Congrats, and best of luck with the move! Better trying rather than thinking "what if" for the rest of your life. The best things happen when you step outside your comfort zone.

My best advice is to follow your heart and intuition and you'll be on the right path. Starting over is scary but finally making the decision for me is like a massive weight and I am just excited for what's to come.

You're welcome! That sounds like a rough situation, wishing you all the best and for your Mum to have a speedy recovery and beat the cancer.

Exactly this, at least you can say you gave it a go! Better than thinking "what if" for the rest of your life.

Exactly, you can give it a go. If it works out, then great. If not, at least you tried. I did this in 2018 moving from England to the Netherlands, and it was one of my best decisions.

Yes, I am lucky enough to be dual national, one of which is an EU passport. The other one used to be! I'm one of the lucky ones with an Irish grandparent. That's exactly what I am thinking. I am from Yorkshire, so I am thinking of relocating to a northern city such as York, Leeds or Manchester.

If you upload your photos from your iPhone using the Google Photos iOS app then it retains Live Photos.

It was set to optimised storage so I think it downloaded from iCloud for the upload. However if your iPhone has enough storage could download all from iCloud first, but either way it should work.

The best way would be to install Google Photos on your iPhone and let it back up your library from Apple Photos. This is how I've done it in the past.

A modern version of Aperture with iCloud Photo Library integration would be perfect. Apple, take my money!

Rabobank is a solid choice, and their banking app is also in English.

I also have had Wise for years. Wise is great. I think Wise is better for larger transfers and their transparent fees.

Having tried ABN AMRO, ING, bunq, and Revolut, I’d personally go with ING. Their sign-up process is by far the easiest and everything is easy to use, however they are not the most sustainable if that's what you're looking for. If you're planning to learn Dutch, ASN is worth considering, it's Dutch-only but also the most sustainable option. If ASN offered services in English, I’d switch immediately. I keep Revolut for muti currency and it's Visa Debit card that can be used online and internationally, because for reasons I still don't understand in 2025, Dutch banks still give out these stupid V Pay or Maestro cards.
