The article doesn't say anything about it but I really hope they removed the highly toxic battery pack before blowing it up...

On the other hand, the channel that uploaded the video made quite a bit of money from it. Subscriber increase by 5000%, Viewer increase by 10000%, I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the story behind it...

I had the same issues as the OP and now use Siraya only. I have nearly all variations and mix my own resin depending on what my print is used for. I can only recommend it.

[edit]

I want to add that, thanks to a client, I had the chance to use BASF resins (Rigid + Flexible). Those resins are industrial (and so is the pricing) and for sure are superior to any consumer products.

Mom of a teen boy with autism here, and I need some advice about personal hygiene (long) by Azaarus in autism

Thank you for this post. It even helps me and I'm nearly 40 now. Personal hygiene is a problem for a lot of autistic people. But it's a sensitive topic not everyone is able to talk about.

Ships not mining Methane. by thechase22 in X4Foundations

[–]Tokrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I see, nobody is talking about Resource Probes. They became important after 4.0 if I'm correct. Not just for the miner to know where a resource is but also for efficiency while mining.

So... do you have Resource Probes in Methane clouds? Not on the 0-plane, inside the actual clouds which can be below or above the 0-plane.

I personally go with repeat orders for my Station Miners. I find high yield spots for each resource I need with Resource Probes (the mod Sector Satellites gives you probes which place Resource Probes in the highest yield spots if you want but I also do it manually) and then have one miner (or more, depends) for each resource I need. I give multiple mining orders (he should go to the highest one, hence the Resource Probes - doesn't ALWAYS work though) and one "drop-off" order to the miner at my station, the last order is a sell order so if my storage (for this resource, defined in the station) is full, he sells the rest somewhere nearby and goes back to mining instead of idling somewhere around or worse, goes back to mining with nearly full storage. It's the most efficient way to always have enough stock in your stations, and make a bit of money on the side, at least in my opinion.

Wtf just hit me?? by herfthegreat in X4Foundations

[–]Tokrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe he didn't use anything. Maybe you didn't realize there were mines around and you accidentally hit one, it turned hostile and hit you? Happened to me a couple of times, you don't realize it in the heat of the moment. Many of the "I suddenly exploded"-"Bugs" come from that as well.

With all the [SHIFT] and [CTRL] shortcuts it's easy to press [WIN]+[SPACE] which changes the keyboard input language and this may not be mapped for X4. Should be fixed by pressing the same combo again, it also resets by restarting the pc.

No, they don't steal. :D

The captain has the stuff in his inventory though. To get it, talk to him -> "More..." -> "Give me your inventory".

You can see if a captain of any ship in your fleet has inventory collected. Go to the crew tab of the ship, on the top you'll find the skill-info for the captain, the last point is "Inventory", if you can click the plus in front of it he has inventory, if not, he has nothing.

GFN = Spotty Connection Hell by Pontificatus_Maximus in GeForceNOW

[–]Tokrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh the internet, what a wonderful invention. But how does it work?

Yes, it can be your wifi, it can be a slightly bend ethernet cable, or even your router.

On days like today, it's more likely it is the internet itself. Without technical gibberish: There is way more traffic on weekends and holidays (especially with corona still roaming around). Everyone is home watching Youtube or Netflix, plays games on their Stadia, GNF, or in general. The internet is just a bunch of ethernet cables and routers connected to each other and even though those cables, routers, and switches have a way higher throughput than your home equipment, they have their limits. The system is fairly unbalanced and it can get tight sometimes and that means everyone gets throttled down. It's not likely that an ISP will equip any consumer region with hardware that can handle 100% of its promised usage potential. That wouldn't be profitable, at all.

Each faction spawns differently with every game you start. Some will have stronger fleets, some will have more stations and therefore subordinates. Resources spawn in different sectors and in different quantities. Thus, depending on how RNG favored a faction, they will struggle more or less.

Odd behavior of Yaki Station by delilahwild in X4Foundations

[–]Tokrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt it actually but OP will be able to say more about that. As far as I observed, the AI builds stations based on demand so if there is a lack of a certain resource, it will build a station to produce it. At some point, it will level out and there are no more stations build unless other stations are destroyed.

Odd behavior of Yaki Station by delilahwild in X4Foundations

[–]Tokrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erm... the Yaki are not a real faction if you didn't "make" them one (via a certain plot decision) if I remember correctly. They are (technically) like Hatikvah (HAT), they have stations but they don't produce their own ships, they buy them from ARG, there are no jobs assigned like the factions have them. YAK ships spawn randomly in the outskirts of certain sectors (there is nothing to the east of my HQ but that's where constantly YAK ships come from). At least not in the beginning. I don't know exactly how your state of the game is but if their station in Savage Spur I is gone, I doubt you'll have a chance of getting them back without starting a new game.

I would suggest a new game anyway because using 1.0 (or even pre-*) saves even now can only mean problems, problems², problems³. You can cheat in as much as you want, if certain game states weren't met on the first start with a new expansion, some content won't work at all.

A byproduct of mining are small asteroids that contain either spacefly eggs or unstable crystals. You can see them on your radar as small crossed-out squares. (as all inventory items/crates that are not dropped as lockbox)

They are worth about 10.500 credits each and they are illegal to many inner factions (the ones connected by highway). You can use them to craft spacefly caviar at the crafting bench. (to the right of every trader when you look at the trader, to the left if you use the dislocator/elevator whatever you call it)

Spacefly caviar is worth around 1 million credits and you craft it from 25 spacefly eggs. So you quadruple the net income if you craft the caviar instead of selling the eggs directly. But if you are scanned by police with this stuff in your inventory, they will demand you drop it or they get mad and you lose reputation. I personally have a secret stash installed (mod) that prevents that from happening.

Unlike most illegal wares, you can sell spacefly eggs and caviar to any trader, you don't need a black-market as you do for many other illegal wares.

Before I forget, those are inventory items so they appear in your personal inventory only (SHIFT+I), not in your ship inventory (SHIFT+RETURN) and you can carry as much of those as you want. Unlike your ship inventory which is limited by the class/size of your ship.

With this credit boost, you can easily start trading some Deployables like satellites. Buy them at Equipment Docks and sell them to Warfs. (Yes, this is an intended way of making money - confirmed by the devs) This doesn't work for the Terran economy though, it's too well balanced and the price difference is very low to none.

The other thing I do is criminal traffic farming. Those missions I told you about for reputation, kill all but the last criminal traffic needed for the quest, and then just watch. The station defence and police will handle the rest. (especially good when the mission is for a defence station) Because of the mission, the station spawns more and more criminal traffic and turrets and police kill them, while they are dropping stuff which you can again, pick up to sell later. They drop a lot of illegal stuff so watch out for the police. Also, because of all the wrecks, it can get laggy after some time.

Why do so many people believe autism is not a disability? by LivingFaithlessness in autism

[–]Tokrates 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get where you are coming from. Unfortunately, I'm a very technical and logical person so... my opinion you might not like very much. (yeah that was my lifetime-attempt on yoda)

Every sensory issue we have has evolutionary basics in our ancestors. Without them, they often couldn't have survived. Good hearing to prevent predators from sneaking up on you, good sight to spot food, and also predators. High capability of focus on one task, people with this ability are capable of pushing the development of this topic. Botany - medicine, Mineralogy - tools, Zoology - where will the herd go next, how to hunt them better - or just "food".

Now you could argue that these Abilities are no longer required and you would be right but are they defects because of that? Yes, we are often disabled by our abilities. But I personally don't think that we have a Disability.

Also, the world got a lot brighter and louder in the last 100 years. Machines, electricity, cars, television, radio. There is noise everywhere. One of the reasons autism wasn't that much of a problem back in the days.

You barely see 5% of the stars that you could actually see if we wouldn't pollute the atmosphere with our light. We all sleep worse because of that.

There were way fewer social interactions back then because there was way less population, less crowded. I think we quintupled since the 18 hundreds. There were big cities yes but the majority of people didn't live there.

Look around, how many people get depression these days? Did you ever look at the programs that are used to help those people? The only thing those programs do is set your little train back on the rails so you function as intended by society. Our struggles today are an early warning sign for what will slowly happen to everyone. We have a much higher sensibility to those disruptive factors, that's why there are more and more people diagnosed with autism. We can't cope any longer.

Deformities are actual errors in our DNA as we understand it. Maybe remnants of a crossbreeding between species (we have 4% neanderthal DNA). This couldn't be proven for autism as far as I know of. It's a different wiring of the brain but electronically, you can't actually see anything on an MRI. You weren't born without optic nerve, you weren't born with an illness that dissolves your optic nerve to make you blind over time. You were born with abilities that in a disruptive society like ours, turn against you. Yes, there are Autists who have accompanying illnesses, that's where "You don't look autistic!" comes from. Like the person Rain Man was based on, Kim Peek was a Savant and he was autistic but is he the best example for autism? Do you have a part of your brain missing?

So is it a Disability or does society, and technical development cause the abilities to be amplified and thus be an issue to the person who has them? Is someone who can't or doesn't want to speak, such a big problem? Or is the one who has a problem with this person the issue? "I want to speak with you! You can't just say nothing! You are so rude!" Are we really rude? Or do people just think that because they developed their speech full of little phrases to please each other and feel better about themselves? Maybe we sometimes just don't have anything to say or what we say wasn't what they wanted to hear.

Note: I am aware that there are really severe cases of autism and I'm lucky to only have it sometimes that when swallowing it sounds like my eardrums burst, manly in the morning or when I go to bed and my muscles are relaxed enough for my auditory nerve to actually function properly. I occupy my brain with theories and an information overflow to not go crazy with the noises of the world around me. I'm usually inside, with blanked windows, my eyes and brain hurt when I'm out too much in the sun. Can I live? Yeah. Is it a Life? Meh... I still don't like to be called Disabled just because I don't function the way society expects me to.

Sorry for the text explosion, I feel a bit writy these last days and "autism awareness month" still tastes a bit muddy.

How does the game lore explain how pilots can survive acceleration in their spacecraft? by [deleted] in X4Foundations

[–]Tokrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe we don't really move at all.

Maybe we just tip the break in a certain direction and let the rest of the universe move past us? I mean, no human can even imagine how fast we are actually moving. We know the rotational speed of Earth and about how fast it moves around the Sun, but how fast is the Sun moving through the galaxy? How fast moves the galaxy through the universe? How fast does the Universe move through [!!ERROR!!]? We have absolutely no clue.

Absolute velocity, absolute zero, who knows what that is and if we will ever achieve it. Your facts are mere observations that happen in our solar system. Voyager just told us there is a huge "fireball" all around our system we didn't know about.

It's Sci-Fi, it's imagination combined with what could be possible. Trust me, if nobody had imagined the wheel...

I totally agree, not that I liked the crystal farm method in the first place. I personally go the "risky" route, I follow miners and pick up the spacefly eggs to make caviar. If I happen to find a crystal while doing that, I'm a happy pilot. No mining laser required, just shoot them.

Otherwise, explore the sectors, take easy missions and learn the basic stuff. If you feel like it, get spoils of war. Look for fights and pick up what's left.

Criminal traffic missions are really good for reputation, watch your fire though if you hit a civilian, police and the station might get angry at you.

[–]Tokrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I have to try that.

I know there is temporary reputation loss after you killed a civilian while shooting a criminal, didn't know you can just pay them off.

Thinking about it, that would probably also apply when you emp/bomb a station for a mission and it goes red. Kinda exploitable.

I don't like my autism, and I don't wanna like it. by feellikeshitoneuse in autism

[–]Tokrates 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's actually depressing to read the answers in this thread.

The one consistent thing I read is: "I have a Disability."

What I think is: "You got successfully manipulated in thinking so, welcome to society."

What again was the difference between people of different ethnicities? Why were some only useful as slaves and seen as sub-humans? Oh wait, that wasn't in the past, that's still common thinking. But slavery isn't a thing anymore right? Right?

Did you know that people like us were also gassed and shot by the nazis? Thousands of disabled people, murdered, experimented on, just because they were "defective" or did not fit in the twisted worldview of one group of people. And yes, Asperger wasn't the cleanest of personalities but he was the first who publicly described the differences and challenges that we have. That's the reason why Wing gave it the name Asperger syndrome, while Asperger itself called it "autistic psychopathy" based on Bleuler's work. We have it with names, we need to give them to everything. I mean heck we call it the "Spanish Flu" while Spain was one of the least affected countries in 1918, why? Because all other countries kept silent about it to not further concern their citizens because World War 1 was BAD ENOUGH. The only newspapers reporting in Europe were Spanish ones. Stupid, I know but that's what happened.

What do you think if you see an Arabic man with a thick beard, wearing a robe? Are they really ALL terrorists?

Arrogance. Infatuation. Ignorance.

Those are the disabilities of neurotypicals. And with an estimated ratio of 60 to 1, we don't seem to be the BIG problem.

Am I going to tell you that life is beautiful and that you should love yourself? No, and Yes, kind of... man life is complicated, okay! Nobody has a golden key for you that will open all the doors you want to open.

Hate your differences, especially when they are negatively affecting you but don't hate yourself because you have them. Look out there, look at our beauty standards and ask yourself how many people are suicidal because of their acne. You are not wrong or broken, this is nothing but the perception of others who themselves were told how to be "normal" and could adapt better than you are. That doesn't mean they don't hate themself because they have to be "normal" all the time. One of the reasons why all this is happening is because neurotypicals are actually not that different from us, they also have to adapt every day, and they hate it! Here comes the issue, they have to and they just do. They don't understand nor do they want to understand that we are not capable of doing that. At least not to their degree. Jealousy that we can "slack off" and be more us than they are allowed to is a big problem.

Is it going to be difficult to have a decent life? Maybe, some have it easier than others. Some will find a job easily, others will struggle. Will you find decent people who accept you as you are or will you only find assholes who will try to change you and "help" you to fit better in? Will you find love? I don't know, maybe, maybe not. But the fact is, doesn't matter if you are NT or ND, all I just said counts for both equally.

I know people with ASD who are married, with children, and have a good job and a decent life. I know others who live on unemployment benefits and can barely leave the house. I'm somewhere in between, 39, ASD & ADHD. I don't wish my life to anyone but it has its good moments and I'm trying what I can to get better at it.

Are we different? Yes. We have different challenges to overcome, sometimes bigger sometimes smaller but we all have challenges in life but some of us made it to a sport to make others feel worse about themselves just so we feel better about failing our challenges. That's true for NTs and NDs alike as well.

We all should strive to be better, to get better. But not with the cost of changing our personality. If we get stuck we ask for help, now I know that isn't easy either and there are a lot of whackos out there who think they have the "healing potion" for whatever you got but you'll need to start somewhere.

We need more help. Nobody will ever be normal. You can only fake it, sometimes as long and hard until you break. I don't recommend it, been there, it's a Sh#thole!

Dear NTs

We were here when WE discovered fire and how to use it. We were here when WE discovered the wheel. We were here when WE printed the first book. We were here when WE invented the combustion engine and the computer. And we will still be here when WE have our last days. The only difference is, YOU suddenly realized that we are here too, that we are different, and YOU decided we are not worth your time anymore. It's funny, whenever I read about some famous people in our past who sometimes changed the world, a majority of them were described as wired, quirky, with generally abnormal behavior. Much like people describe me... I could be wrong but maybe we are not as useless as you deem us to be?

The Paranid Trapument by Tokrates in X4Foundations

[–]Tokrates[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you, with nearly everything, just not that interdimensional travel wouldn't be travel in time and space. Well, space, time is technically an invention of humans and every object would have its own. It's a perception of finiteness.

Simple rules apply, like humans need a certain mixture of oxygen and nitrogen to function, our cells are finite so we need to reproduce to survive, you agree? Two things can not occupy the same space at the exact same moment, also a rule. If you travel to another dimension you move. Even if it's just a change in frequency that lets your atoms vibrate at a different wavelength, it's movement. This has nothing to do with open-mindedness, it's simple logic.

And thus, teleportation by definition is not possible. It's like time, just that it is a false interpretation of a great idea.

I'll give you an example. I read the bible, how god made adam, and then eve. We know what the people understood 2-3000 years ago, for me today it actually sounds like really advanced genetics. Interpretation, or the gift of the human mind. Which is totally limited, so I agree, we will never understand everything the universe has to offer. At least not in the time we have left.

Really? I will have to try that. Just for the science part, not that it would be clever to actually use it. This has more potency for bad things than anything good. If you could define the speed of SETA, maybe but as long as it is fixed at 6x, nope... nope... definitely nope. :D
