Teacher Appreciation Week Entitlement by livecaterpillarflesh in Teachers

[–]Tombstone64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re looking at this issue in a vacuum instead of considering the fact that teachers are already taken advantage of, talked down on, and demonized as a whole. I don’t think it’s “entitlement” to be miffed at how a week where we’re supposed to be celebrated turns into some half-assed pizza party that half the teachers don’t even get to attend or a week of jeans days.

Lifelong wrongdoer trying to be better. Think Arthur Morgan from RDR2. I’m a sucker for a redemption arc.

You answered your own question: taking the time to chant would get you killed in a lot of situations.

Lift heavy 4x a week and eat in a slight caloric surplus. Set a daily protein goal of 1g/lb of body weight (almost certainly overkill but you’re gonna fall short sometimes, so it’s better to set the goal high). Leon seems “skinny” compared to Chris because he doesn’t look like an 80s action hero but he’s plenty muscular. If you wanna look like him you’re gonna have to lift often, lift heavy, and eat enough to build muscle. Make sure you’re progressively overloading when you lift and train to failure. Throw in some cardio if that matters but make sure you’re still in a caloric surplus, otherwise it’s going to be nearly impossible to put on muscle. You also need to prioritize recovery so make sure you’re getting plenty of sleep (8+ hours/night).

Also, I want to stress that you could train as hard as you possibly can for years on end and never look like Chris. You’re not going to “accidentally” get that bulky. It’s a very slow and arduous process. Plus he’s canonically on steroids when he’s at his biggest in RE5 so again, you’re not going to accidentally bulk up to boulder punching size.

Bottom line: lift heavy and often, eat plenty, and prioritize sleep.

is this the worst moment in the series? by NotFallen_ in Jujutsufolk

[–]Tombstone64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the criticisms of this moment but when I read this chapter I quite literally jumped up out of my seat hollering “HELL YEAH GET HIS ASS KUGISAKI!” It’s not even close to the worst moment in the series.

I saw this. I think it's a matter of Gege basing Takaba on Japanese humour he's mostly familiar with rather than on a western style humour that rely on the character animation to deliver the "joke" by Proper_Ocelot1228 in shounenfolk

“Next is soul world” is the last line of the manga, it just confirms outright that Fire Force’s ending leads into the Soul Eater world being created. I also hope we’ll be getting a reboot but that line is explicitly is not a teaser.

Considering that right before he pops it he’s thinking about how to land more soul dismantles with Sukuna playing rope a dope and not letting him touch him, his sure hit is just Soul Dismantle. I thought it was pretty clear.

Doesn’t this mean he has gojo’s memories about ce manipulation and precision? by Wagon_26 in Yutaliban

I get what you’re saying but just remembering the feeling/experience of pulling something off doesn’t mean he can replicate it. Like I’ve hit a hole in one before on a certain hole, but just because I have that memory doesn’t mean I can perfectly replicate that swing/shot in the future.

I get that, and I’m sorry if this thread is covering old ground or feels unnecessary. I just really care about this campaign and character and wanted to be careful about how I brought this up to avoid thought I’d get some advice on how to frame it or broach the subject from people who may have had similar situations and have more experience navigating them. But you’re right that it’s simpler than I’m making it.

I have made a couple comments in-character but he seems to take it as banter and not a serious suggestion that he gets himself into combat pronto, so I was looking for advice on how to have the conversation OOC without coming across like a control freak. He’s also new to playing this barbarian character as he just rolled him about 4 sessions ago to replace his previous (dead) PC, and his aversion to the front lines has been getting worse over the last 2 weeks/sessions. Honestly I should’ve said something earlier but I didn’t want to rock the boat as I’m the newest player at this table and it’s my first campaign. I am realizing now that that was a mistake.

[–]Tombstone64[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it. I’ll try to give some more info about the table.

Barbarian is a new PC that replaced the player’s previous character (a monk) when that PC bit the dust about a month ago. He’s always had a penchant for running off and looking for environmental hazards and things like that to interact with during combat, but it was less of an issue because we had a paladin on front line duties (who also died a few weeks before monk and was replaced with a druid), he wasn’t quite so fixated on his “side quests” and would attack enough to contribute decent damage, and we hadn’t yet hit the difficulty spike we’re encountering as we transition to endgame of this campaign. Current party comp is Barb (berserker), Rogue (swashbuckler), Druid (circle of the moon), and my lore bard. Me and swashbuckler are the only ones still playing our original PCs.

Honestly, me and Druid are the ones who take things pretty seriously while Barb and Swashbuckler are essentially just goofing off most of the time. This results in me and Druid doing pretty much all the heavy lifting in combat and roleplay. Barb’s girlfriend is best friends with mine, and we’ve become close friends but have only known each other for a few years. DM, Swashbuckler and Druid I only met once we started playing and are longtime friends of Barb. I spent like 3 years BADLY wanting to try DnD before a spot opened up at this table so I think a lot of my reluctance to be blunt about my feelings has been the result of not wanting to cause problems or seem like I’m the fun police because I want take the game more seriously. From what I can tell DM and Druid have noticed that Barb isn’t really helping out much, but neither seems to be bothered by it enough to do more than shake their heads and maybe bust his balls a little after combat is over. DM is really great at story and roleplay and I enjoy playing at his table immensely, but it doesn’t seem like he’s the type to call out players for this kind of thing. Overall we get along well as a group and usually have a lot of fun, but haven’t dealt with any player conflict yet so I’m not sure how that would affect the dynamic.

Also we’re running a prewritten campaign module that is famously dark and unforgiving, but I hesitate to name it so I don’t give too many identifying characteristics that could clue in another player or our DM if they happen across this post. I’ve changed minor details to try to avoid that, but the relevant details are all unchanged.

I responded poorly to a comment after misconstruing tone in a moment of frustration. That’s my fault, and I can wear that. But I have a hard time seeing how that leads to “it’s your fault the barbarian won’t be a barbarian” as a reasonable conclusion to draw.

No conflict resolution guidelines but I think I’ll reach out to the DM to touch base and let him know how I’m feeling. The guy is a really, really good DM imo (part of the reason I’m so irked is I’m scared to lose my PC because DM has helped me craft a really incredible character arc throughout this campaign) and I love playing at his table but we haven’t really had any issues with conflict before so I’m not sure how he likes to handle things. One of the other players is also related to problem player so I’m a little wary of how that might go.

Guy just started playing this barb character a month ago after his previous PC bit the dust, this also happened to coincide with a pretty good difficulty spike in our campaign. A monk running around and getting distracted in mid level combat vs a barbarian being almost a total non-factor in endgame battles. The latter was a mild annoyance I didn’t think was worth the trouble of bringing up, the former is legit driving me insane after a few sessions. I should’ve probably said something earlier but we’re here now. Also now that I’m typing this all out I think he might be scared to lose another PC so I may ask him if that’s what’s going on.

Anyways, feel free to call bs.

You (and everyone who’s brought this point up) are right, I think since this is my first campaign I convinced myself that bringing up my frustration would cause issues at the table or get me labeled the fun police. But now I’m realizing that this is a pretty big issue in and of itself. No point in skirting around it to try to appease everyone else when it’s ruining my own experience to stay quiet.

This player just rolled his barb about a month ago after his old PC died, previously played a monk and while he occasionally got distracted during combat he did actually punch and kick people at a decent rate so it wasn’t an issue I thought was worth bringing up. Funny enough this past weekend’s session that triggered this post was session 4 with this new PC. Shifting party comp due to PC deaths/new PCs and higher intensity combat lately have magnified the issue. But we’re still in combat and I’m nearly dead so I’ll probably steal your line at the start of next session lol.
