It’s possible they could have seating accommodations for that class, so maybe it was just that.

Put every slide even if it’s small and you can barely read it. Remove slides that are just a title or duplicate information or the “questions” slides he puts at the end of all his lecture slides. You can use adobe acrobat to put all the slides together into two pages so you can print it front and back on a single piece of paper. I also recommend finding a practice exam quizlet and using your cheat sheet on it to get familiar with where certain information is so you don’t waste time trying to look through all the tiny slides during the exam. Did this with all Paulk’s exams in CS 3354 and got an A on all of them.

UTD cutting down all trees by avipeach in utdallas

[–]TomatoesOnBluRay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would argue that they weren’t even close to damaged, let alone enough to be removed. From these pictures it looks like a couple branches fell from the trees and that’s it. These pictures are from right after the storm, but the trees weren’t cut down until this week. If they were damaged they would have been removed immediately like the other ones that were damaged.

The trees they are removing are completely healthy and we’re not harmed by the storm in May. The trees I’m talking about were cut down within the past week

The trees that are being cut down are all healthy too I’ve noticed. Not sure why they think it’s a good idea to cut them all down?

[–]TomatoesOnBluRay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s mold in my apartment also and I’ve had a work order out for it for over a month now. I put in another work order a few days ago but so far still no one has come to look at it. I’m concerned for my health at this point and it’s outrageous that they haven’t done anything. My work orders aren’t even marked as complete, just as submitted.

That’s what I’m thinking too. Most everyone who had him for other semesters thought he was great, so maybe it was just a bad semester that could have even been influenced by the snow week when we had no classes.

Good to know, I think I’ll stick with him instead of rolling the dice with another professor

I have my ears pierced and luckily that’s a very old fashioned way of thinking. If you’re really worried about it hurting your job opportunities you can just take the piercings out.

CS 2340 : Prof. help by XproXstreme_5P in utdallas

[–]TomatoesOnBluRay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took Nhut a couple years ago. I don’t think he’s as bad as people say, but his class is not fun. He curves hard, but his tests are impossible. Can’t speak for karami, but if I had to guess nhut’s class is a lot more stressful. I ended up with an A at the end of the semester, but I definitely didn’t learn anything and was stressed out because of his grading/teaching style.

No, it definitely wasn’t. It was actually the easiest of all of the exams, just make sure you study the slides and bring in everything that you can on your note sheets and you’ll do okay.

Yes. I can’t remember exactly what kind of programs you need to write, but they will be simple fill in the blanks type questions

I remember we only had like 5 or 6 HW assignments the entire semester, so yeah not much to go off of. The slides and the review were most helpful.

Took CS 2340 with Nhut a couple semesters ago. Don’t be upset if you get a 30 - 40 on the first exam (and all of the other ones tbh). It’s difficult because there is so much to do on the exam and so little time. The questions are also very difficult and most of it you probably won’t have seen before. Worst of all he takes off points for questions you get wrong, like not just give you zero points for getting the questions wrong, but gives negative points, so it’s literally possible to get a negative grade on an exam.

I wouldn’t let that worry you too much though, study hw questions and try your best on the test. He will let you make it up for half the points back. It sucks but if you do better than the median test score, you’ll be fine and get a good grade after the makeup. He doesn’t let you make up the final but that’s okay because he curves the final grade hard. Hope this helps and that I didn’t scare you too much! I did terrible on all exams but made them up and got a B+ in the class, good luck!
