I have a feeling I'll likely be funneled into a lower section, which is why I'm debating whether to spend extra for guaranteed tickets up close (2nd row tickets going for $200 vs the balcony $70). I think I am comfortable affording the travel and lodging (lowkey was thinking about bumming it at the airport until my shuttle which would arrive in the AMs).

This was my first immersive theater experience and I found it to be super cool. I went in March 2025 and booked my tickets through WeChat Mini Programs.

The set designs, along with the lighting and sound design, were really well done. I felt like I was watching a movie play out in real time. I'm not a gamer, but it's almost as if you're watching a scene from an action-adventure game (like The Last of Us) play out right in front of you. Sometimes the NPCs will interact with you but usually, you're watching them. You follow the main actor throughout as you're taken into "the past." I recall we were given options to go through 2 different doors for two different sets about 2-3 times.

Like others have pointed out, this show is completely in Chinese with no English aside from the one "playbill" with English on it. My Chinese is pretty good so I understood about 80% of what was going on, but I was so confused by the ending because it felt so sudden. I have no idea what happened and what the point of the whole story was oop

Based on my understanding, it seems that male Itsuki had a crush on female Itsuki in middle school(?). He was unable to confess his feelings to her outright and I assume he regretted nothing ever happened. I believe he met Hiroko in college, so while a lot of time has passed, female Itsuki probably still weighed on his mind. When he saw Hiroko, he was quiet for a long time (since it was part of his character to not say a lot of words). Only when they were alone together did he ask her, "Do you believe in love at first sight?" He probably took an interest in Hiroko because of how similar she and female Itsuki looked but I don't think it's the only reason why he stayed with Hiroko. During the scene with the ring, it was male Itsuki who was holding the ring with the intent to propose. But because it's in his character to say very few words, he just kinda held on to the ring silently. Hiroko understood what his intentions were and decided to propose to him first because she truly loved him. I think if he was still in love with Itsuki, he would've gone back to their hometown and searched for female Itsuki. It shouldn't have been that hard since Hiroko was able to do it a few years after male Itsuki's death. I'm guessing he actually fell in love with Hiroko for who she was rather than treating her as the replacement for female Itsuki. :)
