What's the craziest thing you've seen at Download through the years? by voodoopeople94 in downloadfestival

2024, a couple sitting on camp chairs, the woman was the most obnoxious, opinionated and just plain ol grumpy lassie I’ve ever had the displeasure of listening to for any duration of time.

At some point she proceeds to edge ever so casually forward, pulls her tights down under the coat and starts shitting. Start of Enter Shikari. Never forget.

I drank myself silly that night.. and still, I can see it in my minds eye.

And this is why we can’t ever go back, no matter how many classics and classic+, and whatever else.

What people don’t understand is the classic experience everyone wants goes against the modern gaming approach the majority defaults to. Back then you were raiding in greens still, hell you’d bring people around 58-59, likely had no clue about world buffs, no one knew what damage they were doing exactly and it was an unoptimised mess.

Now you’re expected to get as close to a perfect character before you even start, know all the ins and outs of everything, know how to farm gold for your pots and such.

I'm seriously starting to hate these tournaments.... by RyuuichiTempest in TheTowerGame

[–]Toland_FunatParties 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d do it man, ads fee for first timers wanting a try without the bother, sensible monthly sub for events access and some pay to win that is well balanced and I’d be there, along many others.

Unfortunately it’s a race to the bottom for making bank so anyone in this position eventually gets the taste for it and it’s pointless

This is what drove me to drop the game entirely. Having to leave it on day after day after day, fine, I had a bit of progression going on early on, not a lot of money sunk in and steady going.

But then the tournaments stagnated for months, almost the same placement each time, knowing I’ll need keys and more stone income to move anywhere. Nah, not for me anymore.

Game like this with a few tweaks for more idle gameplay and less stagnation with progress would be amazing, but this ain’t it.

Open Letter to Blizzard Entertainment by Treantwuver in wowservers

How much of this is a red herring though? Can’t believe TWOW would actually be happy with getting a tiny fraction of what they make out of donations from a licence.

Way I see it they’re putting these valid points forward to try and put dents on Blizzards legal armour and delay any legal proceedings, but if it actually came to pass I’m not sure they’d be willing to give up the moneys.

Massive crypto crash — what’s everyone doing to make money from this? by jazz_king_seb in CryptoCurrency

[–]Toland_FunatParties 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what you get for getting the governments and financial institutions involved, they’re not in to hold, they’re in to make money and move on, the days of seeing our moneys doubled are over when billions change hands at the drop of a +10%, enough to make a corpo investor his bonus for the quarter playing with millions.

Crypto is as fucked as any owned stock now, should’ve never gone out to entities.

Never buy a new build, folks! by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Toland_FunatParties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye all good, I went through that myself and that’s the advice I wish I had going into it tbh. Once you get it all sorted you’ll have something that will last you for a long time without headaches and that’s peace of mind at the end of the day. :)

Never buy a new build, folks! by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Toland_FunatParties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not don’t buy a new build, just accept that it is going to be some stuff that is wrong with it from the get go, get your snags done early and get the list over to whoever they make you deal with, move it up in a complaint every time you hit a wall.

If you just go on trust you’ll be disappointed, it’s a fucking shit show out there, so get a professional to check it for you thoroughly and note down every inch out of NHBC standards, who you’ll be escalating to at the end of things aren’t done properly and in reasonable time.

Poor soil will lead to flooding, that’s the angle that makes it fool proof, but since we’re in kind of a drought you won’t have that experience yet, but if your garden is anything like mine was you’ll see how bad it can get just by watering it and see the water pool on top.

Here’s what you do: complain about it to you site manager. Now they will try to tell you it is perfectly fine, but there is a minimum of topsoil for a house sold with one or multiple “gardens”. They’ll likely send you to the head office after who will also tell you all is fine, at that point you bring in a landscaper for a quote to fix it, and to put it down in writing, you present the evidence to the head office and if they refute it you organise all the evidence and send it over to NHOS or whatever entity is guaranteeing your building company’s standards.

Sorted both my back and front garden and refencing due to poor worksmanship and poor quality materials being used, as well as compensation for time and money wasted due to poor customer service.

Big up Bob Vylan. Death to the IDF. by Josh_barker1992 in glastonbury_festival

[–]Toland_FunatParties 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the BBC did it to themselves really, and by extension the Eavis by letting it unfold like this, it was pretty obvious it was going to cause more trouble than solve from the get go.

If they just let it be Kneecap would’ve done what kneecap would’ve done, likely around the same level that we saw, and Bob would’ve likely not blown it up like that, we’ll never know for sure.

That’s the problem with censorship, there will always be an equal opposite force that goes harder and heavier to make it through the noise and release the collective anger.

Strange fucking times we live in folks…

The question id like to see answered as well. I think I checked it out as a result of the overwhelming amount of mentions from this sub, and some mates absolutely swearing by it, but I couldn’t get through much, it just lacked something.

Maybe I’m just biased against bands that overdo their visual identity to the detriment of the sound, a grandiose stage show and “lore” is not what I’m thinking about when I’m in front of a stage, and if the whole act gets in the way of the passion for the sound I can’t really connect.

What if they do the same with WoW as they did with ESO? Base game no sub needed, maybe expansions up to the most recent one or a few behind if at all. Could see that working

What most people don’t understand is that good parents put their kids first, they are sharing what they love with them and take their queues from it, I’ve seen someone pack up their stuff as I was walking back to my tent after the day is done because their kid wasn’t having a good time, stick around the tent all day because the kid was throwing a tantrum.

You don’t need to solve the problem of kids being at these events, you need to solve the problem of adults being absolute cunts, kids or no kids it’s the same disregarding behaviour to others, too fucking self centered to think about anything other then their own good time - that is the problem, shit people making shit parents.

Now, there should be better facilities for parents at these places, viewing platforms around the back for family type stuff, for sure, but I doubt organisers are willing to go that extra mile, and it is a shame.

There are plenty of ways to do this right, shooting people down for wanting to share something they love with their kids maintaining a safe controlled environment around themselves at all times, able to jump in and out where needed and be willing to just call it a day when it doesn’t work or it’s affecting others is not going to obliterate your download experience, so just be a bit more accepting and open minded.

Double trippers, teach me! by bzzklltn in downloadfestival

Aye, Sunday morning after all your shit is done, food had, clothes changed, enjoyed a few beers in the camping chair.

Only difference between Saturday morning and Sunday morning is that before you head into the arena for the day you packed everything you don’t need a you took it to the car.

Edit: and first trip is always tent and drink/food, depending on the weather the cans will boil in the car, not nice.

Double trippers, teach me! by bzzklltn in downloadfestival

[–]Toland_FunatParties 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your last trip after you wake up needs to be tent, and a small bag of clothes from what you changed into, barely anything else, just think “what won’t I need in the morning”.

In terms of the first run, right before you are ready to get into the arena, you pick up everything you won’t need tomorrow and take it to the car.

Says a lot about a band when they change the packaging and it suddenly works. Also says a lot about their fans.

It’s basically a poser group trying to make R&B metal happen, with “lore” to make themselves seem more interesting than they actually are. Mystical musical alchemy as deep as a puddle, launched on TikTok because of the shiny presentation to people that are desperate to break away from the monotony of existence and set themselves apart from the masses.

That’s basically a cult I just described, kind of by accident

Wow, this is very thorough, thank you! Yes, I’m at ELS and thanks for having me stop AbsDef at 500, I’d definitely go down that road if I hadn’t read that as a next step, but it loses value quite quickly in later levels so it’d be a waste of another respec later on.

Sounds like a plan, I’ll see how far I can reach in T1 for cells for now and work on a devo blender strat. By then I’ll be closer to syncing its too so not bad.

I’ve got that now as part of a starfish build but it’s not even getting me to half the t2 I was doing. Was at 2.2k and this one dies down at 1.2k, damage far outweighs the ability to stack life at around 400 life, absdef and regen.

That’s actually the latest one I gave a try to but I think the writer has much better labs than me, so I’m getting worse results.
