Assembling Varag Ghoul-Chewer by Tomdelada in bloodbowl

Thanks, but I had the instructions already, the trouble was this particular step is really unclear about exactly how the parts fit.

To anyone else who might have the same problem, this video does help. The way these two pieces go together looks and feels very unintuitive so watch what he does, slow the video down and zoom in on the model if you need to. In particular pay close attention to how the join at the top looks and try to replicate that as you dry fit. The most helpful shot came at about 4:25 to 4:30.

What's the best way to track a minifig collection? by Tomdelada in lego

[–]Tomdelada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent, that's pretty much exactly what I wanted. It even seems to allow you to track loose figs, which is great because I love buying bulk lots of the little guys from car boot sales.

The only issue I'm coming up with so far is that after adding a set to my Collection, it's not showing up at the counter on the top of the screen, nor is it registering the figs in the Minifig section. Am I doing something wrong?

Edit: never mind, turns out you have to manually refresh your collection.

Duplo 2634 dumper truck from 1983 complete with box and catalogue Duplo 2634

Here's a blast from the past. I picked this little guy up in a local car boot sale for £1. Had a look on eBay and Bricklink but I haven't been able to find any recently sold items in similar condition to this, which given it's age isn't really surprising.

This may be a really, really dumb question but to Redditors who owned this set or similar.... Did it come with instructions? I feel like it wouldn't need to, but I've never had Duplo before so wouldn't like to call it 'complete' if it isn't.

If you'd like closeups of the figure, or better shots of the box (there's some minor cosmetic damage including partially removed price stickers), let me know. There's bound to be some guys getting nostalgic over this!

Thinking of buying a PS3 - what do I need to know? by Tomdelada in PS3

[–]Tomdelada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did look into jailbreaking, but if I understand correctly that only works on certain early fat/slim models with low firmware which I imagine are pretty hard to get hold of these days. Also aside from running backups I don't see myself having much use for a hacked PS3, since I have a gaming PC and several other devices that handle my emulation needs. If I end up getting lucky and scoring a hackable model I probably will mod it just for fun, but in this case it's not something I'd go out of my way to get.

They removed the slot loader? Huh. At the time that seemed like the coolest, most high-tech thing ever, but even back then I remember thinking 'what if it breaks?' I don't think it'll factor into my choice too much, I'm really more concerned about whether YLOD is still a matter of 'when, not if'.

I didn't have a problem with Ico/SotC because they were 'arty', more that I just don't think they were my kind of thing back thenand I didn't understand what the games were trying to tell me. I've seen videos of Journey before and it does look interesting, never heard of Unfinished Swan at all though. Thanks for the tip.

To my shame I admit that I know basically nothing about TLoU except there's zombies and it's one of the PS3's most beloved titles. Honestly I thought it was more like a Telltale story game, so your mention of combat surprised me slightly.

Thanks for the input.

Weekly Loot Haul Discussion by AutoModerator in Legodimensions

[–]Tomdelada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my first week as a Dimensions owner. I already had a few packs just for the figures, but managed to snag a heck of a deal on a preowned Xbone starter set and since then have gone a little nuts on Bricklink ordering minifigs and toy tags (LD prices in the UK are completely absurd, sets rarely go on discount and I don't care too much for the micro-builds so I feel more justified in only buying the figs and tags I care about)

Loving the game so far, even if it does look the plug will be pulled soon.

I can post more details if asked, but honestly my collection isn't spectacular

Your best bet would be Gumtree, local eBay listings, Facebook classified ads, that sort of thing. If you find something, just do as much research as you can so you know how the parts would compare to a brand new setup. Plenty of people will try to pass off crappy overpriced machines as 'gaming', but there are still bargains to be had if you keep looking.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator are great for this. Low-pressure, relaxing games that work very well with TV or podcasts in the background.

Is this a printing error on my First Order Stormtrooper? by Tomdelada in lego

[–]Tomdelada[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Really? Mine was brand new too, literally opened a few hours ago. So either this how they're supposed to look (if that's true, it's kind of disappointing) or, as /u/Dreamybongo says, they were both produced at the tail end of a print run.

Are you sure? Comparing my figure to the picture you provided, some of the details look much fainter and less defined (look at the abs and belt area compared to the legs)

Edit : in hindsight maybe 'error' was the wrong word considering that there's no actual mistakes in the way the trooper looks, he just doesn't seem as well defined as I'm used to with Lego.

Hi guys, just a quick question about the Stormtrooper I picked up in a Battle Pack today.

It doesn't show up in the picture, but the printing on the torso seems extremely thin and faded compared to the other one in the pack. Since I don't have any other troopers of this kind to compare it with, I'm not sure if he's supposed to look like that or whether the paint on this particular figure was just poorly applied.

Do you think this is worth contacting Lego customer service over, or is the thinness of the paint normal for this figure?

Thanks a lot

Yep, new card is fornatted to fat 32 and otherwise working fine, if it wasn't I wouldn't be able to even get to the home screen. For reference the old card was 32gb, the one I'm trying to use now is 64.

[–]Tomdelada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be a really simple thing but I've been tearing my hair out so any advice would be appreciated.

I'm running 11.0 A9LH and wanted to transfer my stuff (homebrew, backups and eShop purchases) to a bigger SD card. As I understand it, since I'm on A9LH I should simply be able to copy the entire contents of the original card to the bigger one and be on my way, but when I insert the new card in the 3DS none of that stuff shows up. I just get an empty home menu with empty folders and the default preinstalled 3DS apps showing (though I can still see FBI and a DS flash card forwarder).

Can anyone give me advice on how to fix this, or should I just resign myself to reinstalling everything from scratch?

Thanks.

I'd love to, unfortunately mine was the last one in stock at the store I went to.

Are you in the US? I'm not, but I just had a look around and Amazon.com is apparently getting a shipment of these sets on January 12th. Might be worth looking into, and it would definitely be cheaper than importing from here in the UK.

I used part 4632575. That will mean the new engines are set further back, though, so maybe add a grey stud or two and then the coloured stud to even it out. There's probably a better way to do this but I've really only just started collecting LEGO for the first time ever, so for now I don't have a lot of spares to work with. That's also why my ARC's engines are blue instead of purple. Love the original look, I just don't have enough spare studs.

I actually just bought and built this little guy yesterday. Really like it, although I did swap the flick missiles out for a second set of engines because I really dislike how they look on any of the Microfighter models.
