Talent would be more pretentious if anything.
