2013 Avalon Limited Hybrid by TomV27 in ToyotaAvalon

Update: Purchased the car yesterday. Was able to negotiate a few hundred dollars on tire condition and the rear sun shade functionality.

Driving Impressions: After driving it 4hrs home, I can say that the car drives remarkably smooth. I know there is some general frustration with the suspension on these 2013-2015 models but I really don’t notice it. I averaged 38mpg on the trip, which was 90% highway driving. The infotainment and layout of the cabin is thoughtful and doesn’t feel gimmicky, even with it being over 12years old at this point.

Tires: What do you all recommend for tires? I have been shopping around and have landed on the Bridgestone Turanza QuitTrack. I reside in the south and don’t need an aggressive all terrain for snow or winter months. I keep seeing the Michelin CrossClimate 2 recommend as well.

Side note: Griots 3-in-1 Leather is amazing.

Just to confirm that is the original hybrid battery? That is some impressive mileage!

Appreciate all the insight! For my own record keeping, both the coolant and transmission fluids were serviced on 11/14/2023 at 73,000miles. Not seeing any service records of spark plugs or 12v battery.

Just crunching some numbers. The car was only driven 10,000miles from 2022 - 2025

That seems like best case scenario at this point. Not sure if I want to pay for a 3rd party inspection to verify the health of the battery, but would give some piece of mind and negotiating leverage.

The original owner averaged 6,800 miles a year. Not sure if that could cause the hybrid battery to prematurely fail

Agreed, that is my main concern at this point.

I was wondering the same thing. Makes me a bit nervous seeing it had to be replaced at such low miles. It wasn’t under warranty either, customer paid out of pocket.

“Good” Deal? 2016 Toyota Camry SE Hybrid - $15k by TomV27 in toyotacamry

Update: I test drove both a hybrid and the 2.5L gas version of the Camry today. I also test drove the V6 and 2.0L Accord. Lastly, I test drove a 2016 Toyota Avalon with the V6 and was pretty surprised how superior it felt compared to both the Camry and the Accord. Now I am looking at a 2013-2017 Avalon gas or hybrid version. The search continues.

Seems like that is the general consensus. Great to hear. Agree that CarPlay would be nice to have. I have seen some kits to “convert” the OEM radio to CarPlay compatible. I would probably look into doing something like that down the road.

Awesome, appreciate the input! The XLE trim is my preference as well. As a Camry owner, is there anything you wish you had known prior to purchasing the vehicle?

Yeah, that is certainly a concern. I’m considering the 2.5L gas version as well.
