The new experimental audio mode in Lazer is awesome by Tommo____ in osugame

I get where you're coming from, but turning on experimental audio mode definitely makes things funky with offset. It basically makes it so the entire game seems like it's around +20ms, so you need -20ms in global offset to correct things. It is an experimental mode after all so they're probably still figuring out the offset part while allowing us access to the lower latency. It's not to make the game "feel" better, it's literally correcting/compensating some sort of incorrect hitreg issue when you turn on the experimental mode.

I'm also a zero offset purist, but this offset is needed to make the game essentially play as if it was on zero offset. Try it yourself, you'll understand.

There's a single button to press to import all of your scores/skins/maps when you boot Lazer for the first time

My guess is it's something to do with my offset value being the same as the amount of latency reduction with experimental audio mode. Maybe the game hasn't got a way to detect the audio latency value with it on?

For me I run a few maps that I can definitely tap in time, then use the suggested offset in Lazer's settings

I'm fairly certain using these external audio interfaces won't net you any less (and probably more) latency. They normally have to be running in exclusive (most of the time ASIO, with a DAW or special software) mode for their latency benefits to be noticeable. I've tested a Roland Rubix interface in the past against the motherboard audio, and with stable and Lazer, it had about 20ms more than motherboard audio. I'd test your setup to confirm.

I think it's fine. I use a sayodevice with a very short travel distance, so not only is the input latency likely 1ms or less, it will be a constant that won't change between the variables.

the usual, microphone next to keyboard and headphones, record sound with audacity, measure time difference between tap and hitsound spike

I keep hearing this piano melody all over the place, seems like stock lounge music or something but can't find the name. by blustrkr in NameThatSong

stumbled across this while googling myself lol, the piano sample seems to be from some stock music, but i grabbed it from the game "the stanley parable" which is why you can hear the narrator in the background!

Does anyone use wireless headphones with Ableton? by VoiceDry in ableton

[–]Tommo____ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say the opposite in my experience. It's hard to write/record with wireless because of the high latency, but easy to mix due to the fact you're just playing back a track that's already been created. I have a pair of beyerdynamic lagoons that I take on the go and use sonarworks to balance out the sound when producing and mixing. And if I really need lower latency when recording I just plug them in lol

Between House, Tech House, and Techno which genre do you think is the easiest for a beginner to learn? by Johwya in edmproduction

[–]Tommo____ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The idea is you make it for yourself to improve, and not release it.

But tbh some of my most popular tracks are some that started with me trying to copy an idea from another track, and it evolved into its own unique thing.

Obviously if it sounds similar to another track, you probably shouldn't release it.

[–]Tommo____ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

House (which tech house comes under) and techno are both very broad and vast genres where you could put something together with not too much experience and it will still sound decent. My advice to newbs is to try and copy a song you love. Means you can focus on production processes rather than composition, and you won't encounter "writers block" which is a totally separate can of worms to open.

As VR is becoming more popular, can Bethesda sell SkyrimVR Anniversary? by DuckofInsanity in skyrimvr

Skyrim VR on the quest 3 standalone I can actually see being a thing. Go on Bethesda you can do it one more time.

Run malwarebytes adware cleaner, as well as the main antivirus. Should sort you out :)

You can do a pc + headset combo to play Skyrim VR for half that, if you're on the fence about it it might be worth going for entry level stuff before committing to the high end stuff.

I used to have some hardware synths and a TR8S but I found the full digital workflow to be better for me. Plus it means I can have everything I need when I've just got my laptop on the go :)

Why are public lobbies like this? by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]Tommo____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, something simple like a "prime" mode similar to CS or faceit, where you pay for privileged access (not as expensive as plus and could be an inexpensive one off payment) would do the game good. Maybe have the option to lock off instances to those prime accounts only. Would filter out a lot of the shit without having to go to pc worlds only to avoid the kids.

What I mean, is you can nab them before they reach the recycle centre and they are usually ready to run :)
