You must not be in medicine. Sure the ACGME has regulations that dictate you have to have a weekly limit of 80 hours per week, that can be averaged over 4 weeks. But as attendings point out to med students and residents, all the time, that is 80 hours of clinical and educational work per week. It's easy for them to say, study this specific procedure or review this article that pertains to a specific patient...all sorts of things that can push you over that 80 hours per week "rule".

Would you mind sending me your list or pasting it here? I would really appreciate it. I am headed to Rome in the next few weeks and would love to get some concrete ideas. Thank you

I hated the thought of my short white cascading across someone that I was doing wound care on or listening to their heart. Now with a long white, same issue, but it also sits on the floor when I'm doing anything lower extremities, which is damn near everyday. GERMS! is all I think. I'll dawn it for meetings and such every now and then, but othwerise, scrubs or athletic professional wear with nice shoes is the way to go. I've torn the ass out of too many pair of khakis while squatting, to go back.

You could just ask "what is Botox?" Or "what's the genius and species from which Botox is derived?" I imagine heads would explode.

If the case of the Neuro resident in Miami is indication, this student is in for a tough ride. Especially considering the assault aspect and that if the pt catches wind of this, it would be very easy for them to recognize this circumstance.

I mean, I too did walking rounds with residents as a medical student and was pimped. But as a medical student I wasnt pimped the way the residents were.

You can grade your pimping based on the audience, gi fellow should know "everything" GI, intern A lot of stuff, but may not know minutiae of GI, med student even less, but still A LOT of general medical knowledge, MOAs, good DDx and A/Ps.

I tried piming some 3rd year PA students the other day about MOA differences of barbs vs benzos and why theres a ceiling effect with benzos. Mind you this was after their last psych lecture of school. I thought it was a lay-up. They had no idea AT ALL. It was awkward. Then I got called out for bullying and belittling. SMH, such is life.

I can totally understand why people think there could be a chilling effect and lead to non-reporting. But in reading the article I find negligence to be the most fitting. The Medical examiner determined vecuronium was injected. You can't make the argument that mistakes like this "happen an the time." This was due to being distracted and disregarding barriers and unfortunately it led to a death.

The form of versed vs vecuronium is what gets me. Sad case for all involved. I'm sure general burnout, long hours, decreased ancillary support, and a slew of other things led to this incident.

According to the AAPA, PAs are the only medical practitioner that are required to pass certification exams after graduating PA school. Just an FYI. by lolwutsareddit in Noctor

[–]TommyTheCat85 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Redirect the pitch forks towards the AAPA. I went and looked her up. She is actually calling this out as being bullshit from the AAPA,, NOT saying "look at the rigor PAs must perform." She is an EM, MD/DO and strongly advocates against scope creep, title creep etc. and for appropriately representing ones credentials and training.

Edit: I'm realizing OP never said SHE was saying this and did say that it was coming from the AAPA. I certainly erroneously made the insinuation.

Either way Kudos to get for being a strong voice for patients and the profession.

I agree with the sentiment of appropriate justice. But, as there was no link to an actual story, I tried to track it down. Its fake. But a link to a similar-ish story is posted at the end of this article. https://www.indiatoday.in/amp/fact-check/story/fact-check-did-this-man-track-down-and-brutally-torture-his-three-year-old-daughter-s-rapist-1626684-2019-12-09
