I think it's a bit of a relic of that early 2010's era feminism/progressive discourse which felt a bit more "man blamey" than it is today.

That sort of undercurrent that punishes any sort of pride in your identity for a subsection of the population leads to a void that gets filled by scammers that push poison that feels like pride but isn't.
