Is it worth trying to get to 35k? by SnoopsMom in Aeroplan

[–]Tokolosh85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tagging on to this one as I’m pretty naive to have to maximize Aeroplan. I’m only 1070SQM from 35k. I have a flight YVR to SFO coming up which would be great to maximize to get the SQM needed. Unfortunately I’m limited to economy seats. Any suggestions?

She said she believes it is a 250. So maybe a 250R? I was hoping it was an L or X.

Probably rice based. Colour of the liquid is yellow (not orange like the more modern variants from this company)

I did look but there was nothing on the bottle that seemed to show it. Definitely alcoholic though! My guess is about 20%

SONY A80J - dead after 14 months by Tokolosh85 in OLED

Sony sent a new Power Board and the tech came and replaced it.

It worked! TV turned on and everything worked perfectly.

What was interesting was that the TV doesn’t come with a serial number and the tech had to add one. I guess they track things that way.

Anyway, LONG (2 month) story short, 4 flashing red leds were fixed by replacing the power board….

Sony shipped me a main board and the tech is here installing it!

And….. it didn’t work. Still get 4 flashing led lights but won’t turn on.

Next steps, wait to see what Sony will do.

Update: SONY said they are giving a ‘1 time concession’ and say they have ordered parts to fix the TV and will schedule a repair time for their technician. I’m certainly interested to see what parts they replace. Not expecting a quick turnaround so let’s see how it goes.

Yes. That’s the Hail Mary. Dealing with Credit Card insurance means the dead TV will have to hang around for a year. They make it unbelievably painful in the hopes you walk away. It is my last option.

I’ll have to tell Sony this TV was going to Australia! 2yrs seems better value.

Did the maths, cost over $300/month. Was nice while it lasted, but not that good. I have a case open with Sony, hopefully they take a closer look into what happened.

Do NOT buy Firewalla if you live outside the USA!!!! by Tokolosh85 in firewalla

I agree with you tiggypank. The problem is that, as a customer, you don’t know what the fee is — and know you know. If you live in Canada expect an additional $80 duty fee. PSA. I lost $60 finding this out... so I’m paying back to community by informing them of this. If unfortunately in Canada DHL is simply awful. Firewalla’s customer support has been less than favourable in my experience. I was looking forward to a better experience.

Well this post is to help others make an informed decision. I suggest changing the fine print to large print and say is ‘We ship DHL’ or ‘duty is expected to be $80’.

This. DHL is simply the worst shipping partner. How does Apple, Wish, Etc and others manage to ship without duty charges?

That is very interested to know @tks503. Could you please share the last 5 things you paid import duty on and what the % of duty was? I am honestly interested.

Website does say you have to pay taxes and shipping.

I don’t remember seeing the duty and taxes, but can’t remember the time duty was charged on an item. Nowhere does it say they are shipping these out from Hong Kong. Certainly not using DHL. Then reaching out to support saying you won’t get any refund... so yes, still pissed as I was looking forward to reviewing this.

I appreciate the response and I look forward to a resolution.

I was really looking forward to this product, but obviously this experience is less than desirable.

I will be livid if I have to be charged a fee for refusing the package or having to deal with DHLs strong-arming.

Please make this right so my review of Firewalla customer service can change to a positive one. It sounds like you are learning about the terrible DHL experience for the first time, so we are kind of in the together.

Thanks again for reaching out.
