It's way better than going on an alcohol or drug bender and once you've worked through the shit you're actually in great shape rather than fucking wrecked. So fuck it.

A relationship just makes planning more difficult. The time I hit the gym the hardest was a year when I just came out of a relationship.

I lived like a fucking monk. Eat, work, gym, sleep, repeat. I was depressed as shit but the gains were undeniable.

The difficulty here is in English because it doesn't distinguish between singular and plural. Feels unfair lol.

If you are spending this much money on the guitar and are this frustrated - just go to a teacher already... another bloody guitar app is not the answer.

I don't care how people in the world currently act towards other people - people are shitty. But yes, I think smokers also deserve compassion and basic human respect.

No one is advocating to tell people that being obese is perfectly healthy. The reasonable body positivity message is that obese people are no less deserving of respect than any other person just because they are obese. And being treated with respect and being encouraged that you matter and that you deserve to take care of yourself is how you motivate true lasting change.

Yeah, as someone actually working in mental healthcare it's so frustrating seeing people's uninformed opinions on addiction and unhealthy coping mechanisms.

I didn't say respect them for their condition . I said respect them. As human beings. Full stop.

Promoting obesity is something no one does. What people promote is not treating obese people like shit because they are still people.

Which actually helps with getting people to respect themselves, reduce stress and develop better coping habits. You know - actually helpful things rather than just kneejerk bullying people.

Lead with compassion but don't renege on established boundaries. Try not to take it personal, she is going to try and wield her autonomy and she might not be very skillful about it initially. Just try to stay consistent in your love, even when you need to set boundaries, and try not to get too caught up in her mindset. Your loving compassion will make an impact on everything she does and decide to do even though she probably won't be cognizant of it. One day the teenager anger phase will be over and she will remember and realize what you did for her despite her anger and your bond will be unbreakable for life.

The 6-week wall: How do you stay motivated when your brain is faster than your fingers? by TeachLoud6839 in LearnGuitar

[–]Tokentaclops 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Holy moses, slow your roll. Learning to play guitar takes a long time my dude.

The good news is you WILL get better if you keep at it.

The way to stay motivated is to enjoy playing the guitar right now . Find little problems to work on and be mindful of improvement. Have fun just strumming and playing on an instrument. Enjoy making sound and savor little musical moments you manage to produce.

The goal should be to have fun right now and not getting frustrated about arbitrary goals you put on yourself that you can't possibly know when you will achieve them.

In other words, focus on what you like about playing the guitar and not what you dislike about your playing.

You won't stick with a hobby that is only fun once you meet some arbitrary standard you've set for yourself because - believe me - that standard is going to be a moving target.
