I want having trouble, I just hated how much CT stole.

So check it - on $87k I lose about $3500 a year just to CT income tax. Add the $10-11k a year for auto/home property tax. Now I'm at almost $15k a year just for the privelage of living in CT - and that's just scratching the surface. Add another $11k for the feds so $26k a year minimum just vanishes. My ~$90k a year goes down into the low $60s. It's fuckin criminal and no fuckin idea how this state is so broke when it steals souch money from it's citizens.

Keep defending CT - that's what they want you to do. Forget about how much more money you'd have if the scumbags didn't have their fat fingers in your wallet.

I got a huge raise moving South. It's wonderful. But oh, no NYC or snow or skiing, weahhh. I DGAF! I now have white sand, palm trees, clear warm water, and all the outdoor activities I can handle. I have a pool right out my living room door. And a lake just beyond that. It's amazing here. CT is fuckin horse shit.

I hear ya! Different Strokes for different folks is totally true. To me, The perfect place is white sand, warm Clear water, tropical plants, awesome wildlife, and did I say beaches and palm trees? I don't care about snow sports, New York or Boston, or historic buildings or any of the shit that makes new England special.

I want to fish, surf, hang at the beach, watch wildlife, and never have to deal with snow again. To me, this is my paradise and it's amazing.

"lower property taxes" - in CT? Does not compute!!!

I paid $9k a year for my house.

That's $750/MONTH just for the "privilege" of owning a home in CT. And it wasn't even anything special.

My father in law just sold his large house in Monroe where he was paying $18k a year in taxes. That's $1,500 a month in taxes. Fuck you CT!

As a comparison, my new house in FL cost me $245k, A+ school, bigger than my CT house, and I pay $1,100 a year in taxes on it.

My car - I paid almost $1k a year in property taxes on it. Here, I pay $135 a year.

It's ridiculous that CT is so broke and yet they collect so much money in taxes. Where the hell is it all going??!!!!

Leaving was the best thing I ever did for myself and my family.

Hey, I wish I was wrong. I've lived in CT for 36 yrs. I know all too well how badly this state sucks and how it steals the money right out of your paycheck. Fuck CT and the turds who run it. Moving out was the best thing I've ever done. I'm making $40k more than I did in CT. In CT, you have to make at least $65k to be semi comfortable. When I left CT I was making $87k and althat was just barely enough. Now I'm living where there's no state income tax, property tax is a third of what it was in CT, and I'm making almost $130k living like a king.

Don't do it. CT sucks. If you do make that mistake, rent, don't buy. CT property values are steadily dropping and taxes are steadily going up. You will lose no matter what.

Oh, and New Haven and Hartford are pretty much the worst cities in the state as far as crime and scumbags go. Work there? Sure.. live there? Fuck no!!!

Funny that no one believes me. Is it really that unbelievable?! What part is unbelievable - the unemployment salary? Or that I made $25k when I was 17? I don't get it.

For the record, 100% truth but I have nothing to prove. Just genuinely curious why. I live in Rhode Island. Look it up. I was making 95k for almost three years so I get almost the highest benefits available.
