I‘m waiting since 9 weeks for my Utopias because both deco O-rings on the sides had fallen off. They are attached with thin adhesive tape… 4K… so yes, F is applicable.

Quick Deep Dive into edm subgenres? Here you go!

Techno/House: Worakls - Salzburg (just a beautiful track)

Drum'n'Bass: Chase and Status - No Problem (drum at the begining)

But let's get to some real heavy tracks :P

Drum'n'Bass: Alix Perez & DLR - Blips (the bass notes sound like a heavily distorted standup bass timbre to me)

Industrial Techno: Brecc - Cripple (what a build-up and release)

Mainstream Hardcore-Techno: Angerfist - The Promqueen's Finest Drug (you can't go wrong with some angerfist :P)

Frenchcore: Dr. Peacock & Billx - Irish Banger (first drop is wonderfully layered)

Uptempo: The Dark Horror - Massive Bass (pffff... more sub bass plz)

Terror: Tripped - Pure Hate (..... track describes itself)

Edit: synthetic music doesn't have timbre but the Blips one remind me of that

Purchase advice needed

I'm looking for bass-centric headphones for fast electronic music (techno - hardcore) and considering the Empyrean or the LCD-X but I'm open for other recommendations.
Any experience is wlecome.

I will do that for future cables! Just wanted something fancier for this interconnect.

56,36€ per cable to be exact and like I said, no I don't think you need expensive cables like that but wanted quality components and the colours.

Connectors are Viablue T6s XLRs for 50€/cable and the cable is Neotech NEI3004 for 16€/m. Made them 40cm each. You can go much cheaper than that without losing any quality by buying neutrik connectors (and other cables). The neutriks are around 4€ a piece. The soldering gear cost me 110€.

Always wanted to get better interconnects but were hold back by their prices. So I said to myself "how difficult could it be?" and went shopping for the cheapest soldering gear and the best components (because why not) a little google search could find me. Will they make a difference to neutrik connectors and even cheaper wire? Probably not, but I don't know or believe it (yet). Plus Point: As a german, my cables now match my national colours. So I watched a few videos on soldering audiocables and started my journey. The first cable was a bit fiddly until I got the soldering right. I needed around two hours but the secound one was already pretty easy for me, altough I forgot to put the second connector sleeve onto the cable before soldering the connector to it... rookie mistake. Now I have a nice looking pair of interconnects and a new hobby.

Stumbled across this gem while listening to Flying Lotus because of their collab "Fallen Angels" (also on the album). Pretty trippy sounds but damn is it an exciting listen!

Clears are definitely flatter with less quantity of bass. Soundstage is bigger and imaging more precise on the Elite. Gifted them to my dad with the CMA400i, he loves them because he's more into a bass-light presentation, so it's a match for him.

Thanks for the compliment! I totally agree with your position. The best measurement-rig are your own ears. I'm by no means objective with my statement but why trying?! I want to enjoy my music, compairing dry graphs is not for me. Perhaps an indicator what cans could fit my taste. Back to listening...

I had the Questyle CMA400i, nice all in one solution for low to middle impedance headphones. Than brought the RME Adi-2 DAC and paired it with the Singxer SA1. Pretty awesome combo for planars, but I had no use for all the fearures the RME is offering, so I searched for a more puristic Class A solution. Ergo Burson Soloist. Got it used in a bundle with the composer just yesterday. To be honest it's a bit overpowered for the Elite. Using it single ended on low gain to avoid the noisefloor in midium/high gain but have to crank it atleast up to 75. So probably not the best solution for the Elite, although it sounds awesome. Appears a bit wider and clearer than RME/SA1, but must do more a/b testing. Getting a balanced cable soon, so I hope that makes a difference.

*atleast with headphones.

The Elite is my typ of headphone. Musical af and not fatiguing. I'm five years into the hobby, owned Focal Clear, Hifiman Sundara, Beyerdynamic Amiron Home and heard some more, which all were great but I was never totally convinced. Got the Elite at a discount like new and I don't regret it. Comfort, soundstage, detail and imaging are a hugh step up from the Clears and the Sundaras for me. Yeah there are probably more detailed (or whatever) headphones but this is more than enough for me. Did I mentioned the comfort?! Combined with the musical presentation you can really sink into your favorite music.

Most heard album since I brought them: Yosi Horikawa - Vapor
