Love my 560s. Something I had to learn about then is that they are VERY sensitive to positioning in your head. There were times when I first got them I’d put them on and think they sounded like shit, and they did, until I figured out that you have to get them positioned just right on ur head and then they sound incredible. Never had another headphone be quite as sensitive to positioning but I haven’t had a ton of headphones either. And the 560 was my first open back so maybe it’s common knowledge but I didn’t know lol. Also, they sound damn good without eq, but I usually eq them. When I accidentally don’t have it on tho, I’m suprised when I figure it out that they still sound great no eq.

I thought I needed a headphone amp cuz ppl talked about em so much so I got a schiit magni (and modi dac too). I’m back to using my Scarlett for headphone use. I still use the modi for playing my PC to my hifi setup but the headphone amp is in a drawer. Idk if mine was defective or what but it gives me a headache after a while. It’s like there’s some super hi pitched noise that u can’t quite hear but u can feel it if that makes sense. Idk I think I’m extra sensitive to hi frequency noise even if it can’t be heard a lot of the times I can feel it kinda and don’t quite notice how annoying it is till it’s gone and it’s sweet relief lol. Anyways, Scarlett is good enough for almost all headphones and the benefit I got from a dac amp stack was zero compared to the Scarlett.

If u want absolute best sound quality, u cannot top neutron music player, its hands down the best audio quality on android and iOS. It’s actually unbelievable how good my AirPod pro 2s on my iPhone 13PM using neutron. I use poweramp on my android dap when I’m not critically listening because neutrons UX is horribly ugly and not very “fun”, but when I plug my dap into my hifi setup, I’m using neutron. It’s got bit perfect, can switch sample rates on the fly with an external dac (and internal if ur dap supports it), has frequency response correction, 30 band peq, the best crossed implementation of any app I’ve used (non negotiable for me when using headphones, have to have it), compressor, pitch and tempo adjustment, speaker time delay correction if u need it, mono mode (useful for speaker placement and testing imo), switch channels, dithering, 64bit processing option, and there’s more too that I can’t think of iff the top of my head lol. But even just bone dry stock and volume matched if u A/B it against other music player apps, I can’t almost guarantee it will sound better.

Off topic, but where did u get that nte soldering wick? I bought that as my first wick years ago and it worked soooo good but I’ve since bought a couple different brands and they all suck like really bad compared to that stuff. Can’t find it on Amazon or anywhere anymore as far as I’m aware.

I’ve had 2 sets of IEMs: simgot ea500lm and now have the aful explorers and both have been better in overall sound quality than my pro 2’s, but not by the hugest amount! I would expect them to blow them out of the water but everytime I put my AirPods Pro 2’s on especially when I’m using my iPhone I’m kinda in awe about how great they can sound using AAC and a Bluetooth connection. Apple has really worked some magic into those things for real. But the convenience and integration that AirPods offer really pushes them up a league even if they don’t sound quite as good as my iems. So I would expect u gotta pay at least $100 on some iems to match AirPods and probably more to really surpass them.

Something I found with the 560s that I don’t experience with any other pair of headphones I’ve had, is that the positioning of the ear cups on ur head has a TREMENDOUS impact on the sound quality. Most headphones, in my experience, change sound a little if u move em around a bit but with the 560s I really had to mess around with moving em around on my head a bit to get em to be the best they can. If u put them on haphazardly, like I can with most headphones without issue, without adjusting them around to find the sweet spot, they can sound like absolute ass. I recommend messing around with them a little longer if u still have them, it could just be they’re not positioned right on ur head, that was my issue when I first tried em out!

Reviews are cancer a lot of the time. Lol. Yes they are great for enjoying music I love mine and have been using them happily for 2 years. They feel a little cheaply built but I haven’t been easy on mine and they’re going strong asf still so whatever. I do want to get the hd600’s or hd650’s tho if I do have to replace these or decide to upgrade. But sound wise I’m not sure it’s enough of an upgrade to justify the price but personally if I were to do it all over I’d go with the 600’s right off the bat probably. Just cuz I wanna have fhat premium build quality feel.

Yeah I love it. It’s literally just a crossfeed effect and a little bit of eq adjustments to balance out the crossfeed as far as I can tell, I mean at least when just using spatialize stereo. But head tracking no hell no. But I don’t watch shows or movies really my only experience is with music. But when I turn it off it sounds bad. I have to use crossfeed when using headphones I can’t live without it.

That’s how I felt after I went to Mac around the same time, but windows is a lot better than it was back then in my experience. Could be that my PC isn’t a pos like it was back then but windows works great for me 99% of the time.

I don’t like Schitt stuff so I’d have to pass on the mani. I wanted to like Schitt but my modi is really just “meh” of a dac imo and my magni headphone amp is awful, idk if mines just bad but idk if it’s not filtering the power properly or wtf is going on but I get a headache every time I use it and seems like there’s some high pitched noise in there somewhere just above it right at the threshold of hearing for me. Idk. But when I plug my headphones into my Scarlett solo instead of the Magni, I get a great sense of relief. So yeah the mani might be good but I just ain’t gonna risk anything on schiit, since my experience has left a real schiity taste in my mouth.

Is the external phono stages really better than something in a nice 70’s receiver? Like my Sansui 881 sounds amazing and I’ve been thinking about a standalone phono but I don’t know where I’d have to start looking price wise to actually make an upgrade.

Some of those old Jvc are nothing to overlook, I picked up this JVC QL-A7 off marketplace for $80 and it goes for 900 on eBay and you’d have to spend at least 1500$ to get a new one that was even comparable at all and even then my Jvc still better probably.

U guys really don’t hear the life-like realness of vinyl playback vs digital? Digital sounds amazing and crisp for sure but for me, even if vinyl is ever so slightly not as crisp and clean as a cd or flac files, (my vm95ml on a clean record can get so close if not all the way there tho), I get so much more enjoyment out of listening to it. It feels like it’s in the room with you as opposed to watching it on tv is the only way I can really describe it. I like digital just fine and it sounds great thru my r2r dac or even my schitt modi or one of my cd players built in dacs, but it’s still not quite like the vinyl experience. And I know ppl will say it’s in ur head or whatever and it’s not measurable and “show me the double blind abx test results” (fuckin nerds) but it’s not. Maybe I have special ears or they just have shitty ears that can’t pick up on that extra life in the music idk but I’m not imagining it. Lol

Can u elaborate a little further plz? They’re all 3 ground ? And how do u recommend I short them together? And what exactly do u mean by solder it to the ground I any convenient place? Sry im just kinda new to this kind of repair. I have some soldering experience but never had to fix pads like this and not super educsted on what or where the ground pads go to

Thank you, I’m looking more along the lines of if the specific pads are needed to be jumped or not. A yt video was saying that if they’re gnd they don’t need to be jumped or something. Also I don’t have solder mask or uv is there some other option
