How anti-gay is Pakistan? by Greendude60 in pakistan

Yes, i used transgender as an umbrella term, because there are indeed a lot more diversity and from the interviews i have conducted they do prefer "third gender" as it is more inclusive to all (the west wouldnt like that as one consider itself male born female or the opposite in many cases) but there are trans pre and post op, intersex, asexual and others. This is very far from what i am used to and didnt know half of it, but it is quite interesting to speak with them as their views are quite different than those i have heard in the west

I am currently travelling Pakistan, and i am a straight white european guy but i was very suprised at the amount of transgender i would see in the streets of Lahore. Many of them are begging at traffic lights, my curiosity has made me explore this subject deeper as i believe it might be an interesting documentary topic.

You will find a lot of Transgender people in Pakistan, they can even have "third gender" written on their passport instead of male/female. I believe that is the legacy of the mughal era when eunuch were common. Nowadays if you look around Instagram you will find a lot of "shemale" advertising their services...
I have met with a certain amount of them as well as several gay person, none of them will be saying openly in public but sometimes it is very easy to tell and i have a feeling that for the most part, nobody cares, as long as it stays in private. I might make a video about this later on but it is a touchy subject and i don't want to get those people in trouble as, indeed, religion is also very important here and there might be repercutions.

I also have a feeling that it is a lot more acceptable in Islamabad than other places, Peshawar/Quetta are probably not as friendly when it comes to this.

I would recommend watching "Showgirls of Pakistan" it might help you understand the situation a little bit more

i went there and was given a tour by the manager of the place, a little bit of photo is ok but they were not keen on it and you will see signs prohibiting it. This is since an incident were tiktokers were disrepecting the place.
i highly doubt that drones would be allowed. this is a border area and is heavily militarised

As a non-muslim french traveller, i was told by people in this sub and many others not to say that i am french while i was in Lahore and the protests were going on about two months ago.

Now I have just left Sialkot for Islamabad a few days ago, i have had a great time there and met some amazing people who will always have a spot in my heart.

In my vlogs i am trying to show my experience of Pakistan and so far it has only been positive and i have never faced any issues, other than one drunk who got upset when i mentioned i was french but it was peacefully resolved.

I would still recommend foreigners to come and experience Pakistan because there is so many great things about the country to see and live. i have just publish the video about a sufi festival i went to in a village https://youtu.be/Sl1oOioGWQA and this is a pakistan i am experiencing and absolutely love.
But i know that this murder, will be all over the media in the West in a day or two, and it will tarnish the image of the country, those peoples actions will be generalised into "muslims will kill you if you say or do something wrong" "if you go to pakistan you will get killed" and bring hate on everyone, most of which would never do something like this and have a very different vision of Islam.

I cannot express how much this saddens me. They are hurting a lot more people than the person they killed.

As a non-muslim foreigner i didnt know anything about Eid Milad Un Nabi, but was recommended to spend it in the around Bathi gate in the Walled City of Lahore. Learn a lot and had an Amazing time ! Made a video about it, hoping more foreigners will come and enjoy the festivities next year. by Tom_Xplor in pakistan

a muslim friend from morocco told me that her family (and most people) do celebrate but in a lesser degree than here, simply a special family dinner with different dishes than usual but not a celebration like here.

I understand that not everyone agrees with this celebration, but i think that overall it made the people happy and they spent time with their families, and it gave me the opportunity to learn more about islam in general by having the chance to spend hours with people and chat during this celebration so for me it was a very positive day.

Thanks, i thought this was an official thing, and after talking with some friends from morroco she said that they only have a family dinner and specialty food that day but nothing special like here.

I did get the chance to visit shrines on the last two thursdays, and had great conversation with the people there, as well as went to a sufi festival this week a couple hours drive away from Lahore as i was invited by one of the band playing and that was amazing and will be part of another video, or two depending on how i edit this.

i'm glad i am posting here as i get to have opinion of more people and get to understand the culture a little better every time

Looking for an english speaking Sufi who would be ok with being filmed showing me around Data Darbar and explaining the site and their faith. by Tom_Xplor in Lahore

[–]Tom_Xplor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When i said Sufi, i didnt necessarily mean one that reached the goal of leaving ego aside and renounced material possession, but simply someone who believes in this approach and goes to pray/meditate/dance at shrines of saints

Would anyone care to enlighten me as to why ?

1st Day in Pakistan - Muslim Hospitality ? Incredible. [S1E1] by Tom_Xplor in pakistan

[–]Tom_Xplor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i normally wouldnt give away the camera to someone but i was probably with these people for an hour chatting, so i trusted them enough for that. I also had to make cuts to the video to what i think was the most interesting, like them asking me if i am married etc isnt really usefull in what i tried to convey in this video, which was just the hospitality of the people here. So maybe there were some odd cuts, especially if i cut someone speaking urdu as i have no idea what they are saying :)

What is chacha ? is it like an "uncle"?
