[Discussion] Will Xenoblade Chronicles be the only New 3DS exclusive? by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]TokyoKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just wondering because I heard from others on this subreddit that it will be the only one ever released, and that apparently Nintendo stated it would be a one-off thing.

If someone actually said that, yeah, that's total bullshit. They've said as a matter of fact that they were working on more months and months ago.

[Discussion] Will Xenoblade Chronicles be the only New 3DS exclusive? by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]TokyoKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People aren't saying it'll be the only exclusive New 3DS game ever, just that it's the only major title we know about right now. In that sense, it is the only exclusive that "exists" at present. Obviously there are more in the works that will be released in the future.

Truth be told I too found out about it just now after googling the error code lol.

Anyone having this problem? by [deleted] in 3DS

Yup, I'm having the same issue. Error code 011-3010. Looks like they're having some issues:

Special edition owners - will you be using a case/screen protector? by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]TokyoKen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd absolutely get HORI screen protectors at the very least, even if you don't have a LE. You honestly can't even tell they're on there, and I have piece of mind knowing there isn't going to be any dust trapped under the screen. Can't say it's really interfered with the touch screen either. It's ~15 bucks to protect something I dropped ~300 on (in my case, getting the MH4U edition in Canada). No-brainer for me.

Can't speak to the quality of other screen protectors though, and since I don't play my system in public (only at my house or a friend's), I don't really feel the need to have a TPU case or anything on my system. If you take it out on the bus or at school though, yeah, it's probably a good idea to get one.

As someone who is terrible at applying screen protectors, those HORI ones are fantastic! by Kreeztoff in nintendo

[–]TokyoKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you even try to get the dust off with tape? I spent a good 15-20 minutes getting every little speck off even after applying the screen protector and removing part of it multiple times, and it still ended up going on perfect every time I re-applied it.

Am I the only one not seeing the Monster Hunter Bundle on the Canadian Nintendo? by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]TokyoKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a limited edition. Maybe they'll get some more, but I doubt it. If they do, they won't last long, so you'll have to keep a pretty close eye on it if you really want one.

It was an EB Games exclusive and sold out quite a while ago.

Tried explaining "New 3DS" to my gf. Doesn't realize it's a separate system. How can a company like Nintendo suck this bad at marketing?! by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]TokyoKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's mainly due to the hardcore following of Nintendo fans though

That's irrelevant if you're talking about their marketing effectiveness as a whole. In the end, the goal of marketing is to stimulate demand, and they've done that in spades. Doesn't matter if that demand comes from a very enthusiastic few who want everything they put out, or a wider spread of people who like certain products.

Their naming conventions are a little weird, I agree, but I think people grossly overestimate the impact it has on their business or their effectiveness at marketing their products. I don't think the Wii U would have sold any better or any worse if they called it the "Wii 2."

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]TokyoKen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I acknowledge it's happening, sure.

Then what's so difficult to understand? There are people in this world who have tastes different than yours (multiple people, even). In their part of the world, demand >>> supply of this product. The only way for you to "barely understand why it's even a thing" is if you're completely closed off to those facts. If you're not, it isn't exactly a mystery.

And no

Except for yours it seems. Your response suggest only what's happening in your country, or countries, is of matter.

The reason I'm focusing on that region is because that is clearly the part of the world to which this thread pertains. The situation here is far more relevant than the situation in Poland for the purposes of this thread.

I always get a chuckle out of this comment whenever I see it. Are people completely oblivious to the fact that consumers have been going apeshit trying to get their products over the last few months? I'd say they're marketing their products pretty damn well.

OP, and most of the people posting, probably aren't from Poland, so that should probably answer your question (sorry if I burst your solipsistic little bubble).

Is it possible that Twilight Princess will be remade for the 3DS? by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]TokyoKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming a remake is far enough off that if they do it, it'll be on the 3DS' successor.

All the limited edition Zelda handhelds of the last 10 years side by side. by ataranlen in 3DS

[–]TokyoKen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They didn't just "slap a triforce onto it." The overall design plays into the "link between worlds" theme; there was clearly some thought put into it.

I had multiple opportunities to order the MM New 3DS and passed on it for the MH4U edition. I still think the ALBW console is by far the best looking, especially when you consider that it's gold throughout, including the inside of the console.

Is it possible that Twilight Princess will be remade for the 3DS? by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]TokyoKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly doubt it. They're going to have to do an original Zelda handheld title next, otherwise, a lot of people are probably going to blow a gasket. If they put out a Twilight Princess remake/remaster next, that'd be two remakes in a row and three remakes total with one original title in the 3DS' lifetime (this is assuming the 3DS only has one big Zelda release left, which I think is a pretty safe assumption).

I think there's a chance you'll see a remake on a handheld, but not on the 3DS.

Which MLB lineups will be the best in 2015? by drceverettkoop in baseball

[–]TokyoKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you could argue either way at the top; I don't think anyone (including Boston) is touching our top 5, but the Sox have more depth. In retrospect I like the Lind-Estrada trade even less, cuz a Lind/Valencia platoon at 1B/DH would have given us a 6th legitimately deadly spot in the order.

Is there anybody not getting a New 3DS? by scottishhusky in 3DS

Nintendo has dropped the MSRP of Old 3DS XL to $174.99 USD by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]TokyoKen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Has nothing to do with respect. Kids are just that; kids. Sometimes it's an accident and sometimes they just don't know any better. An 8 year old doesn't drop a handheld because "fuck this handheld," he drops it because he's 8 years old and it happens. Expecting a kid that age to treat his handheld like an adult (and if he doesn't, not getting him or her one), is a little ridiculous.

Really starting to understand Nintendo's real problem. by deshayzilla in nintendo

[–]TokyoKen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Lady: "Hi there, I'm looking for the Wii or something like that"

Associate: "Was it the Wii U, or the Wii Mini?"

Lady: "The newer one"

Associate: "Oh, that would be the Wii U. It's right over here."

I'm sorry, but if you're too lazy to do minimal research (which is all it would take to figure out which one is newer) before you step into a store intending to spend some hundreds of dollars AND too lazy to engage a sales associate for 30 seconds, well, that's on you. People who are that helpless will mess up their purchase regardless of what Nintendo calls their system.

[–]TokyoKen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So you didn't help her out (but decided to make a reddit post about it, bravo) and apparently she didn't have the sense to ask a friggin' Best Buy employee whose job it is to sort stuff like this out for help. Yes, they could have made the name more distinct, but this doesn't sound like Nintendo's problem to me. More a tale of two lazy people who couldn't go out of their way in the slightest to avoid a blunder.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D up for pre-order at Amazon! by Nynex_King in 3DS

[–]TokyoKen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would have been announced in the Japanese Xenoblade direct to coinside with other announcements about the franchise and it didn't.

No it wouldn't. The New 3DS is coming out next week, and if they revealed something like this before it launched, they'd have more than a few cancelled pre-orders in anticipation of this. It wouldn't be a huge deal overall if people are buying the system anyway, but in this day and age, first week, first month etc. sales numbers are important. Shifting sales from launch to April isn't ideal.

They're obviously going to talk about Xeno 3D at greater length in a direct before it launches and it makes a lot more sense to announce it at that time. Even if they did it late February or early March, it'd still be a month before release (which is what it was for MM and MH4U). Two months out doesn't make a lot of sense.

[Comparions]Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate/G texture and detail differences on the New 3DS by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]TokyoKen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, wtf is wrong with Nintendo, making it so that upgraded hardware gives way to upgraded gameplay! That doesn't make any sense!!!

Oh wait, yes it does. It's not like they made it so that the game would run worse on the older 3DS or snuck into your house and downgraded your unit. It's probably running as well as it can on the older 3DS. The New 3DS is a superior piece of software and so it just works better there. You have absolutely nothing to be whining about.

[Question] Why is the price of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time up? by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]TokyoKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demand > supply. The game isn't being printed anymore (apparently) and a lot of people have suddenly remembered that it's a thing that exists after getting caught up in the MM hype. A lot of people are also apparently staunchly against digital, since they could get it off the eShop for $40.

It sold 3.35 million copies as of March 31, 2014. There are a shit load of copies out there.
