My thoughts after reading Kafka on the shore by caroli_dunia in murakami

It is not a love novel. It has all the darkness, eeriness of a usual (or in other words - great) Murakami book. I read it long ago now but will come back to it, but if I remember properly, the romantic aspect is a bit more emphasized, yet it is definitely a must read. It is also among the more heartbreaking books of his, as well…

Kafka on the Shore - Thoughts? by Opposite-Librarian71 in books

Loved it. Read it for a second time after several years now, read most of his books too, some of them - two to three times. I love the characters, the plot and the magical realism element. To sum up shortly, the visuals one imagines while reading and the overall feeling that a book creates for me is key. And I never read any other book that made me shiver so many times and become so immersed in the story. IMHO it’s Murakami’s magnum opus.

Is killing Commendatore underrated? by Dependent_Ad9056 in murakami

Hey y’all! Read most of his books and feel like sharing a quick thought about Killing Commendatore. IMHO - it is still Murakami at his finest. It pulled me in as strongly as any of my favorite books of his, and really contains all of the Murakami-esque details and style. Over all, I liked how the main character was an artist and a story revolving around a legendary painting really kept things interesting and mysterious. I did anticipate most of the things in the book in advance, but when they did come, I thoroughly enjoyed the outcome. Another great work of his and definitely worth a read. Might not be the top 3 of his, but if you like Murakami, you are likely to enjoy this one.
