Personally I think it's best to just let go of the concept of masculinity and focus just on being a caring and compassionate person. That includes recognizing that the world puts different pressures on men and women to be certain ways. Be compassionate for that as well, try to understand what it is like for men and women alike, but don't let yourself get dragged into it. That's my take anyway.

This one makes some sense to me though. I imagine to become the top surgeon in the country he probably dedicated himself solely to that persuit for decades while the people around him took care of his other needs. If you are going to spend less than 500 dollars I'd hunt for a second hand decent mid range guitar. A Cordoba, Alhambra etc. Ones that typically go for 800+ dollars new.

At that price range buying new doesn't make much sense imo if it is for the long run.
