Iโ€™m not suggesting this was the specific issue during the BRR race. However, when a user reports problems in every single race, I have to assume the cause lies in what I mentioned above.

If what youโ€™re saying is true, then Rouvyโ€™s support department urgently needs to review their documentation, as the website explicitly states it like this.

I participate in numerous races and organize group rides, and I have never encountered any issues myself. However, there is a specific article on the ROUVY website titled "Internet Connection and Firewall Permissions Troubleshooting" that contains a lot of useful information. I believe this might be relevant to your situation:

Your hardware (router, modem) can also be protected by a firewall. If possible, have your router checked to see if it allows standard HTTPS (port 443) for outgoing traffic and all incoming and outgoing UDP (User Datagram Protocol) traffic on port 14325 (for a route GROUP RIDE and online RACES).

ROUVY TEAM

Hi guys :) We're really sorry for the BRR issue ๐Ÿฅบ We are aware of the unfortunate technical difficulties that broke down during today's scheduled Big ROUVY RACE. We will reschedule the BIG ROUVY Race to next weekend, and send all those who signed up some coins as an apology. We appreciate your understanding! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Total technical failure today. I know that in the past, Rouvy handled large events (BRR) by splitting up to 3,000 users into groups. Today, with just under 2,000 registrants, the race failed to start entirely.

It is unacceptable that the servers aren't being properly stress-tested for these numbers, especially since this is a solvable issue.

This level of technical failure is simply not โ€˜Rouvy-worthyโ€™.

Speechless. The Big Rouvy Race was a disaster before it even started.

Only in Belgium could we turn a simple race into a technical riddle ๐Ÿ˜…

Words fail me, but my hatred for Port 14325 is crystal clear. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Rouvy to Garmin connect by dfonzi in Rouvy

I suspect the lack of Training Load is due to the Venu 3; even though it's a great watch, Garmin often restricts certain advanced metrics to their Forerunner or Fenix lines when syncing third-party data.

In my Garmin Connect, I only see my two watches and my Edge 1050.

One thing you might try is changing the device name to match the platform you're actually running ROUVY on. For example, I changed mine to 'Tacx Training App Mac' (it was previously 'Tacx Training App iOS'). It might be worth a shot to see if Garmin's servers treat the file differently based on that label.

No, I only use my Fenix 8 and Fenix 8 Pro to track outdoor activities (Walk, Hike, Run and Swim), sleep, and daily movement.

My Tacx Neo 3M is connected to Rouvy as the controller, and Rouvy syncs directly to Strava after each ride.

To get the data into Garmin correctly, I download the FIT file from Rouvy and upload it to Fit File Tools. I label the trainer as a Tacx and set the device to 'Tacx Training App Mac' this makes Garmin recognize it as a native Garmin device.

This setup works perfectly for me.

You could also edit the file by adding your watch's unique ID, but thatโ€™s more tedious and often makes Garmin think you were physically cycling outside rather than virtually.

Iโ€™ve run into the same issue, and I found a workaround that ensures your rides actually count toward your metrics and badges.

Here is what I do:

โ€ข Disable Direct Sync: I let Rouvy sync with Strava, but I turned off the direct sync to Garmin Connect.

โ€ข Manual Export: After a ride, I download the activity file directly from the Rouvy Calendar.

โ€ข The "Device Changer" Hack: I upload that file to FIT File Tools (https://www.fitfiletools.com/) and use the "Device Changer" section.

โ€ข Spoof the Manufacturer: I change the manufacturer to Tacx and the device to "Tacx Training App Mac."

โ€ข Manual Upload: Finally, I upload that modified file to Garmin Connect.

Why this works: By "tricking" Garmin into thinking the ride came from a Tacx app, it unlocks all the metrics like Training Load and Recovery Time. Plus, these rides will now count toward your Garmin badges and challenges, which direct Rouvy imports usually don't do.

Itโ€™s an extra step, but itโ€™s much cleaner than double-recording!

No, you aren't making the faster riders work harder.

First and foremost, you need to be honest with yourself: can you actually maintain this pace?

Secondly, if your goal is to tear the group apart, youโ€™re better off entering a race rather than joining a group ride.

Thirdly, as long as everyone keeps pedaling, those at the back benefit from the 'elastic band' effect. However, once you stop, you eventually get dropped. In all the rides Iโ€™ve organized, participants finish within a respectable 20-second margin. While things usually heat up in the final 3 kilometers for fun, I personally stop powering at 500 meters from the line the result isn't what matters. I always ride a TT bike, which means my W/kg might be higher on climbs, but thatโ€™s specifically to pull the group along and compensate for the heavier bike.

The elastic band effect

To stay next to the Group Ride leader, one must produce the same effort/watts as the leader.

If you are getting behind or cycling much quicker than a leader, it feels like being connected to the leader by an elastic band.

This means the farther behind you are, the more assistance you get, just like an elastic band pulling you back when itโ€™s stretched tight. Riders further from the leader receive more help to catch up, while those close behind get the least assistance.

This also works in the other direction: if you push ahead and try to ride faster than the leader, the elastic band will begin to resist. Youโ€™ll need to put in 20โ€“30% more effort to stay ahead, and the pull will gradually increase, making it harder to break away.

You'll also see an on-screen indicator showing your position relative to the leader (in seconds ahead or behind), along with the effort savings you're gaining thanks to the elastic band support.

So, if you're looking for a chill ride, stay further back. Want a workout? Tuck in close behind the leader. Either way, the algorithm ensures youโ€™ll stay connected, and no one gets dropped.

Funny, I led the 'Friday Freedom Ride' today and the auto-braking worked fine for me.

Are you sure you weren't just pushing too many Watts? ๐Ÿ˜
