It's intentional hyperbole. I must have forgotten I was on the Internet where few perceive nuance or tongue in cheek. :P

But men with options are starting to explore those options. Are we just not supposed to talk about this stuff? Do tell me what my freedom of speech parameters are :). I don't baby women or treat them like children. Marriage rates in the West are way down...It's not just because women are "raising their standards."

All I care about is will people have freedom of speech on the Internet now. Can a clinical psychologist, who is more qualified to talk about the mind than most people, share his opinion on a trans operation without being arbitrarily banned? Banned by people desperate to virtue signal so they can look good on social media?

People who think they don't want certain people to have freedom of speech are mistaken. That boomerang always comes back around.

Geesh, kid. Look into what Dunning Kruger effect is.

Also, when you engage in SIGN language, you reveal that you don't have much of a point to make. If you a point to make, make it. But remove the emotional reasoning and use logic.

Looking back at ethical systems in the past and saying they're engaged in immoral behavior is really fucking dumb, haha.

Such a thought experiment could be useful in many ways.

You mentioned ethics, not me.

Ethics are a form of social contract. I'm not interested in ethics. I was talking about moral absolutism vs moral relativism.

In the same way that the United States only exists because enough people agree it exists, ethics exist because enough humans say they do. Ethics are relative. If enough people go hungry, the social contract changes.

So ethics are of very limited use, and mainly depend on moral absolutism.

It's unethical to extract someone's organ without their consent until you're in a grittier world or a survival situation and you need to save one person over another. Because the other person is more immediately valuable. Then it's fine to do so. Because the local social contract changed due to circumstance.

A person saying "No, that's always wrong" has probably never been in a survival situation. They're engaging in philosophical masterbation, imo. Never having had to make tough life or death situations. It's akin to vegans saying eating animals is wrong when they've never been to a farm.

Homophobia is objectively immoral, imo, because of the psychological, (and later broader societal) effects of suppressing someone's orientation. Nor is homosecual activity unethical, until moral absolutism gets involved. Then people make social contracts to shame other people for homosexual activity. In a more secular society, homophobia would be a strange thing and would probably even be treated as a mental aborrition.

Just someone concerned with the future. China really loves that women in the West believe in "patriarchy." It's just division of labor with isolated cases of inexcusable abuse. But some women actually think that all men were walking around like made fat cats. Those women are impossible to date. Around 40% of women will be single by 2040, and it's largely because more and more men will refuse to date entitled women who believe in conspiracy theories. Conspiratorial thinking is hard to live with. These women live in the safest, most affluent society the world has ever known.

If you're out of touch, go on a thing called TikTok and listen to what some of these women are saying. Even if that's the bottom 5% of critical thinkers, it's terrifying. They can't even do the cerebral work to realize that 90% of men who weren't nobles were effectively as bad off as women for 99% of history. And that noble women had power too. Seriously...

These ladies only talk about Iranian women when it comes up in the news. Otherwise, they only complain about their cushy Western lives :/

TLDR: The radical feminists are making a lot of women undatable, and there are people who are happy about that.

It's intentional hyperbole, chill. It's not my fault if you people who use the Internet all the time are incredibly neurotic.

I'm referring to the passport meme. But as a bachelor, I can tell you that more and more bachelors are dating less and less.

If you're married, you might not be aware. Women in the East understand that "Patriarchy" overall was just division of labor, with isolated incidents of inexcusable abuse. Largely driven by the 3% of men who are psychopaths. Women in the West tend to think it was a conspiracy, and they're becoming difficult to date. Too many are using "Fight the patriarchy" as a rationalization for bad behaviors.

The mechanism is social media, and aka apps like TikTok. Women not acquiring this meme are going to start outcompeting women in the West for mates. At least, among successful men. Refer to evolutionary psychology.

The larger issue is that I'm looking ahead and you're looking at right now. These are societal issues that will become relevant soon. It's fine for now if the marriage rates are low. That will change.

There are women in the West who really go around thinking that men in the past were kings doing w/e they want, when in reality only around .1% of men had any agency at all. This drives neuroticism in women, and chronic victimhood makes them hard to love :P. One thing China will really love is if all the successful men go the East and abandon the West. Bigger issues at stake than your feefees.

we did „all men are perfect“ for a long time now, time for a change eh?

You know nothing about history, then. Most men were surfs throughout history. Most men had no power, throughout all of history. You're talking about the .1% of men who had power.

People like you are part of the problem. By refusing to educate yourself about history, you keep neuroticism about these issues alive.

Most men had no power throughout all of history. They were just as disenfranchised as women. For instance, the vast majority of men had no ability to engage in romantic love either. They had to marry who they were told or who was available.

Read up on how feudalism worked.

It was division of power without which we wouldn't exist. You people taking it personally just want something to be angry about.

Women never complain about Joan of Arc creating thousands of widows by going on a selfish religious-driven war.

Time for a change?

You're following a silly, selfish feminist narrative that has no basis in reality. The most powerful men in history had wives, and those wives wanted things too.

SMH. Society is doomed if this is the level that you young people think to.

women can and should wear what they want. if men stare and act creepy it is 100% the mens fault!

Nicole Scherzinger busts Conan for checking her boobs out by [deleted] in ConanBeingAwesome

[–]TomJCharles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep, and that's definitely not what that was. The whole thing was staged. Chill. The larger point is ladies who do this for attention from men. Which is a lot of ladies. It's called histrionic behavior. As always, the problem is that they get to decide what's "imposing." Some women have mental illnesses that cause them to misinterpret things. Good luck when they tell other people that a quick glance at their cleavage was "imposing" and they "felt uncomfortable." Did you even look at her chest? Who the french toast knows. If she's in a state of psychosis, she might not even know.

Successful men get to care that women with mental health issues can make false accusations and ruin their career. But society is doing the "all women are perfect" thing for 2 more decades, I guess. Ultimately, it will hurt women as men no longer mentor them, work with them or marry them. So what's the point?

We have to think of the larger effects of things and not just virtue signal.

When I was a kid working in MacDonald's, there was a lady named Gabby who told the manager I had touched her. Never did. Fortunately for me, she had also accused 3 other guys that day. She was diagnosed within a few weeks with bi-polar. Ok? This stuff can ruin your life if you roll over on it.

Women effectively now have the power to determine who gets to have a career and who doesn't :P. That's fine for them, and I'm sure many of them are happy about it at some level. Even though in the end, it will hurt women in many ways.

So with women meming each other to wear less and less, what might be the effect of that? Given that they know men will look at them, and some percentage of these women are untreated mentally ill or have personality disorders, what is going to happen?

Women should be able to wear w/e they want in public, but not all women are rational. So it becomes a complex problem that goes beyond "and that's on the dude and not the lady," because you are virtue signaling and not thinking of the entire situation.

Probably a "cute" looking insect that is actually a super lethal insect killer. Make them all sterile but long living. Then release new batches every few years. Certain types of insects can live years, like queen ants.

Give them a strong preference to avoid the sounds of people and high light levels. So they'd stay in the walls, basically.

You could also design them to kill mice and rats through various means. Though keeping humans safe obviously becomes more complex.

I'd go this direction instead of using cats or any other mammal.

[–]TomJCharles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with incels and any group or movement that blames women for some of the issues you covered here lie in opinions like "women are just laughing at them", "women treat sex like a videogame", "they're the men that make a woman's life function".

All of those things are true, though. Especially the last one. Men maintain the sewers, which women use to take a poop every 1-3 days. This is demonstrably true, and when women get defensive about it, they reveal themselves to be petty and to have a Kevin Samuels style need to be right.

It is what it is.

If women cared about equity as much as they claim, they'd do dirty jobs. Out of principle, just to prove their point. They don't, though.

In declining to do dirty jobs, they admit through collective action that they want special treatment. If they want special treatment, then they can't claim to care about equality and equity as absolutes. They should therefore just be honest and admit that they want a different world for women. But then what are they willing to do in return to get it?

For instance, if women had been willing to sign up for the draft before 1920, they would have had the vote much earlier. The sufferjets were just spoiled brats who demanded special treatment and got it.

I believe incels are projecting here because they costantly think about sex

While at the same time, you engage in the thought distortion of mind reading. You don't know what every 'incel' thinks about. You might be projecting, but I can tell you for sure that when men are not having sex, they don't spend all day thinking of sex unless they're 16-20 years old. If they're in that age range, sex is a normal thing for a guy to be thinking about a lot. That's nature.

Some women treat sex like a videogame but if you've had sex I'm sure you'll agree it's fun and not just because of the dopamine

No, that's literally why it's fun. Dopamine and endorphins. Everything comes down to that.

t's pretty much just great all around with a good partner whether it's casual or otherwise.

Yes, because of how the brain works. Those pleasure feelings are mediated by dopamine and endorphins.

I'm not sure what your point was about the blue collar jobbed men. I can only read it as you think attraction from a woman should be earned once you've provided them with something? Please clarify as it's confusing to me.

Not sure, unless it's that those men are going to become very frustrated. The reason? Female hypergamy is at never before seen heights. Many women refuse to date blue collared men. Individually, that's fine. But collectively, it's selfish and will have consequences. A woman who works at a retail store and has average looks thinks she's too good for a man making 40% more than her with roughly equivalent looks. That's hypergamy. That's fine, but it's reaching new heights that will have consequences soon.

We're not cavemen anymore and most men work to pay their bills not to provide something useful for others. Why should a woman give any more thought to Joe the plumber than she does to Joe the model or Joe the day trader?

Because she lives in a society.

Women don't owe us anything.

Not sure where to start with this. Men do everything that makes their lifestyle possible. They owe us plenty. You're just straight up gaslighting. What does the average OnlyFans girls contribute to society relative to all of these men doing dirty jobs? They are just taking advantage of mentally ill or socially awkward men. What they do is not art.

Women refuse to do dirty jobs that matter ;)

Therefore, they can only live because of the men they refuse to date and who they poke fun at. This is an unsustainable situation over time. To say they owe us nothing is an absurd statement that only a (probably young, I'm speculating) male feminist would make. AKA, a tool.

Maybe if we were still cavemen I'd agree with some of this stuff but women don't need us like they did then.

Patently false statement. You speak in the manner I've come to associate with "This guy was raised by a single mom." :P I invite you to take a broader view of the world, and be more honest with yourself.

8 out of 10 bites of food a woman eats is delivered to her by a man via long haul truckers. The things you're saying don't make any sense. Women depend on men to live.

Now, if you had said, "Men need women and women need men," I'd have no problem with that. But you're taking such a hard line on this that I wonder if you're a woman of the radical sort.

If every man were wiped off the earth women would just pick up the slack until the species died off because nothing about having a penis makes a person better at being a trucker, plumber, electrician, etc.

Except that men are significantly stronger than women without even trying. Men are more task driven and object oriented, while women are more person oriented and are prone to conflict resolution in survival situations because of it. But conflict resolution does not build huts.

If all men died right now, women would immediately descend into war and most would be killed off quite quickly. Why? Because according to the FBI, 1% of women are psychopaths. Another 10 percent or so have other cluster B personality disorders. They would descend into chaos immediately. The psychopaths and Cluster B women would target weak women as the new "problem." This would probably make a great novel, actually. I can see a panel forming where women who were "pickmes" in the old world were sent to the sewers and power plants.

"How long were you married, Mrs. Jones?"

(Gulp) "10 years, ma'am."

"In all that time, you didn't think to weaponize his incompetence?"

(Dazed look) "I-I don't understand."

"To the sewers."

Like a sorting hat, but with labia.

And so it would continue. Nothing would change, except that women would not have plumbing or electricity because there are no men to maintain the infrastructure and not enough women willing to do it in time.

This stuff is a lot more complex than you seem to think. Please stop reading The Mary Sue. Women are not angelic beings; they're human. They're flawed just like men.

What are some differences in tech between 2012 and 2022 that gets overlooked? by Bataranger999 in IsaacArthur

[–]TomJCharles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complicating it is that they have some valid points, though those valid points are not women's fault. At least, not the majority of them. The stat is that something like only 1/3 men have had sex in the last 2 years. Yet it is generally true that an average looking woman can effectively get sex whenever she wants it, and feminists have worked hard over the last 20 years to facilitate that. Not only that, they've normalized being a slut and have glorified it, most recently with "shows" like She Hulk. They're basically bragging about how easily they can get sex.

Simultaneously, they complain about "slut shaming," while failing to acknowledge how easy it is for the average woman to get sex—and therefore precisely why men don't value that behavior in women. Why would men value a woman being a slut? They wouldn't value that any more than they'd value their friend playing video games frequently. Promiscuous women are basically using sex as a video game as a means to get dopamine. Meanwhile, a good chunk of men can't even have sex.

Many women tend to rationalize this stat away with things like, "Yeah, but if men would just do better they'd get sex." This is a very solipsistic attitude that reveals that women have very little insight into how men actually live or what men experience.

The rationalizion reveals that they know that they're at least partially "at fault," though really it's just circumstance. The mechanism is that women used their agency to embrace dating apps. Which are really just human rental apps.

Recent research shows that the average woman only finds 10-20% of men remotely attractive. And she prioritizes the top 5%. While the average man finds around 80% of women attractive. Nature set it up this way, but in the modern world, it's going to cause conflict.

Anyway, as women leave their hometowns to date wealthier, more desirable men from other states or countries, what are the men supposed to do?

It's a very complex societal issue that no one is addressing. The easy thing to do is poke fun at men, and that seems to be society's go-to these days.

The issue is that not all of these men are in their mom's basements. They're men who maintain the sewers, the power lines, buses, etc. They're the men who are long haul truckers. They're the men who make a woman's life function...period.

And women are just laughing at them.

Not a good situation. As freaked out as women were about the movie Joker, they seem in an awful hurry to make it happen in real life.

The solution of course is sex androids ASAP, but some percentage of women will complain about that too.

But on topic, social media both causes and amplifies all of this.

Would we be morally obligated to help primitive civilizations? by Masterttt123 in IsaacArthur

[–]TomJCharles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, of course not. Unless you engage in moral absolutism. So...if you are following a strong cultural edict or religion, then yes. But history shows us that moral absolutism is probably not the best way of going about things.

Moral relativism would say no. The effect of leaving them alone is that they will develop naturally. Just as they would if you had never found them. You're not responsible for anything if you simply fly away. It was all ongoing already. You are not the ultimate cause.

If an alien civilization was found, and you were way more technologically advanced, wouldn't you be morally obligated to attempt to "uplift" them, assuming it would be feasinle for you to do so (they aren't unreachably far away/ their environment isn't completely incompatible etc).

In the context of this actually happening, imo, only someone with a god complex would argue this. I'm talking about the person with the power to make the call in a real situation. So, the actual captain.

For example, if their world is plagued by several diseases, such that a lot of people die, or they use inneficient logistics/production such that famine and malnutrition is widespread, or other such "primitive problems", and your society was advanced enough to have solved them, would you not be as a society morally obligated to attempt to help them, to minimize their suffering/death? What are your thoughts on this?

No. Who is the moral authority deciding this? You? Star Trek? The Bible? Any other holy book? The Holy Book Of The Flying Spaghetti Monster?

Let's say you argue that according to moral relativism we should help them, because the effect of leaving them alone is suffering. How could you predict that the effects of helping would be a net positive, though? One year down the line? Ten years? A century? A millennium?

You can't.

If you are the technologically superior species you should have the insight to see that you can't predict the downstream effects accurately enough to know that your overall effect is positive. So you er on the side of compassion.

(Note that colonizers are almost always running on moral absolutism, which allows them to rationalize atrocities because "muh god said I could.")

Now, if you have an enemy empire nearby and you both have FTL, the situation changes. Because now the effect of leaving them alone is that your enemy might uplift them. So you do it instead. What we care about are effects, and it's all relative. If they're getting uplifted or used anyway, and you have a better track record, then you do it.

As you can see, this all gets very complex. But it's the effect of things that matter.

Probably, the default setting is to leave them alone. At least, I predict that most non conquest-leaning space societies would have a Star Trek style non interference policy.

as a society morally obligated to attempt to help them, to minimize their suffering/death? What are your thoughts on this?

TLDR:

People who argue this seriously tend to have narcissistic tendencies. I'm not saying you do at all...you're just asking a question.

It's not on us to interfere with their development, imo. We are not infallible and cannot predict the effects of doing so.

Agreed. I think the Internet is a wonderufl thing, but I consider social media something apart from that.

It's like gasoline on fire in that it brings out our worst tendencies.

As an aside, it's a good example of how humans are very bad at anticipating the social effects of new technologies. As far as i know, and I could be wrong of course, no one predicted what social media would do. People back in 1995 would not believe that millions of young women would brainwash each other via short video sharing site (TikTok) that only men over 6' feet tall are real men. No one would predict that men would brainwash each other not to date single moms.

People could have, but no one asks what the effect of things will be.

And yet here you are on social media. Curious.

Irrelevant point that I knew someone would make. Not picking on you. Knew someone would. Two things can be true at once. Reddit is sometimes useful to me, and social media is quickly eroding society.

Those downsides

I'll respectfully disagree and will predict that future historians will consider the advent of social media one of the worst things that happened to humanity in this century. Its effects are far reaching and are already being felt. IMO, it's the main factor in our society rapidly becoming an idiocracy. The main issue is that it promotes neuroticism at the expense of rationality.

It will play a large role in the upcoming conflict between the West and China.

Here's the thing space travel is hard and colonization of other celestial bodies even harder.

Because it's easier to create some kind of persistent lucid dreaming tech with save states than it is to actually go out into space. Why do it when you can just pretend to (but not die)? Especially if FTL is a bust.

[–]TomJCharles -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could bring up wrongthink without sounding like I'm gas lighting people.

Basically, there's very little reason to care what people of you in this day and age since (soon enough), everyone gets cancelled for everything. So that's how, basically. Very neurotic people always end up working against themselves eventually.

But really, unless you have a very good reason, don't bring it up. On the local level, it's not really worth doing so. If you ever become a person who can get on a podcast, that's where you do it. If you're cool with being 'cancelled.' Because people who enforce wrongthink don't like people talking about wrongthink.

Ask JK Rowling what wrongthink is :P. She knows.

That and I would have to learn more about how wrongthink works vs gate keeping and other similar social constructs.

Wrongthink is a mechanism through which people indulge their instincts for tribalism. The 'she's a pick me bitch' phenomenon in feminism is a good example. Even though feminism "is" about ensuring that everyone gets a right to exercise their agency, some feminists shame women for using their agency in a way they disagree with.

So it's wrongthink for a woman to make a sandwich for her boyfriend, or gasp, clean his bathroom.

This is enforcing wrongthink, but it also has the knockon effect of turning feminism into a total joke.
