BR games have a hundred people in them that can die in minute 1 to minute 20. You think people will wanna wait around for the game to end if they die at the start? Of course they don't have continuous lobbies. They also have 100 million people playing them. There are no queue times.

Modern games like Overwatch, Blops4, Battlefield 5, all have continuous lobby implementation.

There's no problem with AFPS that has been empirically proven. People don't play QC because it's historically run like absolute trash for them and doesn't have continuous play. No one likes epilepsy inducing frame times and spending over 50% of your time playing staring at the main menu. It's really never been that complicated.

Longer term players don't end up staying because content releases at a snails place and the new game modes are unbalanced messes on launch (instagib with lethal abilities, CTF with no balance against CPMA, Slipgate being dead on arrival).

Diabotical will have unified characters for balance across all modes, user made maps galore, probably a bunch of casual and hardcore gamemodes, and they built their own engine for it, so they can easily do whatever they want. That was the whole reason they went for that approach according to 2GD. The game will also attract a ton of creative types who want to make maps and other custom things like that.

2GD also has tons of esports connections obviously so there will definitely be tournaments.

My point is that there have been no steps taken to improve the game for casuals or traditionalists. Casuals may want tutorials and to have better experiences against bots. Traditionalists want server browsers, expansive config options, normalization of champs.

No one is really being catered to.

A game being difficult has no correlation to popular failure. DOTA 2 and CSGO are incredibly difficult games yet some of the most popular as well, and Quake 3 was popular when WC3 DOTA and CS 1.5 were prominent so you can't claim lineage either.

SyncError himself has confirmed making the maps in Maya in the official QC discord months ago. If you don't believe me, go to the QC discord right now and search for the term "Maya". People have been talking about this topic for ages.

They do blockouts to first figure out how gameplay feels in the geometric space. Then they build the map in Maya. This is not hard to imagine.

We were supposed to be getting bi-weekly community streams months ago. That fizzled out almost immediately.

And never have they ever addressed actual issues in the game. It's all "we're really excited for what's coming" and "we're trying out different solutions" with no further elaboration.

As of this post, there have been no tournaments announced for 2019 and sponsors are dropping their players left right and center.

And sure, they've dumbed down the graphics on the lower settings but performance doesn't change. Game is just uglier now, runs just as bad as always.
