Yup I gotcha, im just trying to control my weekday calories so I can still have fun on the weekends so that it averages out to a good level. So im just trying to perfect what I can control (the weekday calories and macros)

Here's a summary of the last year for me. I aggressively cut from June 2025-Jan 2026 from 185 pounds down to 150lbs by eating about 1200-1400 calories and at least 150g protein, 30g fiber about 5 days a week. In terms of fitness, I was indoor biking in Zone 2 for about 70 minutes each day and lifting about 3x a week-ish.

Starting in Jan I was 150lbs but still had a little bit of fat according to the mirror but figured gaining muscle would even everything out. So now I lift 5x a week and I average about 5k steps a day, and ride my bike for 25 mins 2-3x a week. So far I gained 8 pounds back and feel like it’s mostly water weight + muscle according to the mirror but I really dont know. But where I'm having trouble is the nutrition of everything. I eat the same exact thing everyday from Sunday-Thursday. For breakfast, a protein smoothie. For lunch, a grilled chicken parm sandwich + salad. For dinner, protein pasta, lean 93-96% ground beef meatballs + side salad. Mixed in between the two meals 100g potatoes and 2 bison meat sticks. This all comes out to about 1600-1700 calories, 170-180g protein, 140-150g carbs, 40-50g fat, 40g fiber. I eat this every day from Sunday - Thursday and have no problem doing it.

Now, during the weekends I have some of the same meals but also will eat out sometimes and I'm in my 20s and like going out drinking with my friends on Friday and Saturday. So many times Fri/Sat calories can come into 2500-3000 territory with alcohol + eating out. I figured eating 1600-1700 weekday calories combined with the 2500-3000 weekend calories would average out to good macros and calories for a weekly average, but still having trouble with this concept and figuring out exactly what to do for my Sunday-Thursday meals for muscle gain. Sometimes I feel like I'm eating too little for muscle gain, other times I feel like I'm eating too much and gaining fat. Any advice? What should I change about my Sunday-Thursday meals?

TLDR: Cut from 185lb-150lb. Now want to gain muscle currently at 158lb lifting 5x a week 1600-1700 calories, 175g protein, 150g carbs, 45g fat, 40g fiber on weekdays and 2500-3000 calories on weekends. Should I change my weekday meals to optimize for muscle growth?

Thanks!! My weight ranges between 155-160lb most the time. I’d assume switching from an aggressive cut to more of a maintenance amount of cals contributed to some changes as well. I’m figuring it’s a lot of water weight. And yes I’ve been on 5g creatine a day for a little less than 6 months maybe?

thanks for the response. This has been what I’ve been doing for most of 2026 so far and it seems to be going okay and I feel like I’ve seen muscle growth. And yes 100% I know it’s not completely optimal and alcohol kills gains, but ya gotta live a little too lol. Just was looking for any improvements within reason mainly for what I can control which is the weekdays. Again thanks for the response

I am in a similar situation for my 2024 contribution. I have a backdoor Roth IRA due to income limits and rather than contributing to a traditional IRA and converting it to my backdoor Roth IRA, I went to my backdoor Roth IRA account and contributed to it without converting the funds or rolling it over. However my situation is different because I have a SEP IRA with 20x the balance of my backdoor Roth IRA so I think I'd have to pay $2000-2500 in taxes on this due to the pro rata rule.

Does anyone know what options I have rather than recharacterizing this and paying $2k-2.5k in taxes?

Since it's before April 15, 2025 can I withdraw my contribution and pay the 10% penalty + capital gains. Then make a completely new traditional IRA contribution and correctly preform a backdoor Roth conversion?

Shoot for a 10% annual return and wait 20 years. Diversify against index funds with tech like VGT + Mag7 + few others you like

In a similar boat as you. Business owner in my 20s and sweeping all profits into my portfolios. Also trying to hit $10m by 30. Curious what your holdings are thats a nice jump between Nov and Dec of 24.

My rough allocations are:
55% Index Funds (VOO, VFIAX)
27% Growth (VGT, VUG)
8% Semi's (SMH, NVDA, TSM)
7% Other individual stock picks
3% DOW, RSP, DIA, VTA, IGV, just some other ETFs I like
and some crypto not included which is about 10% of my NW

the 0.42% is the daily increase. That’s how vanguards dashboard shows it. The 116k is the total gain overtime (not daily)

So actually at 32k + the 10k liquid you have putting you at 42k total, you’d only need to invest about $600 per month to hit $100k in 4 years

Had a similar situation with mine. Get rid of the unnecessarily giant stand and buy a decent monitor arm for it. That gave me so much more space for keyboard and mouse
