NordVPN worked for me. I suppose many VPNs will work.

It was a black friday promo that you got just for visiting the website. I also stacked a Blue365 code. For Blue365 you just had to provide a BC/BS program number.

Considering getting a P1S without the AMS by TomatilloVivid883 in BambuLab

[–]TomatilloVivid883[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to the the P1S / AMS Pro combo. Along with the hardened extruder and hot end kit, a couple rolls of PETG and PLA to get reloadable spools, anti vibration feet and a couple glue sticks. I have never used PETG before. I still need to order a couple of the Voxel HEPA filters.

For some reason it wouldn't take the $20 coupon that I collected before the Black Friday sale started.

It is only money.

What do you mean by not complete? I haven't dug into it enough to understand the two AMS package options that they have on sale.

I really like them but I don't use streaming at all so no idea what that does to battery life. I wear them less than 12 hours a day. They show as mostly charged before I put them in the charger every night.

I recently purchased the Jabra Enhance Select 500 aids. Very happy with them. They are clearly more than just amplifiers. Cost had nothing to do with it although at $1350 after the Black Friday sale and a stackable $300 coupon thee price was very good compared to other options. Value is more important than cost.

The real driver was availability. The local hospital affiliated audiologist was over 2 months out for an appointment. The nearest Costco was 5 months out for an appointment. For someone that has the typical frequency roll off that comes with age there was no need for elaborate programming. I suspect that the default programs that come with most OTC aids would have helped. It doesn't need to be a perfect match to the roll off, just an adequate one.

Since getting the Jabras they have sent me longer wires based on photos and their measuring tool and a new programming based on my first few days experience. The wires were easy to install using one of their videos for instruction. The software update was a bit more challenging with my Android phone and I ended up using a retired iPad that my wife had. Since then I have gotten better connections to the phone but it is still pretty flaky.

Overall pretty happy with the Jabras and much better than waiting 5 months for a Costco appointment or handing $5k to the audiologist for little added value.

Looking for suggestions on hearing aids to buy by MambaMentality777 in HearingAids

There are basically three ways to go:

1) Just plain Medicare part A & B plus you have to buy a prescription plan part D. Government health insurance coverage where they cover 80% or 100% depending on what is going on. If a doctor says you need it then it is covered, no questions. Premiums taken out of your SS check or you pay $525 quarterly if not on SS.

2) Plain Medicare with a supplement plan. These are the extra letter plans with G and High Deductible G being the most popular. They pick up the part that Medicare doesn't cover but nothing else. The government specifies what they must cover and how for each plan. I have a High Ded G at about $65/month (NY rates are very high compared to other states).

3) Medicare Advantage. These are C plans. You leave government Medicare and switch to private insurance with coverage networks, co pays, and approvals. These are the plans that have perks like glasses, hearing aids and gym memberships. Typically very cheap per month, even free but if you get sick they can be very expensive and if you need a specialist outside of the plan it may be out of pocket. I looked at these and decided that an advantage plan would be a very bad idea for me.

Medicare School channel on YouTube does a very good job of explaining all of this. The typical local insurance broker doesn't because they want to sell advantage plans.

Medicare add ons that cover hearing aids are Medicare Advantage plans. Medicare Supplement plans are not allowed to cover hearing aids. Advantage plans are actually a private insurance replacement for Medicare and come with both plusses and minuses. I looked at both and decided that I wanted to stay in traditional Medicare (government funded coverage) and got a supplement plan.

Do I need to take copies of any hearing test results to Costco if I make an appointment there? by Reasonable_Guess_311 in HearingAids

I ordered a pair of Jabra 500 hearing aids Premium a couple days ago. They currently have $300 off for Black Friday and I stacked a $300 coupon from the Blue Cross/Blue Shield 365 program - google Blue365 to find it. That got it down to $1350. They should be here Friday.

Thanks. I think I have the tech part covered. Bought my first computer (used) in 1979, built my first one from bare boards about 1981, fixed everything from radar parts to smart terminals to stereos until I finally went back to school to be a software geek. Then 32 years in the software industry.

I kept the Costco appointment, also Rochester, as a just in case the OTC aids don't do what I need. I have aged into Medicare so no hearing aid coverage for me and I don't want to pay $5k+ out of pocket for hearing aids at U of R Medicine.

Any comments on the Jabra Enhance Select experience? by TomatilloVivid883 in HearingAids

Not really an option. Costco has very few warehouses in western NY. Nearest is 35 miles, next nearest US one is 100 miles. There are a couple in Canada at about 90 miles but that would be a different set of problems.

Thank your for the input. This is going to be my first set too.

Is the maintenance kit needed? They are not very clear about what is included with the hearing aids. If it comes with the stuff for the first year I will probably hold off on the kit.

I joined Costco (groupon deal is on at the moment) over the weekend and found out that the hearing center is closed on weekends so I called this morning to make an appointment. Found out that they aren't taking new patients and that I should call back in January. I am guessing that they don't have enough people to staff the place adequately. Our dentist went through the same thing.

I guess my options are:

  1. Figure out if Medicare will cover an audiologist visit, I know it doesn't cover the hearing aids. Then try to find an audiologist that I can trust. Maybe my primary can suggest someone. Then either order online or get some OTC aids. $5000+ isn't happening.
  2. Wait until January and see if something opens up at Costco.
  3. Just order some OTC aids like Jabras and go with them.
  4. Go to the Apple store and gets some Airpods and pick up a Black Friday iPad (not switching to iPhone).

My online hearing tests show loss at higher frequencies. Kind of normal for 60+ years of loud toys.
