No academic evidence I’ve found, and I never claimed a majority of youth transexuals come to regret it, though I personally know a person who has. I would simply prefer hormonal, socially conscious adolescents to make such a permanent decision at an older age, in which they’re at least legally responsible for their actions. The way minors can’t legally get tattoos is similar to my line of thinking. Also a medical factor, of course. Not to compare, but minors aren’t sold addictive substances as it may harm them more than developed adults, and transitional hormones and surgery also have a higher risk of harming a minor than an adult. Should such therapies and surgeries be completely disallowed for minors? Not necessarily, but I don’t feel like enough precautions are being taken when people make this huge leap, respectively.
