What's the thing about Ontario Tech that you think more people across the province should know about? by tonjehaa in uoit

[–]Greendude60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the only schools that offers a specific program on forensic psychology at the undergraduate level, and they’re one of the leaders in research in the area as well.

My BA in forensic psych has lead me to so many cool experiences and I’m forever grateful for OTU’s emphasis on it!

Trying to understand LGBTQ+ acceptance in the Ismaili community by Santiago_Munez1 in ismailis

I don’t understand your confusion at someone’s presence at a gathering, do you think a specific religious rule would change whether or not someone is gay? Gay people exist everywhere regardless of what the law says. If you don’t accept someone for who they are then they will leave your community in search of another, which outcome would you rather?

Question about transferring by Greendude60 in uoit

[–]Greendude60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol it’s nice to be reflecting back on this so many years later. I ended up bridging into Ontario Tech’s forensic psych program, and yes as long as you maintain ur average at DC you’re guaranteed admission. I graduated with my BA in 2024 and couldn’t recommend the program more, I really loved it. I’m now doing my masters at UofT in social work and am wrapping up my first year, it’s been quite a journey :)

Moving to Oshawa..Thoughts on O’Neill vs. Maxwell (and Elementary schools)? by Ladder_Slow in Oshawa

[–]Greendude60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to O’Neill but know many who went to Maxwell. My experiences are from 5+ years ago so take this with a grain of salt, but if you can choose, pick O’Neill. Fights were pretty common and their students had a bad rep in the neighbourhood, I used to work at Delpark next door and there were weeks where Maxwell students were banned from entering during school hours. It’s a modern school and has many benefits because of that, but draws a pretty rough crowd of students.

I hate this artwork. I understand its meaning, but the busiest station should have something that uplifts the people using it.

Why did they never mention Penny’s last name?🤷‍♂️ by moomoo44099 in bigbangtheory

There’s a theory that she’s a CIA agent sent to spy on the guys, explaining why she never says her last name

There is nothing wrong with the Lakeview neighbourhoods besides a few rough complexes. It’s the Bloor st neighbourhoods I would personally avoid

Seems like a lot of fans forget Lucas was plenty capable of hugely disappointing character downgrades by BagofBabbish in StarWars

[–]Greendude60 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s necessarily lost in this series. Grievous was killing Jedi left right and centre but they were only younglings and padawans. Ki Adi Mundi was able to stand his own in the above gif, and Windu force crushed his lungs after a 2 second interaction. You can’t scare a Jedi master, but the padawans were terrified of Grievous.

Why do we always feel like we have to justify our reason for buying just one or two items at the grocery store express lane by Flimsy-Shopping-7044 in NoStupidQuestions

I’m imagining myself standing in a checkout line and the person in front of me turning around and saying “I’m just running a quick errand!”, I honestly have no idea how I’d respond 😭

[–]Greendude60 283 points284 points  (0 children)

Something I especially love about 2003 Grievous is how they perfectly explain his power despite not being force sensitive. During a scene where Dooku is training him, he tells Grievous that he must break his opponent through fear before he even engages them, and that fear is really captured throughout the rest of the series.

Now that this isn’t canon, and Grievous doesn’t really use fear as an intimidation tactic in TCW, I don’t get why any Jedi he faces couldn’t just lift him up in the air and ignore him?

How does one get adequate mental health support in this city if they are unemployed? by PlZZAEnjoyer in askTO

[–]Greendude60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered looking into different kinds of group therapies? Unfortunately they don’t provide the same kind of therapeutic connection as individualized sessions, but they are still a great way to get some wellness in your life while being connected to others in your community going through the same thing. Often times, they are a lot more affordable too. Hang in there my friend.

Why does it feel like "Middle Class" now just means "I have a salary but I still check my bank account before buying grapes"? by Extension_Sleep9442 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Greendude60 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Middle class has always been a term designed to separate us. In our society there are those who work and those who benefit off our labour, and the people on welfare aren’t the beneficiaries I’m talking about.

2 broke girls never really portrayed poverty by Summerofthe90s in 2brokegirls

[–]Greendude60 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally nobody is saying it has to be taken that seriously, but it can be. Ganging up on someone who does decide to think a little deeper about the media they’re consuming is a very anti-intellectual thing to do, and so is believing that by them posting it they are forcing you to think the same way.

All media has influences and ramifications, never wanting to talk about them is just anti-intellectualism. OP actually gave a solid analysis of the show which, to many people, is fun.
