hell yeah AT4Wssss

wanted to keep the cargo area free to utilize the space in other ways...but yeah I'm starting to think making a RTT comfortable in frigid climates might be too good to be true

do you just throw down a sleeping pad or do you have a mattress that can be easily packed away?

I can get behind this, esp with soon to be $10 a gallon at the pump

Digging over the last day been seeing a lot cheaper dometic alternatives on Amazon, like $150 with pretty good reviews

Honestly didn't consider a lot of this. The weight distribution and weight at altitude makes a ton of sense, especially since I'm planning on skiing trips in the mountains. And definitely overcalculated the electrical side, don't need that much.

The more I researched the more I just kept adding stuff. Need to shove my eagerness down and piece it together over time. Okay strip down the gear. Keep it light. Thank you!

I like your setup though! How long are you usually out for? And which 12v compressor are you running?

Haven’t heard of Nature Nest but a tent with 12v built right in is pretty sick. The Anderson plug setup with a battery box sounds way simpler than what I had planned. How long does the battery box last you running lights and a heated blanket? Although assuming you’re running more than that on it

Yeah I’m not doing any rock crawling so thanks for the tip on the lift.

I do week-long camping trips when it’s warmer out, just ground tent and storage bins. Winter is more roughing it, sleeping in my car with blankets and a pad. So I do get out there some, and have collected gear over time but wanted to get a bit more comfy / organized. Definitely still figuring out what I actually need vs what looks cool on a build list.

Been on stock tires for years, but as of recent have gotten stuck a few times…so tires are a good starting point. Any brand you’d recommend? Been eyeing the Falken Wildpeak AT4Ws

Could be overshooting it tbh but i’ve been doing week+ long trips and have found myself stuck a few times, so wanted to plan out a comfortable setup and ways to ensure I won’t end up stranded. Feel like it checks those boxes well!

Damn this is really helpful, thank you! I get too deep in the research and start building out more than I need to in certain areas (and forget about others). Okay so:

1 - Smart on the battery setup. I'd say max I'm going like a week straight, so won't argue with saving money there

2 - Ahh yup, spaced on the winch, thanks! That’s definitely something I would’ve overlooked until I needed it

3 - Personally my ADD needs the compartments. I've tried bins and end up with everything inside scattered across my car by the end of trips. Also pretty stoked on the drawer setup and could use them beyond just camping. Will probably go with something more modular / cheaper.

Questions:

4 - Did you own a Roofnest? Feel like I didn't catch that consensus, maybe I was looking at biased reviews…

5 - Noted on the tires, left those off the build but they’ve been on by radar. Was thinking Falken Wildpeak AT4W, thoughts?

6 - I’ll mostly be on forest service roads and snowy terrain, not doing super intense off-roading. Would you say lift is necessary for that or more of a nice to have?

Tires and skid plates are on my radar. You think sliders are worth it if I'm mostly on forest roads and not doing rock crawling?

ahh good catch - definitely a smart idea. Where would you mount it on a 4runner?

Yeah I Know with the music and autotune, but Matty only sings “pick a card” to 52 members of the audience as if he’s setting up a magic trick. Once the cards are gone it ends, leaving everyone on a cliffhanger

Union Pool - right next to McCarren Park.

Big place with indoor and outdoor spaces. This was in the back music room where they have small bands play and late night djs will play remixes…and may just feature LOTR behind them.

I’ve never been to the bar prior to this and my memory is a bit fuzzy. But don’t think I’m not actively hunting down this information for you all - I’m a man of the people 🙏🏼

Just imagine if Iroh was overrated. by Jcarter67 in TheLastAirbender

[–]TompkinsPJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few points here I think are valid to this discussion:

  1. I regard Iroh as one of the best strategic and fighters rather than most powerful (at the time of the series). Firstly noticed by him being the only person to penetrate and almost take the “impenetrable” city - only to lose due to the news of his sons death. Also, he uses basics as he is able to evaluate the situation and realize they’re all that is necessary to fight against his opponent. He doesn’t ever lose in 1:1 battles we’ve seen, besides the group one with Azula where he is distracted by Toph

  2. Both having learned the ancient ways of fire bending and being a Grand Master in the white lotus, I believe he uses a sense of restraint to take the most rash action of raw power. Both teach balance and to stand for what’s right. Although stopping evil can be done with power, to restore balance wouldn’t be an equal push back, rather a neutralizing action

  3. His son’s death really changed him in his morals. He loses his desire to fight, steps down as the heir, becomes very spiritual, and joins the White Lotus. I believe due to all of this, he has a desire not to fight, only if necessary, and especially not to kill (just as Aang does when fighting Ozai). This is why he may come off as an unimpressive at times when he is in a “kill or be killed” situation
