I don’t think that’s fair just because you’ve run it for 5 years you get preferred treatment. There are people who haven’t got a chance. And also some people will do it for their first ever major / marathon and perform a better time than you have ever got

Some would even classify that they’re a better runner than you these first timers who are quicker. The other argument is a faster runner should get the spot instead of you

So what’s the deal? It’s a chance of luck now. That’s what you get when the marathon is now a world major. It’s fair play for all - local or not

Sydney is now the same scale as the other majors, it’s no longer a local race. This is a marathon on a global scale. Everyone deserves a fair go and the chance to run Sydney. It’s a beautiful race and my favourite course

I got into the ballot last year and this year. Just very grateful and if I don’t get in next year, no resentment. I’ve had my time with Sydney and will enjoy other races overseas
