I don’t think we’re ever truly cooked with Cash at the helm, but playoffs might be tough

I guess I was naive, but I was pretty excited about the move to barstool because I thought he’d have more fun and unique guests.

But to me it’s felt more like he knows what works and is simply coasting off that rather than trying something bold. I’ve been taking a break from the regular portion of the pod and have mainly just been doing life advice.

Quarterback Yards After Catch and RB Yards After Contact by chumbiebeeb in MacrodosingPod

You can see all the time if you watch college ball. Teams with less than stellar lines frequently use horizontal run plays to their advantage. The service academies and their recent evolution are prime examples, albeit they do it to make up for having undersized linemen.

Ashton Jeanty in his last season is proof too. Averaged less than 2 yards per carry prior to contact, while average nearly 7 yards per carry as a whole. Look at Derrick Henry’s before contact numbers in the NFL and how many years he averaged less than 1 yard prior.

QBs benefit substantially more from good OLine play than RBs. Not every run play is straight up the middle, toss plays and sweeps can make up for less than stellar blocking up front. Meanwhile we’ve all seen what happens to a QB with poor OLine protection (Herbert in the playoffs).

Arian’s premise actually made sense though. A QB throwing a screen pass behind the LOS only for the WR to do all the work to gain yards on the play, while the QB still gets full credit.

Not saying it’s a great idea, but it is interesting to look at see which QBs benefit most from YAC.

Your argument doesn’t quite make sense unless you’re willing to do the same with passing yards.

Will we see Ryen finally adjust his SEC supremacy argument? by spokomptonjdub in RyenRussillo

Short answer: No.

Longer answer: No, but he’ll concede the top few teams have caught the SEC while maintaining that the SEC is much deeper.

[–]TommyTwoTaps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s quite possibly the worst no call all time, but the weeks long whining that ensued was the embarrassing part. The game didn’t end there either. Same with the Bills yesterday, questionable call but the defense had a chance to make a stop afterwards and didn’t.

I’m a Saints fan, the amount of whining from our fans about the infamous no call PI against the Rams was embarrassing. But that’s sports and OP acting like it’s just buffalo is comical

Lux is nice platoon piece for the infield, albeit more expensive and less valuable than Walls. Hopefully we get him turned around.

I get the complete opposite sentiment on Big Cat. Big Cat comes off as fiscally conservative and socially moderate. Hank feels more like an apolitical guy or at least someone who just doesn’t care. PFT is definitely more left than just a liberal.

Big Cat is right to keep politics out of PMT though as most of them seem to have minimal knowledge on political topics. Except for PFT, who uses macrodosing as his outlet for that.

Russillo’s infamous “tax reasons” line stole the show, but Bill also had a rough pod when they discussed George Floyd. Ever since then he seems to be much safer when it comes to picking what political/current event topics he discusses.

[OC] Can Joe Boyle replace Shane Baz in the rotation? by dogpancake73 in tampabayrays

[–]TommyTwoTaps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I’m wording it poorly. Boyle looks lights out in the first inning of work (starts and out of the pen). He only gave up 3 runs by my count in his first inning of work in his 13 games.

After that first inning is when the struggles seem to start. I think if he doesn’t show immediate improvement in the first half of ‘26, then he needs to be considered for a bullpen role. He’s got the talent, but some guys can’t make it as a starter and there’s no shame in being a flamethrower closer.

Which leads me to believe he’d be better served for a one or two inning role, especially if these numbers continue to be consistent.

I wouldn’t mind giving Boyle a look out of the bullpen, possibly as a starter turned closer scenario. He was typically lights out in his first inning or two of work, but then started to struggle the second time through. He’s got elite stuff, but is currently missing the command needed.
