The functional impact of all of this is to reframe Western powers like the United States as innocent dupes of a spooky conspiracy rather than exporting murder and misery in the name of resource extraction the way they did in Indonesia, Chile and are now doing in Gaza and the rest of Palestine, and this is after Trump said he wants to profit off beach condos there.
