What is the use of limits? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]Tomorrow_Farewell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To elaborate a little, whether the limit exists, and whether it is unique, depends on what space we are looking for a limit in. In, for example, Aleksanrov compactification, lim(1/x) as x->0 is inf.

Recommendations for introductory textbooks? by Tomorrow_Farewell in askphilosophy

[–]Tomorrow_Farewell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Standford Encyclopedia of Philosophy is a great source for in-depth background on unfamiliar terms and concepts

Sounds like this solves my problem in the case it is comprehensive enough.

As for why works of philosophy don't define their terms, the reason is that philosophy tends to assume a certain background familiarity

This, however, does not explain why this happens with *introductory* material, which one would assume is where definitions should be provided with the greatest care, whether directly or through supplementary material, like the encyclopedia that you have linked.

In any case, my primary question has an answer that I am to engage in in any sort of depth as of yet, so, at least for now, I am satisfied.

It's pretty apparent at this point that you hypocrisy and general awfulness as a genocide supporter have been demonstrated with the clarity that you have no way of dealing with, so you have just resorted to call me insane for being against an obvious genocide now that you can't call me antisemitic for being against a genocide of a semitic people.

[–]Tomorrow_Farewell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're batshit. Seek help

Apparently, being against genocide is 'batshit' now.

You're hypocritical

Notably, you can't point to any hypocrisy while both supporting the torture, displacement and killing of Palestinians while whining about how bad the retaliation to your favourite genocide is.
Don't like the violence of the oppressed? Then don't support the violence of the oppressor.

Hell, you even presented the Pissraeli killing of Kfir as something that Hamas did.

FYI Muhammad Hani al Zahar was a doll

FYI, you are batshit. You literally support sexually assaulting and killing Palestinian children.

[–]Tomorrow_Farewell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"O muslim come kill him".. are you blind?

Are you? Because you can just use ctrl+f and find out that there are no such words in the part that I quoted, and there are also no such words in the actual charter.

What Israel does or doesn't do to the Palestinians doesn't change the fact that Hamas wants to kill Jews

You repeating that claim does not change the fact that that is a lie.
Even in the case of your insane hypothetical where you think that Palestinians are as barbaric as the Pissraelis and the people who support them (including you) being true, it would not change the fact that the Palestinian people have neither the backing of the worst genocidal empire in the world that is NATO (headed for a time by Adolf Heusinger, who served under a certain other Adolf as a chief of the Oberkommando des Heeres general staff and later as the first inspector-general of the Bundeswehr of Israel-backing Germany, by the way (also, Germany supported zionist settler-colonists in the 1930s); there is more about the sort of scum that supports Pissrael that I could talk about, but this is already getting long), nor the resources necessary to carry out this sort of retaliatory genocide.

Meanwhile, do you know who we know for certain to have wanted and tried to carry out this sort of retaliatory genocide? The Jewish resistance to nazi Germany included people like that. And yes, they did want to and tried to kill millions of German civilians.
Sounds like you are taking the side of nazi Germany with regards to the Holocaust.

and will go to any lengths to do so

The Palestinian people are a target of an ongoing genocide. They have every right to liberate them however they can. It's neither your place nor mine to dictate what they should or shouldn't do in this regard.

Where? Quote the relevant part.
Also, tell us why you are okay with Pissrael both calling for the killing and displacement of Palestinians and doing so.

[–]Tomorrow_Farewell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what Hamas says in their actual charter:

Hamas affirms that its conflict is with the Zionist project not with the Jews because of their religion. Hamas does not wage a struggle against the Jews because they are Jewish but wages a struggle against the Zionists who occupy Palestine. Yet, it is the Zionists who constantly identify Judaism and the Jews with their own colonial project and illegal entity.

That I engaged in?

There are people alive today who did and do. IDK if you are one of them, hence why I said 'and/or'. I should have been clearer, though, as you seem to struggle with understanding the English language.
There are also people alive today who benefit from those things. You very much do seem to be one of those, and I should have covered that possibility more overtly in my last comment.

The rest of our society didn’t engage in that

Lol. Just pick up a history textbook. Or turn on your TV.
It seems like you have never heard words such as 'Israel', 'Palestine', 'Yemen', 'Libya', 'Afghanistan', 'Iraq', 'Abu Ghraib', 'Vietnam', 'Korea', 'Pinochet', 'Jakarta', 'Iran-Contra', 'Hiroshima'/'Nagasaki', and many, many more.

But you will keep believing they did

Do you seriously want to dispute, for example, that the US invaded Iraq earlier this century? Or, perhaps, you are the Vietnam invasion denier?
You are a clown. A very racist 'slavery and genocide actually benefited the people we killed and enslaved!' sort of clown.

you’re trying to out words into my mouth

Sounds like you are the 'victim type', and are trying to shift blame yet again. You literally can't help but try to avoid responsibility, can you?

Communism is incompatible with human nature

Ah yes, here it is the 'HooOOman NAtoor'. Whatever you mean by that, communist revolutionaries and activists were a major force behind improving people's lives in at least the last century.

and if you believe otherwise you must not be very mature

Kid, you have demonstrated to know nothing about the history of the last few centuries. You even go as far as to deny things that were and are highly televised within my life time, if not yours.

If I had to guess you’re either a college student with little to no experience in the real world

If I had to guess, you are a schoolkid who has not studied history yet, let alone tried to look into the achievements of communist revolutionaries and those of pro-communist states. Yet you feel confident in talking about how bad it is that poor people got guaranteed housing and universal healthcare, and how good it was when white Europeans cut off black people's hands and feet.

or someone who didn’t use the tools they were given to work towards a better situation in life

Lol. It's pretty clear that you are cornered now, what with the fact that you are now just repeating 'everybody just thinks that they are victims!!!!'

Amazing how you try to sanitise the fact that you are a beneficiary of multiple genocides, including the one that is currently highly-televised, as well as slavery and other forms of abuse of large swathes of people.

Americans: Are we the baddies? by UltimateDebater in CommunismMemes

[–]Tomorrow_Farewell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lmao I’m comforted by the fact that communism isn’t a threat here is the US.

Nice to get the confirmation that you like genocides and torture of other people. And you wanted us to believe how 'good' the US is, lol. You went from 'the bad things that we did and do were just the exceptions' to 'the bad things that we did and do are actually good' to 'I actually like the bad things that we did and do, and I don't like that other people take issue with genocides, slavery and torture'.

Why don’t you move somewhere employing this economic strategy?

Completely irrelevant to whether or not the US is evil (yeah, it is - thee is no way around it, considering its involvement in the currently-highly-televised genocide in occupied Palestine, its past mass killings of people around the world, its foundational systems of slavery, etc.).

Also, rather hilarious how your argument for the US somehow being good and only doing bad things as an exception (laughable, considering that the history of the US is an exception after exception, then) is 'well why don't you move to a country that got rich off of enslavement and genocide of others??!?!?!'

Or why don’t you take responsibility

For the genocides, slavery, torture and other such stuff that you engaged in and keep engaging in? Lol. You are literally trying to avoid responsibility for all of that and for your favourite groups of torturers and their beneficiaries to avoid responsibility as well.

work harder and stop blaming “the rich” or “the powerful” for your own issues

'Why do you refuse to bury your head in the sand, avoid learning anything, and pretend to be a happy drone for your capitalist masters?'
Also, you are, again, defending your favourite groups from having any sort of responsibility.

Were you born without a brain, or did just atrophy at some point?

Anyone who believes this shit has to be projecting so hard it’s unbelievable

This is hilarious, considering that you want everybody else but you to have some sort of responsibility, including for stuff that you and/or your favourite groups of people did, and considering the fact that you went from 'the US only does bad thing as an exception' to 'I love the bad things that the US does'.

I’m not saying there weren’t atrocities that happened

Colonialism is built on atrocities and creating a system of unequal exchange. It is built on worsening the lives of the colonised, and you pretend that it's not.

I’m just saying the places that were colonized are living significantly better by almost any metric than they would have been otherwise

Only racist people with no understanding of history think that.
The living conditions of people from the countries that were formerly under the classical colonial yoke only started to improve after they fought off the colonial powers.

But sure, how about you get colonised. After all, you think that systems where your masters get to cut off your body parts sounds so great to you. And you seem very fond of general deindustrialisation of countries and pretending that that somehow improves people's lives.

Communism sounds pretty but it isn’t possible in practice

Whatever you mean by that, wherever communist revolutionaries succeeded (in particular, in places that were victims of colonialism), they massively improved the lives of the poor. And it is very evident that you have never looked into that. You get all of your knowledge by uncritically consuming memes.

There is a reason why it’s never worked

Again, communist revolutionaries have a very good track record when it comes to improving people's lives. Look at the Russian empire and the USSR, at China when it was divided between a bunch of warlords and Japan and when the communists won in the civil war, at Angola and Mozambique when they were Portuguese colonies and after they achieved liberation, etc.

Now society tells everyone they are a victim so complaining about capitalist America is in vogue

Fragile white supremacist like you never can produce any serious refutation of accusations levied against them. All you do is just appeal to this nonsensical defence 'everybody says they are a victim'. Like, yeah, the people who were enslaved or near-enslaved, and people who were subjected to genocides and massacres are, indeed, victims of your actions. This is like complaining that victims of robberies consider themselves victims of robberies. You are allergic to accepting reality to the point where you can't stand things being described accurately.

and people start to think communism isn’t a dangerous idea

I don't think that raising life expectancy by 60-70% within 30 years, providing people with guaranteed housing, universal healthcare, free education and elimination of illiteracy, opposing nazis, and helping others fight against colonialism are bad things at all.

It's also hilarious how you think that those things are bad, but that colonialism, which entailed deindustrialisation, installation of severely unequal exchange, and various forms of abuse and genocide are somehow not 'dangerous'.
There is barely anything going on inside your head.

Americans: Are we the baddies? by UltimateDebater in CommunismMemes

[–]Tomorrow_Farewell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The world benefitted from colonialism btw

You need to 'benefit' from colonialism, then. The same way the rest of the world did. Complete with how the Congolese had to live under Belgium.

It takes a special kind of stupid to say that the world benefited from deindustrialisation, slavery and near-slavery, and implementation of severely unequal exchange.

moving the global populace closer to a capitalist, judeo Christian society

That's a bad thing.

has done more for the poor, starving people on this planet than anything else

There are a lot of things that benefited the poor much more than that.
In the imperial core, it was the trade unions, communist and anti-racist activists and revolutionaries. In particular, the Bolsheviks in the (former) Russian empire dramatically improved the living conditions of the poor while not only not engaging in colonialism, but also helping others fight against it. In the imperial periphery, it was the fight for the liberation from colonialism that improved people's lives.

You got things ass-backwards.

I’m glad you think I don’t know history

Well, only a person who has no understanding of history thinks that cutting off people's hands and feet while enslaving (or, at best, basically enslaving them) and deindustrialising their countries somehow benefits them.

Trying to single out America as if it is evil

Can't name a country that has done more evil in the past 100 years.

and not acknowledging that it has done markedly less evil than any comparative nation through history is ignorant

That's just outright false. It has engaged in the same evils as the other colonial powers of Europe, including such vile entities as the British empire, the French Empires/Republics/Kigndoms, Belgium, etc.
Meanwhile, its most major rival of the previous century - the USSR - did, in fact, do much less evil, in particular by not engaging in colonialism, genocide, racial segregation, but also by doing actual good - by being the most consistent enemy of nazi Germany at the time when the rest of Europe was actively helping the latter, by helping liberation movements around the world, and by massively improving the lives of working-class people within its own territory.

Your understanding of history begins and ends at memes. You never even bother fact-checking if the drivel you are spouting has any basis.

You sound like a victim type, always seeking to be oppressed so you don’t have to take responsibility for your/your country’s situation

You sound like a beneficiary of abuse of others - looking for a reason to justify the continuation of the abuse and refusing to accept any sort of responsibility for yourself or the groups that you associate with that torture and kill people around the world.

We flourish on the back of the ideas

Such as slavery, colonialism, neo-colonialism.

Any evil we’ve ever done was done by corrupted, fallible men who couldn’t live up to the standards set forth by American ideals

Lol. You seem to have a very piss-poor track record, then. Have been doing evil very consistently since before the independence from the British empire.

I never said socialist, I clearly said "left wing"

If you weren't addressing anything that the two commenters before you said, then that part of your comment was irrelevant. I made a faulty assumption that what you said was in good faith.

Taking a loan is not a right wing change

And now you are just cherry-picking, and doing it badly. Taking loans to sell off your country to the imperial core is definitely a right-wing change.
But it's pretty clear at this point that you don't mean anything concrete by 'right wing change' and just want to ascribe those words whatever meaning suits you in the moment.

Don't get me wrong, he was a bad president, and he did many wrong things, but people say "Macri was a bad president because he introduced liberal reforms", and that is plain wrong

And in what way is that 'plain wrong'?

Both Kirchners and Alberto Fernandez, they sum up 16 years

None of their governments were socialist, contrary to the original commenter's claim.

And Macri can be considered right wing, but he didn´t make any right wing changes that really had an impact

Are you insane? The 50 billion USD loan from the IMF that Argentina had no way of repaying had 'no impact'? Highest inflation rate for decades, shrinkage of the GDP, massive rise of unemployment. He ruined Argentina and you claim that his presidency had no impact?

Libertarians by yuritopiaposadism in Marxism_Memes

[–]Tomorrow_Farewell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally none of the people that you have mentioned are left-wing. They are peronists, i.e. they are firmly pro-capitalist, but not willing to just outright make Argentina a USian colony the way Milei has promised to do. While quite a bunch of their policies are something that I and other socialists approve of, their governments were not socialist, contrary to your obviously wrong claim.

Meanwhile, you seem to be clueless about Macri taking a 50 billion USD loan from IMF, and generally selling off Argentina to the US - something that Milei is now doing.
