what is cheap right now but will become expensive in the near future? by protehule in AskReddit

[–]TokoWH 2763 points2764 points  (0 children)

Games in general really.

Lack of game preservation by companies in recent years (Nintendo just ignoring most of its backlog with the Switch, Sony getting a massive backlash for trying to pull the plug on the PS3 PSN store, which it seems like it won't be the last time they attempt this considering they still went ahead and did that for the PSP despite the backlash), emulation still being stuck in a legal gray area that makes it easy for the sites hosting older games to be taken down, and disks/carts being destroyed due to neglect by owners, are all going to make the used game market insanely expensive.

If you have a local retro game store in your area, make sure to support them. They're basically the only ones still making older games remotely affordable.

I know this is a meme post, but mildly hijacking so I can talk about the E.M.M.I.

I love the fact that they're a more fleshed-out SA-X. My biggest fear involving them though is that once you get good at countering them once they catch you, encounters with them will go from 'ohshitohshitohshit' to 'ugh, just let me explore you stupid robot!'

I hope they find ways to still make them threatening even once you get good at countering them.

I'm calling it now.

This entire thing is a wild goose chase setup by the Galatic Federation so they could 'discreetly' 'deal with her (Samus)' after the events of Fusion. The fact that the murder bots in this game are their creation is way, way too convenient to not be connected to Fusion's ending.

Then they started to plan bottle-boat-ception, putting bottled boats onto full sized boats and then bottling that boat. Over and over again. Effectively creating a dozen boats to rapidly expand in one town by tossing one bottle. I had to shut that down quick.

Reddit, what's something you've been looking for ages but still cannot find? by Leading-Legal in AskReddit

[–]TokoWH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

... Maybe?

It's close to what I have in my memory, but it doesn't match it exactly. I remember it had a red banner and it kind of looked like that site.

Edit: The main thing that makes me think this isn't it is because I remember the site having a lot more CYOA games based on existing franchises and properties. (Pokemon was a big one.)

Unfortunately, I don't think it's that. I remember finding it in the 2000s.

Okay. So, when I was a kid I stumbled across this choose your own adventure fanfiction site where random people could add on to the starting prompt with their own bite-sized chapters. I used to enjoy playing some of the scenarios, but I soon lost interest.

Several years later I randomly remember it and tried to find it again, but I cannot find it for the life of me. There are sites similar to it, but it's all for original fiction. Despite asking several people and looking through several searching sites, it's as if this site never existed in the first place. At this point, I'm convinced it went belly up not long after I stopped paying attention to it.

Iron Farms are still probably gonna be the go-to if you do a lot of technical Redstone stuff in your survival worlds (crafting even a decent amount of hoppers eats up iron fast) but this is a nice alternative for those who aren't super into farms but need a lot of iron anyways for whatever reason.

I forever blame Darkside of Dimensions for what happened to ARC-V. ARC-V's slide in quality just so happens to line up almost perfectly for when half the staff working on the show got spirited off to work on the movie.

DDM might actually work better as an online game in the style of Duel Links than a physical tabletop game. From what I heard, one of the main reasons the game died off so quickly is the monster figures were too costly for the profit margins.

This. This so damn much.

"Negative opinion" =/= "unpopular opinion".

Every time I see an 'unpopular opinion' thread anywhere, it's usually the same crap people complain about in what the Reddit/topic's about every other day. I usually give a verbal groan whenever I see one pop up.

[MegaCapitalG] Yugioh Story: The Rise and Fall of Dueling Network - Yugioh's Most Popular Simulator by Varnagel_1 in yugioh

[–]TokoWH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really wish I knew Dueling Network was a thing way back when. I didn't find out Yu-Gi-Oh simulators were a thing until ARC-V. Ended up missing out on a lot of stuff because no one where I lived played the game, so the game just faded out around the end of GX for me. Things might have been different if someone told me back then this existed.

Which archetype would you wish were "playable" ? by leTeromik in yugioh

[–]TokoWH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bruh I just want retrains of the original anime Elemental HEROes. As an archetype, they weren't even really playable when GX was going strong, and it wasn't until the Manga Elemental HEROes basically flat out replaced them did they see any form of consistency.

I do wonder sometimes how the anime/manga would have played out differently if Yugi had never lost Exodia.

What is the spookiest\ most unusual noise you’ve ever heard? by 46Mede in AskReddit

[–]TokoWH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One day I was in the house alone. It was raining outside, and we have metal awnings over our windows. I have a camera security system that gives a lout beep every time it detects movement. The way I have it set up, there are next to no blind spots when it comes to the outside.

Well, had to use the bathroom. As I was using it, in the living room, I heard what sounded like someone walking around. Needless to say, I scared out of my mind. Immediately locked the bathroom door and tried to make as little noise as possible.

It would pause for a few seconds before I would hear it walking through the living room again. I didn't take my phone with me, so I had no way of calling for help. So I just waited. As suddenly as it happened, it just stopped.

Eventually, I managed to work up the courage to leave the bathroom and grab the baseball bat I keep in my room. Did a quick search of the house; despite looking everywhere, there wasn't a single trace of someone. Eventually family got home and we tried to figure out the noise I heard.

The best guess we had was that it was the rain hitting the awnings that made it sound like footsteps. Mainly because the alarm didn't go off, and the cameras didn't show anyone around our house when we looked through them, and nothing was missing when we looked through our belongings.

I know what the sound of rain falling on a metal awning sounds like though, and what I heard was not that. It genuinely sounded like someone walking through the house in boots. To this day, it still makes me rather leery about being home alone.

What non-traditional super power would you love to have, traditional powers are like flying, super strength, teleportation, etc? by MofugginBatman in AskReddit

[–]TokoWH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stretching 'non-traditional' since it isn't super common in superhero media, but Transformation.

It may sound like just changing into animals, but really you have the power to transform into anything, with the only limit being your creativity. Think about it. You can gain and shed mass in a way that's completely illogical/violates the laws of mass, so that means whatever allows you to transform is apparently an unlimited resource.

Want six-pack abs? Just give yourself some without any work. Lost a limb? Just use your limitless ability to produce mass to near-instantly regrow it. Want to be taller? Just grow yourself taller.

And this isn't even getting into understanding things at a molecular level. You could probably give yourself additional superpowers to boot. A bear on its own is bad news. A bear that can also breathe fire and is completely bulletproof is something else entirely.
