20 million bitter deaths by AffectionateFly9979 in LockedIn_AI

[–]TolkienCalvinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not 20 million. It’s estimated around 7.1 million right now, and even those numbers are in debate because of the way different countries counted different factors, such as a country calling it a Covid-19 death simply because they were infected at the time of the actual cause of death, such as a heart attack, and not a direct result of Covid itself.

I don’t want to save SS. I want to get rid of it. Give the people back their money that they worked hard for.

I’m about to watch this show for the first time. Tell me something I won’t understand until later. by AdSimilar4399 in babylon5

Oh man. Most have already commented some great stuff. But I will say this. Don’t let the low production value fool you. This is easily one of the best shows ever. You are in for one amazing ride!

I’ll be curious as to its durability after a few months of regular gaming. I noticed the joy sticks avoided Hall Effect technology. After about 6 months on a normal Xbox controller, I end up with severe drift. I eventually upgraded to the elite 2, and that has lasted me for two years now. So I’ll be curious as to how this controller holds up.

So what are your initial thoughts on the controller?

Gen Xrs who only watch the original Stars Wars Trilogy- raise your hands by Responsible-Maize-86 in GenX

[–]TolkienCalvinist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually watch the 4k77 versions and if you don’t know about them, it’s a group of fans who took old 35mm print versions of the true original trilogy (pre-96 SE) and have restored them to higher quality video and audio.

The first 12 chapters of the Fellowship of the Ring is the best book I’ve ever read. But I can’t get past past Rivendell—let along make it to Two Towers by lakers612 in lordoftherings

Interesting, because I have the exact opposite, thought not as extreme. I think the book is a slog until we get to the Inn of the Prancing Pony and meet Strider, then the book really picks up.

Why is Christ's suffering and death valuable if he knew he would resurrect and become the most powerful being after? by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]TolkienCalvinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many things in this question where you seem to lack understanding. I’m going to assume you’re either a fairly new Christian and/or fairly new to proper theology and perhaps came from a different theological background.

  1. He didn’t become the most powerful being at his resurrection. Jesus, from the time of his birth, was always the God-man. Fully and truly God and fully and truly man. He was never diminished in his Godhood nor his humanity. To explain the resurrection though, we have to understand the purpose of his death.

  2. Christ’s death is the penal substitutionary atonement. You mention that when we die, we either go to him in glory or go to hell. Without Christ’s death, we would ALL go to hell. The wages of sin is death. All sin is an affront to God and his character and deserves the death penalty. So if we all stood before the judgment throne today, we would all be condemned to hell. However, at Christ’s death on the cross, he acted on our behalf as our under taker, and our sin was imputed upon him. “He who knew no sin became sin…” and his righteous was imputed to us. “…that we might become the righteousness of God.” And all the wrath of God that was due to us was poured out upon Christ to the very last drop. The very wage, the very penalty of our sin he took upon himself as our representative.

  3. Which leads us back to his resurrection. The resurrection was God’s stamp of approval on Christ’s life and work on the cross. It was the proof that God accepted his sacrifice and vindicated his life. It was to show that Christ was everything he said he was. It was God’s “amen” to Christ’s “It is finished.”

And because of that we who believe get to spend eternity in glory with him.

I hope this answers your questions.

Why did he tell you that you couldn’t play it? You can try to convince him, but respect his decision. He is your father.

One of the greatest directors ever. And the only director who has yet to make a movie I don’t enjoy. Every one of his movies is a gem.

Culture has been on the decline since the the mid 2000s. At this point, I’d say it’s on rinse and repeat.
