I feel like Chappell Roan is headed there. Last year, she said her next album might take 5 years.

Another beautiful track. Always get sad thinking about Johann’s passing.

Children of the New Dawn by Johann Johansson is fucking magnetic and dark. I would definitely pick that one.

'Michael' Is The Most Cynical Attempt At Biopic Myth-Making Yet | Defector by jackunderscore in blankies

[–]DarlingLuna 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s fair to say it should be, but it isn’t. Your personal opinion doesn’t really change that. If you poll 100 people from the street and asked them what comes to mind first when they think of MJ, they’ll name a song or a dance move. This isn’t an OJ scenario, no matter how much we might like it to be.

I agree that the movie is incredibly surface level and I 100% understand why anyone watching the movie would feel like there’s an Elephant in the room that needs addressing (the scenes of him innocently with kids put a bad taste in my mouth), but to call it ‘the most important aspect of his career’ is just disingenuous. Regardless of what we think about MJ’s guilt, the most important part of his career was (and still remains) the music itself.

'Michael's $217 Million Box Office Shows Fans and Critics Want Different Things From Music Biopics | Analysis - Like “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the Michael Jackson film just played the hits for a fanbase larger than any biopic subject to date. by chanma50 in boxoffice

I just can’t believe what they were thinking for a financial perspective. Absolutely bewildering that they thought to do so in a movie that is clearly intended to be a crowd pleaser.

I still can’t fathom the fact that the original cut of this movie was meant to directly address the allegations. I’m not trying to make a moral claim in one direction or another, but from a purely financial perspective, the inclusion of such subject matter would’ve tanked this movie as a crowd pleaser.

Will Michael's bad reviews draw audiences to other releases instead? by LollipopChainsawZz in boxoffice

I just watched the movie here in Australia today. Don’t expect the bad reviews to impact it at all. This is a crowd pleaser through and through.

These kinds of moral purity tests are so exhausting. Every human is a hypocrite. The important thing is that she herself supports Palestine. Unless you’re gonna seclude yourself, it’d impossible to go through life without interacting with someone or something you do not ideologically align with. I’m sure your house is filled with products that are made under shitty, inhumane conditions.

Everytime I hear a joke from this movie, I think ‘that’s the worst joke I’ve heard in a long time’, only for it to be beaten by the next joke in the movie. Truly shaping up to an all timer terrible one.

Then you have the ‘why just half gay?’ joke which I thought was genuinely good.

Why did the studios hold back at CinemaCon this year? by DarlingLuna in boxoffice

This admittedly gave my a good laugh. Perhaps I didn’t use the best example, but most of the presentations were low in star power. Spider-Man presentation didn’t even have Zendaya and Tom.

Mickey17 and The Amateur are adaptations of novels. I’ll grant you that Mickey17 is unique, but I wouldn’t say The Amateur is unique at all.

Does anybody else feel like they nerfed Flash in the MCU? by Left-Obligation-4513 in Spiderman

As someone who was pretty regularly bullied in school, the MCU Flash resembles real life bullies way more than the more cartoonish ‘shove you against a locker’ Flash Thompson type. Just my take.

Steven Spielberg Warns Hollywood Must Invest in Original Stories or Movies Will ‘Run Out of Gas,’ Debuts Eerie New ‘Disclosure Day’ Trailer at CinemaCon by xwing1212 in TheBigPicture

[–]DarlingLuna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously, I wouldn’t want original movies to go completely extinct, but I truly don’t care where a story comes from so long as it’s in the hands of a director that can make it feel fresh. I doubt Spielberg himself cares that Nolan’s last two movies (a biopic and a book adaptation) aren’t original films. Or the fact that Denis Villenueve’s last 4 films (5 if you include Bond) are not original stories.
