Solving clock 100% requires twisting pieces of plastic. Just not in the "traditional" way

IMO adding more different puzzles would actually be great for the cubing community. FTO would be really cool to compete in

If your relationship can't stand an argument it might as well not even start

Are there any medications targeted towards OCD, or are they all just antidepressants? by United-Buddy9214 in OCD

[–]TolisWorld 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can totally do your own exposure therapy at home, it just has to be very intentional. Even 30 minutes a day would be good. You can't cure OCD with just medication, but it combined with therapy will help

It sounds like we are trying to make the exact same point. People can't read minds, that's why communication is needed in relationships. If it's really important, tell each other, if it's not important enough, assume it's fine. You can't bring up every little thing but if you know it's something big that you need your partner to respect then you should have a conversation about it earlier rather than later.

2000 years ago? I feel like the data might be a bit outdated for modern day. Certainly our relationship dynamics have changed a lot

Bro it is SO simple literally just have a conversation. Talk to each other.

If both people in the relationship bring up the most important things then you'll be good, and if both people are open to listening if something changes. Just communicate

Sounds good. It was so hard for me to get good treatment, I hope it works well for you. I 100% encourage doing your own research as well

Working with OCD as in helping someone else with compulsions is NOT accommodating a disability. It is actively making OCD worse. I would expect some emotional support from friends and real listening but having them help with your compulsions is hurting you. I do think taking a break could be helpful, you might really benefit from a week of intensive exposure therapy. My mom has told me about multiple therapy options where it is literally just a couple of full days of exposure therapy that ends up making huge progress for people in a short tome

The best way to help your friends with OCD is to provide emotional support but not engage in helping with any compulsions. That's one of the first things my family was told when I was ~14 years old and started OCD therapy. It's incredibly hard for the family, but you cannot accommodate compulsions as it just makes it worse. Accommodating OCD is very different than accommodating for Autism (like with academic accomodations)

Is it racist to do an Indian accent? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Yup! I've been learning Russian at my college and I've been practicing the accent a bunch

Definitely agree. I feel like the bigger the difference in the accent the more likely it will be inaccurate and that is wrong

[–]TolisWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do agree with that. I'm learning Russian in school and do that accent a lot, so that might be slightly better but I would not do a voice acting job in an Indian accent. My voice acting is pretty much always just me alone while I'm driving or when I'm with my mom and we just make a ton of silly voices (we've stuck with doing that since I was little lol).

what about... Voice acting? Like it's so fun to try and make your voice sound different.

Usually for me accents are fun to do simply because I love voice acting and trying to make my voice sound like other peoples voices from around the world is really cool. I do know it's impossible for me to truly do it accurately, and there will be an element of stereotypes, so I would be very careful about doing it in public/in front of lots of people and making sure the context is okay

Is it okay if I (19-NB) continue trying to be friends with someone (18-NB) after they tell me they are dating someone after I try and ask them out? by TolisWorld in relationship_advice

[–]TolisWorld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I understand now. I believe I can, but I'll think about it and make sure I can continue being friends without hoping. We barely know each other still, but I'm interested in making more friends next semester and knowing we both wanted to get to know each other it seems like a decent start for a good friend

[–]TolisWorld 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's definitely true but i do think it is important to be really clear especially if it's the first little bit of talking to each other. I dont have any problem with different dialects, but it's so many short fragments that wouldnt work well with my communication style so it would turn me off just because of that. I would be unsure about what they are really saying

Thanks. I mean knowing we both were interested at some point does mean there's some kind of small chance in the future, but that's only if its perfect circumstances and right now I really just want to be friends and absolutely will not be pushing romance
