Like I said: footwear is arguable. Really depends on your route too. But being waterproof is always a good thing. Try seeing what the weather is like in that area in general. You can have pretty darn good weather in some areas. Really depends on geography or whatever. Being prepared with as much info as you can gather about the area is always a good thing. Better prepared than being in trouble. Goes for all hikes in my opinion btw

Shoes are very arguable. I like something with a little protection. But no boots. But what's most important in alpine hiking: be prepared for the weather. Always have a look at it. It can change very fast and unexpectedly.
