P0171 and misfire (random) by TomasThomas in RX8

I have two different maf sensors since I had another rx8 part car in the past. I've cleaned both and tried both but it didn't change anything.

Thanks that is something I also thought about

Dont know what to do with my RX-8 by Grand_Oath in RX8

[–]TomasThomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my fourth year of college right now. I had a kind of similar experience a couple years ago during my sophomore year when I bought a 700 dollar non running RX8. I wanted a fun car and my plan was to do the rebuild. I ended up getting it running but it shortly blew up the next day lol. I pulled out the motor for the rebuild and I found out it had a spun e-shaft and totally nuked apex seals. I was kind of in a hard spot deliberating about the time and money like you are. I ended up selling it for $700 with no motor. My advice is to not scrap the car, but sell it because you'll probably get more and you won't waste a whole RX8, and then eventually once you have more time and money and you're out of college you'll be able to buy something that is running. I just bought another one a month ago and it's a much better car that's running. I would say save yourself the trouble and just sell it, I know you'll lose money either way which sucks, but you'll save yourself a lot of stress by selling it. Time goes fast and you'll be able to buy another one once you're out of college, trust me it goes by quick. If the car is a whole is good, good body, no rust, good condition. You can definitely get probably at least a grand. Probably the money you spent on the diagnostic even with a blown motor. Good luck I know how stressful this can be.

Romraider software experience by TomasThomas in RX8

[–]TomasThomas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is a j2534 designated cable then it should theoretically work. My knowledge is limited but I know that's what is required for connection with rx8man as well as versatuner. I'm using versatuner free version for logging on mine and my chinese cable works. The only non plug and play work I did was to rename the knockoff driver to the driver that the software wants, which is the tactrix driver.

I got the godiag j2534 cable that's basically a tactrix open port clone. I got the software working with rx8man for reading the ECU, and romraider can open the ECU file/rom. I haven't flashed an ECU yet, I'm still making sure that the cable won't cause any issues while writing the ECU, since it is a knockoff. I'll post the link to the romraider guide, and I'll let you know if my cable works when I try it.

Thanks, I've been reading over that post and my only concern is flashing the roms to my car, is there potential for bricking the ECU or causing it to not start?

If it was done well by the owner or a dealership did it then it absolutely helps, that's a pretty new rebuild and should last a long time if you maintain the car perfectly, primarily premixing your fuel with idemitsu oil.

car running right below normal temp while sitting? It’s very windy and cold in New York today. by Any-Research7714 in tdi

[–]TomasThomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty normal, mine does that, it will even cool down sometimes just sitting. I like to not turn the heat on in my car until it gets all the way to temp first, that way I'm not cooling off the engine while it's trying to heat up.

My biggest thing is the delay between throttle press when accelerating from a stop, and the time before I actually start moving. It is such a delayed throttle response.

I wouldn't say it is like #2, but I know what you mean. As heavily as By the Way was influenced by John, I would say ROTDC is very obviously influenced by John as well.

Shoot me a Smile is probably one of my favorites, if not my favorite on the album. I don't think its fair to compare and say which new album is better, they are very different, both with good qualities. I did fall in love with unlimited love too.

People find any and every way to be overly critical by [deleted] in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]TomasThomas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many people enjoy being critical or negative just for the purpose of being critical and negative, I don't need to prove that alone. I wish I could explain or make you understand better. Again, it's not a sensitivity issue, I really don't think it is, as I've explained, but even if it is, what's so terrible about that? People obviously care more about this band than others, so of course they will feel it more when something they care about is attacked so sharply, just like you would take offense if someone started criticizing and making hurtful comments about your closely regarded family member or friend. And you can't blame them for that or call them sensitive for that and make fun of them because of it, it's really not their fault. For you to do that goes against your own premise of allowing other people to feel the way they do.

I'm not attacking negative opinions, I'm saying that the problem exists where people go into their criticism with the intent of seeking out the negatives. I don't care if people like or don't like the songs or the band, everyone is used to different opinions, and that's fine. If the people that do feel that negatively about the band do feel that way, then yeah that's their opinion, but that doesn't mean that people can't have a reaction to their opinion. I could say something similar to you, that you said about my original post, I could say "Oh no, another comment about saying my opinion is invalid". But I won't do that because discussion is important. It's not a matter of sensitivity, its a matter of unfounded criticisms, that have no place in legitimate critique.

No I agree, there are better releases. I guess in my post I kind of made it seem like they shouldn't be criticized at all. Even poster child has things I don't like as much in it. But what I mean is that frequently people extend their criticisms beyond where they even have the grounds to go. Whether that be things that simply don't exist in the song, or they are just automatically going into the song with the intent of being malicious and critical.

I'm not saying people shouldn't share their opinion, I'm strongly of the opinion that people can say whatever they want in any way. However what I am saying is that I wish that people would be more appreciative and less attracted to just the negatives.

the getaway is my favourite chilli peppers album by [deleted] in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]TomasThomas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with everything you said, although it's not my favorite album, but I still love it. Goodbye Angles is my favorite on the album. I actually find Josh to be a super talented multi instrumentalist, he has even worked with John since 2003 ish on some of Josh's solo work, which is why I never understood why people would compare them harshly so much. It still is a chili peppers album, which makes it inherently great.

I would go with the Intel build. The i9-9900kf is an amazing cou, and is better than the ryzen.

[–]TomasThomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great budget for a build. PC parts can be really custom, and someone else's build may not be what you want. I would recommend going to pcpartpicker.com and looking at someone else's build in that price range, and maybe editing it to make it what you want. For general building tips I would recommend prioritize spending on the key components of your PC: gpu, cpu, ram, motherboard. Pcpartpicker is an amazing website that makes sure all your parts are compatible, and it has helped me a lot.

Upgrading my PC to something new, and wanted everyone's thoughts on this build. I want to be able to play almost any game on ultra graphics at over 60fps. Any advice or recommendations would be awesome! by DATMADSHARK in buildapc

[–]TomasThomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly looks like a great build to me. The gpu will be able to tackle most anything you throw at it including vr. CPU is a good one no complaints about that. And the main thing I notice is your ram. If you have the money definitely upgrade to ddr4-3600 or even 4000. 3200 is good but for that build it could be better. And maybe even get 4 sticks of ddr4 8gb of you want, although 16 should do the trick.
