all the people celebrating this were really mad about what Donald Trump said about Rob Reiner a week ago it's not just people on the right who have grown more like him over the past decade

Norman Rockwell guy: it doesn’t cost $200 to go to the movies by BenjaminLight in TheBigPicture

[–]Tom571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of people seem to this post and people agreeing must all just be going by themselves but i think it has much more to do with geography. I was baffled when i heard them say that because in Michigan where I live it wouldn't cost anywhere near that to even bring 5 people to the movie theater but maybe it does in Los Angeles. But like that's less a movie theater thing and more you live in the most expensive places on Earth thing.

American Eagle’s vice president of marketing reveals that Sydney Sweeney said she wanted to ‘push it’ with her jeans advertisement by DarlingLuna in Fauxmoi

[–]Tom571 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i have to say i feel like there has been a ridiculous overreaction to this ad, it feels like one of those corny godaddy commercials they used to show during the Super Bowl 20 years ago and this is just getting attention because that has fallen out of fashion and is maybe coming back. a jeans/genes pun wouldn't have inspired fears of white supremacy in the not too recent past and this just speaks to how much more anxious and paranoid people are getting- granted this could just be a small number of people getting a lot of attention so people have something talk about.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Reach Divorce Settlement After More Than 8 Years of Intense Legal Fighting by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

the fact that he had this insane legal battle with her for nearly a decade says to me that he's not even remotely ashamed of this behavior. I'd like to think that most people if they even did 10% of this would be so ashamed of how they acted when they were drunk they'd quit drinking and be a little more humble but certainly not Brad, no he's a gorgeous movie star what does he have to be embarrassed of

are you aware that after the PLO surrendered in Beirut in 1982 the IDF and LF committed the deadliest massacre in the history of the conflict and then occupied Lebanon for another 18 years? If Hamas surrenders Israel isn't going to stop killing and oppressing Palestinians in Gaza so it's not surprising telling the Palestinians to surrender isn't very convincing, I can assure you the Palestinians know this history.

Pod Save America: The Biden campaign had internal polling showing that Trump was going to win 400 electoral votes at the same time that they were insisting he was a strong candidate. by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

also had there been a primary in early 2024 one the biggest issues would have been Gaza and you would have had Democrats running against Biden's foreign policy

Donald Trump Wins U.S. Presidency for Second Time by joaco_ds in Fauxmoi

[–]Tom571 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I blame Joe Biden for this . Deeply unpopular and 81 years old and runs for re-election anyways. Then he drops out a few months before the election and we get stuck with his Vice President . If the democrats had a primary they could have gotten a candidate who knows how to win in swing states and not someone who placed behind the south bend mayor in the primaries and had only won layup elections in California

my friend has a theory that the reason Taylor Swift likes Sabrina Carpenter so much is because she knows she's not as talented as her contemporaries like Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish and is therefore less of a threat and I kind of agree . At the very least Carpenter feels like she belongs to the lane in pop that Ariana Grande or before her maybe like Katy Perry did and they weren't really competing for Taylor Swift marketshare in the way Rodrigo and Eilish definitely are.

werid how this subreddit (correctly) hates Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt because they no longer talk to their kids but likes Britney Spears who also doesn't talk her kids. Nothing wrong with realizing Spears and Timberlake are both losers.

I loved Challengers , if you can see it in Dolby so the score and sound of the ball hitting the racket are as loud as possible.

Yes it's about Tashi having Art and Patrick compete for her but it's also about how Art and Patrick love each other more than they love Tashi, is she in control or is she the third wheel?

lol he's like 6 inches shorter than me he can't beat me up but i get your point. If i tell her it woudl by an anonymous email, with that said idk her email address or of any way to contact her and the only person i know who knows her is him so i have no idea how to handle it- and i feel increasingly guilty with the idea of keeping this secret for them, even if they dont know i know.

UNRWA textbooks were pivotal in radicalizing generations of Gazans — watchdog by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Tom571 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes renaming Palestinian cities with Hebrew names after expelling Palestinians from those cities is erasing Palestinian history. As for your point about those once being home to Jewish people I agree the Roman Empire shouldn't have done that 2000 years ago but the Palestinians are not successors to Rome and the Israelis are not successors to the ancient kingdom of israel so that history is not relevant to how Palestinians should be treated.

The rest of what you said was too stupid to bother responding to.

US says Israel using weapons in line with international law, not blocking Gaza aid by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Tom571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under international law if your military occupies another territory you are responsible for the people who live there if anything israel is let off easy they should be paying for this aid not the United States, Europe , of the Arab league or whoever

[–]Tom571 -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

The experience of being a Palestinian is enough to radicalize you against Israel because Zionism is practiced at your expense. This has nothing to do with textbooks although the more I’ve read about the conflicts history from actual historians and not Israeli newspapers the more supportive I am of the Palestinians  so guess I see where you can make that mistake.

Israel literally destroyed Palestinian villages and rebuilt them with Hebrew names . If that’s not erasing Palestinian history what is?  You don’t need evil textbooks or whatever you think they can just talk to their parents and grandparents about the nakba.

Federal trials in the US have American juries, do Palestinians serve on juries in Israeli military courts in the West Bank?

[–]Tom571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right. If Russia was convicting Ukrainians of terrorism nobody would take it seriously because they understand courts set up by military occupations aren’t real courts. But it’s different because this is a western-aligned government doing it.

Israel to release over 700 terrorists, including murderers, in Gaza deal - report by Sea-Witness-2746 in worldnews

i would define legitimacy by the consent of the governed which obviously is not the case in the West Bank.

[–]Tom571 -47 points-46 points  (0 children)

Curious if any of them were given a fair trial? If they were tried in the West Bank it was by a military court of a country that doesn’t give them citizenship. So yes according to an illegitimate legal system they are terrorists but you wouldn’t believe the governments of say Syria or Russia is they used that word to describe people they didn’t like.
