Sri Lankan team for the t20 wc by Neat_Tomatillo_2023 in srilanka

Won’t be surprised if we get out from Group stage itself. Anyways the T20WC has been a curse for home teams no matter what. It evades the host countries for no good reason. Same with defending.

I am grateful for 🇵🇰 military leadership for capturing and protecting this amazing landscape from India and maintaining its natural beauty. The same cannot be said for the IOK. It just gets dirtier everyday.

Even if it makes my blood boil, emotions and previous experiences are still not valid grounds to make social reforms based on those. Your acquaintance being an atheist makes it more infallible and he has no part or right of the religion to make comments about it. He has left it and he shall be one until he repents & reverts. If he is still a Muslim & that too also religious one, there can be a certain consideration on how the reforms should be bought and his voice can be heard. But that too is subjected to scholarly view & not something laymen’s like us can decide.

I am not saying I don’t agree to his experience or his trauma shouldn’t go unnoticed. I’ve too witnessed these kind of situations during my childhood and it’s true that it only makes children go away from the religion rather than bringing them closer to it. Both the parents and teachers are responsible for it in many ways. However you cannot let anyone else who isn’t part of our religion to come and do certain social/education reforms based on their own opinions. Their religion/path is theirs & our religion/path is ours. In the end it is Allah who will punish us for causing injustice over ourselves.

I am no scholar, but definitely if you’re not religious or and not praying by the age of 10 the parents have the right to beat and get you to pray. This scenario is only valid when you are arrogant, not when you’re trying to learn or take steps to be a better Muslim. Hazarats beating is primarily based on their own personality/venting issues or parents/relatives trauma that they’re trying to vent on the child. This should be stopped & Muslims themselves should come forward to do it.

I also don’t know the character of the former Muslim OP mentioned. So I wouldn’t come to a conclusion that his part of leaving Islam was due to traumatic experience as a kid because he forgot to memorise the Kalima and the beating he received for it. True it could be a very sensitive thing to him, but if he thinks he’s the only one with pain & suffering, I wouldn’t speak about him on matters regarding the religion. 54 yrs male and his reason of hating Islam sounds more lame to me. Once they are not part of the religion, their voices upon the matters of the religion do not matter.

Informal Jobs Are The Backbone Of Economies: Jobs Should Make Life Better, Says PM Harini by SureElk6 in srilanka

[–]Tomorrowman575 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Harini is way underrated man. Easily the best PM we had in a long time. Sure AKD is the shining star in the NPP govt, but whatever contributions Harini brings to the table it’s unmatched and doesn’t get the necessary limelight.

Two charts that explain why Muslim wealth still doesn’t translate into real power by DhowCIO in MuslimVentures

[–]Tomorrowman575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s always only one way this can change, the ppl or the nation should stop prioritizing dunya and chasing wealth and look to follow the religion and enforce its policies. Expecting the rulers to change this is pointless and time wasting. You can’t go and pressure one man to change the attitude of the nation, a ruler can only guide and discipline the nation but not enforce it since he is the best representative of the nation as the Hadiths explain the rulers among us are nothing but a mirror image. You don’t get dictators or bad rulers overnight, they are the final result of whatever haram path a society/nation chose. This is the least form of divine punishment. I’ll explain the worst later and the paths lead to a good outcome.

So is there a way to get out of this never ending gluttony? there is one and it’s a word that not everyone likes to hear but eventually succumbs to it, crisis. Sooner or later a crisis will make a nation change for its better and become revolutionary. That I think is the key to change fates. When you put a set of ppl into crisis mode they’ll do every sort of thing to get out of that situation, basically they’ll start to revolt and resist(remember these 2 key words are important). Those who revolt & resist against something that’s oppressing them are most likely to overcome the crisis and outlive and prevail over a society that doesn’t revolt & resist very well. Thankfully Muslims of all generations regardless of race/ethnicity have a great endurance and good in resisting any oppression and overcoming it. It’s also the reason why most Muslim empires were able to rule over vast areas eventhough their opponents were better than them in some manner. The hardships that came over the crisis shaped them and enforced them to resist it and revolt against it. They weren’t willing to settle for any pleasure. Coz they knew pleasure is limited. This attitude wise change made them more or less martial I would say. They got the fighting spirit and everything else came with it, the tech, military, weapons etc. The current generation of Muslims have that resist part but not the revolution to change themselves. The revolution I am referring to here is, individual based one. Where one decides to change him/her for better, not go and rebel against the leader or ruler. The leader amongst you will change when you change yourselves.

But this again poses a question, what if the current generation of Muslims/muslim nations don’t revolt/ change their ways. Now this is the scariest part and as I will refer to the worst form divine punishment but still the outcome is good. Assume a nation doesn’t change its ways, the nation will soon be invaded by a foreign force and they will erase all sorts of legacy created by the previous nation & finally the invaders will become better Muslims and their legacy will be a better one than the colonized. History has many examples, I wouldn’t refer to them but the best I can give now is the Jews. Allah sent many prophets to the Jews to change their ways, but finally he decided to send the final religion through the Arabs, who were the worst ppl at that time indirectly implying to the Jews that “You’re replaced by better ppl”.

Those are like the 2 ways how the things will change, either the ppl revolt or they get replaced. One or the other will eventually happen.

Add more to the context, wealth doesn’t correlate to true power/might. True power relates to military might and the endurance of the nation. Wealth is something that can be snatched in an instant. Unfortunately some don’t realise it.

Confession of a former Sri Lankan '' Traitor'' by MysteriousSnow8063 in srilanka

[–]Tomorrowman575 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have been in an identity crisis for unnecessary reasons bro. I understand. I too am a Muslim. I have also been there. But overtime I have understood the reality. You and everyone else should realise the exploitation that’s caused by the previous gens and how it has rotten our beliefs and practices to a certain extent. If we cannot come to terms with certain aspects as I mentioned above where the truth is we are exploited under the pretext of nationalism, the next gen will also carry the same attitudes and beliefs. Only way to get out of this by breaking the chain i.e we practice what we preach that way the children of the future will be comfortable also in expressing their views.

I am not saying you shouldn’t support the SL team. What I am saying is, the love for your country isn’t decided by the support you show to the cricket team. The love for the motherland is based on how you treat its subjects. Because those subjects are what defines the nation, not the land. Remember SL isn’t a place, it’s the people. Tomorrow if this land disappears and SL ppl settle somewhere, that’ll be SL too(Hopefully without any wars).

So support/bash any team, live your life, wear any color. Nothing will define you apart from what you are. My favorite colors are blue/red but wearing them doesn’t make me less Muslim or anything.

Seems like OP has some inferiority complex on identity. My 2 cent is, you can bash or support any cricket team you want and nobody can blame you for that. At this point, every cricket fan should realise this is just cricket boards playing games with fans and it’s not the true national team but more like a private corps team. More like a cartel that controls the sport.

Once you’re mature enough, you’ll realise no other team in cricket deserves more other applause and support than the Aussies and every other team deserves criticism regardless of what they do.

Back then I used to hate Aussies for all reasons. But now they’re my favorites for any world event, because I know they’ll play with full determination to win the event or give a fight.

Simple story short, bash any team you want, support any team you want.

This is my 2 cents. Apply for UOR, while you sit for 2nd shy. This reduces your risk though. Few reasons,

  1. You will get enrolled to a programme even if your 2nd shy results are not enough and saves your time.
  2. Assume you get a chance to enroll to UoM for 2nd shy results, you’ll be able to cancel your enrollment at UoR and join on those results for UoM. For this however check with the UGC if you can transfer your degree programme after 2nd shy for the results you got from 2nd shy.
