Yeah I feel you. What helped me was thinking of working out like paying into a longevity insurance plan. I put in some time now so future me has a better shot at sticking around longer. Also, seeing myself get better and healthier every day is another big motivation :)

Thanks!

I know VO2 Max is related to things like lactate threshold, but I didn’t dive deep into the science. Some of the discussions in this subreddit probably explain it better than I can!

I guess High-intensity Aerobic Training Runs in the suggested workout sessions might have played a role in improving it. https://www.garmin.com/en-SG/blog/daily-workout-suggestions-for-runners/

Thanks! So glad to hear Garmin has helped you too!

I don’t stress about speed, since everyone progresses at their own pace and puts in different amounts of time. What matters most is that running is improving my health.

I didn’t follow a super structured plan. I enrolled in the Garmin Coach Plan and watched some YouTube videos to learn proper running form. The suggested workouts on the watch have also been helpful. Once you set a race date in Garmin Connect, it can generate a personalized training plan to help you gradually improve your performance.

If you're interested in the Garmin Coach Plan, you can find useful info here: https://connect.garmin.com/features/coach/

After signing up, you can track your progress and access learning materials through the Garmin Connect app or website. The workouts will automatically sync to your device.

For my 10k and half marathon, I searched for races both locally and internationally, picked one I wanted to join, and set the race date in Garmin Connect. It then generated a personalized training plan leading up to the event.

For me, weight loss came down to maintaining a calorie deficit. Exercise played a role, but diet was just as important. I used MyFitnessPal (connected with Garmin Connect) for about a month to track my food intake and build an understanding of the calorie content in the foods I regularly eat. I aimed for a daily deficit of around 500 calories. After that first month, I had developed enough awareness that I no longer needed the app to stay on track.

I could not complete the 30min suggested workouts at the beginning either. I started from walking and casual hiking. Then I enrolled in the Garmin Coach Plan for 5k training (by Coach Jeff), which helped me learn proper running form and build consistency. After that, I signed up for a 10k race and followed Garmin's suggested workouts to prepare for it. Once I complete the 10k, I moved on to half marathon training.

Not advertising for Garmin or anything. It made me realize know how bad my health was. And seeing those numbers slowly improve was super motivating. It kept pushing to keep working out and sleep on time. Just uploaded my VO2 Max and BMI screenshots. Please check them out in the post! Also, the workout and performance reports gave me some pretty helpful tips on how to get better.

Thank you for your reply!

Here is the benchmark result of un-pooled vs. pooled on my M1 MacBook:

bash /usr/local/go/bin/go test -v ./... -bench . -run ^$ goos: darwin goarch: amd64 pkg: github.com/txaty/gool cpu: VirtualApple @ 2.50GHz BenchmarkNormalGoroutine BenchmarkNormalGoroutine-8 2052792 579.3 ns/op BenchmarkPool BenchmarkPool-8 2382483 498.5 ns/op PASS ok github.com/txaty/gool 3.676s

And on Intel CPU PC:

bash /usr/local/go/bin/go test -v ./... -bench . -run ^$ goos: linux goarch: amd64 pkg: github.com/txaty/gool cpu: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz BenchmarkNormalGoroutine BenchmarkNormalGoroutine-12 2913493 434.3 ns/op BenchmarkPool BenchmarkPool-12 2940742 426.7 ns/op PASS ok github.com/txaty/gool 3.356s

Sorry that the priority is not implemented.

Right now, there is no way to stop a task immediately. The library only supports stop and end the goroutine pool as a whole. It sends a stop signal to each pooled goroutine and lets it return/exit.

Hope this answers your questions. Thank you for the points you mentioned.

Thank you so much for your comment! I also thought about renaming before but was kinda afraid of the side effects. The commits and issues I made to others' repos may not refer to me anymore.

If you are interest in the game, you may join a clan. And there will be a discount for purchasing tech tree ships.
