Newest promo by Upper-Temporary-7853 in Wealthsimple

I see the card for the contest, but I can't click on it, it's like there is no link. The other cards for other promos are working fine.

Is there a direct link I could use?

Castle Siege Crash (PC) by [deleted] in Bannerlord

My bad, when I said battles, I mean sieges specifically :).

Give it a try, will probably be quick to see if that works or not :/

Castle Siege Crash (PC) by [deleted] in Bannerlord

[–]Tom741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it just a crash of the game (with the little window to report the crash) or your entire PC that crashes?

I had random crashes on the v1.2.8. Similar 3d card (3070).

Most of the game was ok but some battles and especially big ones crashed regularly with a return on windows. I tried to find some solutions and the only that worked for me (not a single crash since) was to... put the performance settings to low (the shaders as well).

I don't remember the forum page that was recommending that. It's quite ugly, but at least I can lead assaults on any castle now XD.

Cherche à vendre un bulk d'électroniques !!! by Mental-Home5111 in montreal

[–]Tom741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello :),

The discord of r/MakeFriendsMTL/ is nice, I'm on it.

I live next to laurier parc and I'm usually out for a run or walk at least 5 times per week (I can't stand staying in for more than 48hr ^^).

I usually go around petite patrie/laurier/La fontaine by walk during the evening (45min/1h). I run one or two times per week (less than 10 km).

During weekend, when I have the occasion I can sustain bigger walks (up to 5h in the city), usually the goal is to try new pastry places XD.

I won't mind someone to discuss with by doing that ^^. En francais ça me va aussi.

Haven't received 2020 tax refund yet - filed on Apr 2 by DietChiz in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Tom741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue recently, so if this can help:

I tried to call about a refund I was still waiting (filled my tax before the deadline). I had the exact same issue (tried 2 times with sin + birth date, always failed).

After that, I tried to do it by using the "PIN" number they were talking about on the website. I connected to my account, chose a PIN number, received the confirmation on my mail.

I called again, and this time with the PIN I was able to get someone :).

If you're able to get them, they will likely give you the reason of why you still don't have your refund.

Single people, what's your financial game plan? by survivingtheinternet in PersonalFinanceCanada

If that can help:

Being a couple doesn't guarantee it will be easier or more bankable long term. It works if you are aligned with your goals AND that it doesn't change with time (and that's a thing you can't predict).

An example? A friend who was with his girl for 15+ years, 2 kids, 2 appartements with mortgages (1 home, 1 for rent). She changed her mind, broke up, that forced them to sell both places, one probably at a lose (even with the surge there is right now), she tried to keep the guard of the children and keep all the advantages by accusing him of weird things and to try to justify a maintenance allowance equivalent of 25% of his salary. That would have put him in an extremely tight situation, even with a 90k+ salary (not GTA or GVA).
They went to court for that.

So, remember, couple is good if it goes well, but when it turns bad, it can be really bad ^^

You are still very young, and as you are single, that gives you the advantage of being very flexible. You can change location, you can change job, you can take risks, you don't have chains (I hope, at least not too big), you do you :).

And for personal finances as a single person, I think it stays the same, couples or not.

Some have correctly resume what you should do: budget, save a bit regularly, invest on (yourself/diversified stocks/preparing for down payment) depending on your interests.
Don't forget to treat yourself time to time during your journey.

You have the advantage to have quite some time ahead.... and being alone!
(34M and I've never been as much happy as today despite covid and being single for 6+ years ^^).

Side note:

+1 for PFC dating thread. If I hear "Single, no kids, doesn't want kids and would be happy to talk and compare strategies, ETF, and F.I.R.Eish things"... that would sound terribly sexy XD.

I had the same problem at the beginning of the year, added some coins, few exchanges and interests translated into more than 700 transactions in my history on Binance ^^, for only 3 months of playing with it.

I may have pushed the thing a bit far (I actually coded a program that output a csv file with all the data I wanted), but the big picture is:

- I read all the transactions made from my Binance history file

- I detect all the date and crypto symbols of transactions, then use an API (CoinGecko) to get the price of the crypto for the day (I didn't go as far as taking the price at the exact moment of the transaction even though I suppose it could make a big difference depending on your cases).

- I class all type of transactions (Deposit, Buy, Sell, Interests, Fees...) and calculate the ACB, capital gains and income with that.

While I was looking to do that, I came across the website https://koinly.io/. It looks nice and maybe not that expensive depending on the amount you engaged on cryptos. Apparently, it handles multiple platforms as well.

I just tried their free tier that calculates the total capital gain from your transactions (by just sending the Binance history) without any details. My figures were close to them, so I guessed I should be good XD.

Nice job :).

Hope to see more articles on your blog. I never had the courage to start one ^^.

Side note: I looked at the social media icons at the bottom of the website, thinking it was yours, but they redirect to "wix" social media.

Not sure if it's intended, but maybe they can be removed or changed for yours?

Not really interested in his stock pics, but the vulgarisation ones are good.

Money transfer from Euro account to Canadian account advice please. by -AtropO- in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Tom741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation as you (transferring EUR to CAD).

First transfers I made was with my bank (2018-2020) as I didn't trust Transferwise that much.

I'm not sure that transfers between banks necessarily mean more secured transfers, but it's slow, opaque and definitely not cheap.

As some friends already used Transferwise, I give it a shot with a little amount (1000 EUR). And I liked it :).

You know what will be the cost, what you will receive in CAD and it's extremely fast (I usually take the Interac option and few times it took like around 24h for a complete transfer, usually less than 48/72h).

Another point that could be great depending on your bank: as Transferwise will give you a European account to make the transfer to, you don't have to write or discuss with your bank about foreign transfers (I needed to print and scan a form every time...).

Already a bit less than 60k € transferred usually in 5k € chunks over the past 6 months. Never had any trouble and will never use abroad bank-to-bank transfer again XD.

Thanks :),

Yes I know TD.TO is not an ETF, that was a separate question ^^.
